Hair Ambition

Visited Gabby today. She totally paid attention to what I wanted & gave it to me. She took the time to do my hair right so I can’t complain. I would definitely consider coming back if I needed a back up, but was looking for a place that’s cheaper than my normal spot on Long Island… unfortunately this isn’t it. I live in Western Queens, so the cost difference has to be significant to get me to come back on a regular basis, but this was only $ 10 cheaper. I took advantage of the help deal, which was nice. I loved getting to know Bella too, such a sweetie of a mascot!

I really liked this place. Was a little nervous about going to a new salon, but Jessica was wonderful.
Price wise I think about the same as other places. It’s a cute place and you can park on the street. Everyone was very nice.
We also discussed highlights and they seemed very knowledgeable so I’ll most likely schedule for some color in a month or so I think, but probably sooner since what we discussed looked so pretty — they really seemed to understand what I wanted. Always nice when people really listen!

I went back for hair color this time– ombré on my short hair
gabby did an excellent job and I love how it looks! She understood what I wanted and reassured me that if I didn’t love the color we could adjust it. In the end I was happy with the results– I haven’t colored my hair in over ten years so this was exciting. I will definitely go back, and recommend her to friends.

Based on the multiple great reviews for this place I was reallllllly hoping I found my new favorite salon for color but it didn’t turn out that way at all :(I even scheduled a consultation first to see if the ombré i was looking to do was feasible and Gabby reassured me it was. I took multiple pictures and my hair was in good condition because i made sure i didn’t bleach or anything in a long time. Well… what i walked out with was no where near an ombré and nowhere near being blonde. Instead i had orange/​brown colored highlights that had some ends looking gray/​white! Although Gaby was very polite and even offered to redo my hair, it was too late… i was horrified at what my hair looked like and refuse to go back ever!
Mind you my hair is about an inch or two past my shoulders, not that long at all. I was initially quoted $ 175 but was lowered to $ 125 because i was upset. I really shouldn’t have been charged for the color at all!
The only reason I was looking for a new salon was because my favorite salon is in Staten Island and i was hoping to find the same skilled stylists in Jersey but so far no luck! I already made my appt in Staten Island to get this mess corrected asap. Learned my lesson. Gabby was so nice, I feel bad leaving this review but i had to share my experience because the coloring skills here were nothing like the photos posted and people need to beware.
Note: this place was empty both times i went which should have been a red flag to me after the consultation.

I recently visited Hair Ambition after hearing great things about their esthetician Beata and her facials. I hadn’t had a facial in a couple of years but due to my recent pregnancy my skin had changed drastically and I knew I needed one. I’m beyond happy that I let Beata be the one to help fix my skin! First off, she is so sweet and warm — which made me feel so comfortable before we even got started. She asked me what my concerns were and after discussing a plan of action she immediately got to work. She is very knowledgeable and the unique treatment approach she created specifically for me really did transform my face. Not only did the facial hydrate and smooth my face but I was so relaxed that I ended up falling asleep on her table! I’m looking forward to my next one. Beata is gifted at her trade and I would recommend her and her facials to everyone!

After months and months of research, I finally found a place that UNDERSTANDS what I want. I booked my appointment with Crystal to talk about having an ombré gray. She told me the truth about how difficult gray can be to work with. So we compromised and what she did is truly amazing.
Crystal dedicated 4 hours on my hair and did everything she could to get the results I have now with an excellent cut. I let her have at it with my hair and I couldn’t be happier.
I love the girls there! They are so sweet and made me feel extremely comfortable. I have been receiving compliments ALL DAY.

My first review on Unilocal and a really good one! :) I happened to come across Hair Ambition on Unilocal while looking for hair salons in Jersey City, Clifton, Nutley areas. I am very picky when it comes to selecting a hair stylist. The good and positive reviews of this salon, SPECIALLY Gabby, and the $ 50 for $ 75 Unilocal deal made me consider it.
Since this was my first time here, I was offered a flat $ 50 haircut when I called up to book an appointment. So I didn’t have to buy the Unilocal deal, which I earlier thought I might have to (considering I had long hair). Based on the reviews, I went for Gabby. She is a nice friendly person who is good at what she does! She listens to what you want to do with your hair and suggests you options. From my really long hair which was starting to thin and the layers that were losing its shape, Gabby gave me a haircut which gives me perfect layers and more volume! She cut more than 3 – 4 inches; which has kinda given my face a new look! She offered me a further 15% discount (the check-​in discount seen on Unilocal) which made the haircut reasonable in price and worth it!
While haircuts generally look good when blow dried, I waited to wash my hair before writing this review to see how does my new style look on my naturally wavy hair. And I love it! :) I am definitely going back to her for my next haircut! Finally, I think I don’t have to keep reading 100s of Unilocal reviews to figure out where to go! The fact that Hair Ambition is close to where I live and I get a more-​than-​satisfactory haircut at a reasonable price, it’s gonna be Gabby for me! :)

I really liked it here. i booked an appointment with Shannon. it was my first time going to hair ambition. Shes very friendly and welcoming. She kept me informed as to what she was doing and made me comfortable every step of the way.
I had a color and cut done, and im very satisfied with the way my hair looks now. Love this place!

Absolutely the best experience I’ve ever had in a salon… I randomly walked in on a Friday morning and asked if someone was available to color my roots and do a blowout. They immediately set me up with one of the stylists/​colorists named Gina! Let me just say… AMAZING. The service provided was outstanding. I was immediately offered coffee while Gina mixed my color. Another benefit here is the pricing. Very very affordable for such a great salon. I have nothing but good things to say about this salon & Gina. Thank You Hair Ambition! Xoxo

I just got my hair cut from Gabby and it looks great! She was very friendly, took the time to ask what I was looking for and gave a killer scalp massage. Definitely ask for it when you come here.
The place is very clean and warm and I would recommend it to anyone who is in search of a new salon or just wants to switch it up a bit. The part that I like best is the price… very reasonable for the good quality.

Thanks to my fellow Unilocalers, I now have a new favorite hair salon! I needed to update my «golden» highlights. Months ago, I had gone to an upscale salon in Ridgewood which was extremely pricey and not at all warm and welcoming. I was hoping to find a new salon that I felt more comfortable in. Hair Ambition did just that! I had a consult with Gabby, who really took the time to listen to my needs. She didn’t try to «up sell» me on different services, which was nice. Gabby matched the highlights perfectly, then topped them off with a bronze glaze which really pulled the look together. I also got a great cut as well. All of this was for a fraction of the price of the «other» salon. I am really happy that I found Gabby. The entire staff was extremely nice, and it was a great atmosphere in which to spend to spend a few hours getting «beautified!»

Love this place. Gina is my stylist — as I will definitely return to see her, she really listened and understood what I wanted.
She gave me the exact cut I asked for and AMAZING color.
Everyone was really nice and welcoming and the place itself is really nice.
Update: it’s 1 week after my appt and my color is fabulous and the cut looks great curly. Very happy with results!!!

I just loveeeeee what Gina did to my hair. It looks beautiful. Never felt so good about my hair. The color and highlights she chose turned out amazing. I highly recommend this Salon and love you Gina!

I came here after my friend had seen the Unilocal special they were offering. I got a cut and highlight with Gabby and I am very happy with the results! Definitely recommend them!

I’m beyond ecstatic about the way my hair turned out. My hair is naturally dark and I like to go light every now and again. Only problem being it gets to a caramel color at most. Jessica at Hair Ambition did an amazing job on my color and cut. I’ve never EVER been able to walk out of a salon and like the way they dry my hair out, color it, and the overall experience. I had my almost 4 yr old son with me and the entire staff was very warm and inviting. The entire process of cut, color, and dry was about 3 – 3.5 hours and I did NOT even realize where the time went. Highly, HIGHLY recommend this place for all of your hair needs. I’ve found my go-​to salon and I’ll definitely be returning and recommending!

I love this place!!! My best friend and I were both clients of Gabby’s. My friend got a beautiful red color while I did a dark blonde to lighter blonde ombré/​balayge. Both colors came out beautiful! I have to say that Gabby really knows her stuff. She is excellent with color and went out of her way to make sure she gave me exactly what I wanted! Not to mention, she has a great personality and made me feel super comfortable. The salon in general is a very professional environment. I will definitely be coming back to Hair Ambition!

Booked an appointment by phone (I believe you can actually book online through their website, awesome!) for a single process dye, haircut and blow out with ease. I also purchased the Unilocal deal of $ 50 for $ 75. I’m so glad I came across this wonderful business on Unilocal!
Although I arrived 15 minutes before my scheduled appointment (5:00 instead of 5:15 on a Friday), my stylist Gaby was very accepting and willing to get me all set up and started on my hair experience. I explained to her what I was looking for as far as color and cut and sure enough I walked out fully satisfied.
I have really long hair and my ends were kaput! She told me how much I should cut off but of course I told her I just couldn’t do it. She assured me she wasn’t a «chopper» and would preserve my length of hair. She gave me exactly what I wanted and brought my hair back to life!
Gaby was friendly, funny and engaging. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Hair Ambition. They also have a sweet Maltese pup by the name of Bella who stops by offering affection for dog-​lovers like myself.
In all I ended paying an additional $ 30 after my Unilocal deal. No complaints about their service. Happy to have found a local place with great prices and staff.
