Sanders Chocolate & Ice Cream Shops

My 3^rd review here and this is based on my last couple of visits. (Which matter the most I guess.) I know I have a cute face, and the outfit I have on is super cute. And so is my boyfriend. But that does not mean u can stare at me allday long. I literally walked up to the register just to have some girl stare at me awkwardly. Not even ask me what I wanted or what she could help us with??? Hello??? Hi I’m right here I know ur staring at me. Why don’t u walk right up and ask me if I need help. I mean, isn’t that what you do at work? So nevermind this girl, she can stare all she wants– I stared right back– in hope to make her feel as uncomfortable as she made me! I could’ve just went to Starbucks little girl. Anyways her coworker came up and asked us what we wanted. Not politely, no friendliness whatsoever. Just like «what can I get you» well first, thanks for asking 7mins later. we could’ve had our coffee by then and probably finished it had she offered her assistance when we first walked in. We ordered 2 café mochas per usual. They usually ask me if I want skim or reg milk. This time she didn’t– so you know I’m not tryna gain 10 pounds so we made sure we were getting skim! Now, the other girl was making our coffee. (Staring problem girl) I told my boyfriend to make sure she’s making it properly– my boyfriend says that she used reg milk. Of course she did. Maybe if u weren’t too busy staring your little hands would’ve picked up the skim! So I jus keep quiet– so does my boyfriend. As soon as she’s done w/​both– and places them on the counter– my boyfriend asks «you used regular milk didn’t you?» She replies with yes. My boyfriend goes «we asked for skim.». So she says she’ll «fix it» yep go right on and fix it. I just don’t understand. Anyways at this point I’m irritated– and my boyfriend knows it. Like I can’t even get a cup of coffee nowadays!!! Peacefully!!! With no problems!!! THEN as she’s about to remake it– her coworker brings our coffee back up and says «this is actually made with skim» oh is it? Ohhhhh is it? Lmao after my bf just saw her place regular milk inside the cup. Not only that the staring problem girl JUST admitted it was regular milk. yo. I have no idea what was going on I just wanted out. Never coming in here again– never ever. Starbucks is right next door & that’ll be my stop here everytime.

Employees are so friendly and accommodating! The coffee here (just regular coffee) is so good and it’s at a fraction of the cost of other places! Best kept secret of the mall in my opinion. We always order the cream puff for the kids, so yummy! There’s all kinda of chocolates/​candies too… something to suit everyone. Do yourself a favor and check this place out if you haven’t already.

I do love Sanders, I have such fond memories of going with my Mom to the Westborn location and sitting at the counter for lunch, dinner or just ice cream.
Until recently this location still served lunch items, they had amazing tomato soup and «salad» sandwiches (egg, chicken or tuna). But I just found out that they stopped serving these items, they were not selling enough to offset the waste as everything was made fresh. SO SAD! Of course perhaps a little marketing would have helped that, but too late now.
They DO however still have their ice cream counter, which to my glee they serve in the metal bowls (if eating in) and they have the paper cone water cups in metal holders — I had been wishing for these to return for years!
Lots of candy options, lovely décor. but sorry Novi, now that you don’t have lunch items Laurel Park is closer for me to get my cream puff fix — as long as they have the paper cone cups as well!

Hot Fudge Sundae Cream Puff !!! Of course, lo-​cal (not).
This is one of my daughters summertime gigs. I wish she didn’t work here. Every time she does I want to stop and get some ice cream. Considering I don’t each much. Also the same thing goes with their chocolate. My most favorite as a kid and soon to arrive, the Chocolate Santas as they melt into the roof of your mouth.
I remember going to Sanders as a kid in the Lincoln Park Plaza and parking up on a stool and having a sundae.

I came in on a busy Saturday last week for the first time since this location has been open! I’m originally from Detroit but moved out of state years ago. This place was such a treat and a true delight. The employees were so kind and gracious! One of the sales associates, a young woman, helped me pick out several goodies to take home.
She made sure to tell me sizes I could and could not take on to the plane, and bubble wrapped chocolates so ensure that they’d make it back safe. All three of the employees even wished me a happy and safe trip home. I got a tuna sandwich (ooh so good!!) and a single scoop of ice cream to-​go. The presentation of everything was phenomenal and I was served with a smile. Next time I’m in town, returning here will be on my to-​do list. Thanks Sanders!!!

I was not greeted when i entered the store and also noticed an employee texting, I waited by the chocolate case for a few minutes and no one ever served or even noticed me and I was the only customer in th store. i love sander’s candy but I couldnt buy anything from this store, because I felt so unwelcome.

Sanders is etched in my memory as a childhood favorite. I can remember the store on Woodward Avenue in Detroit, going there with my Grandmother for a hot fudge cream puff. Fast forward to today and Sanders is back, just in time for me to relive special moments.
I was delighted to see that Twelve Oaks Mall has a Sanders as I had much shopping to do there. I went in and was a kid again, reading the literature about how Sanders began, and looking at the merchandise reminiscent of many years ago. Of course, I had to have the hot fudge cream puff, and it was huge! Ten bites and I was done. On my way with goodies to share with my family.
