Lord & Taylor

Customer service has always been the number one reason why I shop here. I always watch for their sales. I get great coupons. There’s a limited selection of items.

For Novi location ONLY: What happened? I’d be better off shopping at Sears. They have some of the most cheapest looking clothes I’ve seen in awhile although they do have a good collection on jeans. Bring back the old Lord & Taylor!

This review is for THIS LOCATION ONLY. Other locations are hopefully still great!
Memories of this Lord and Taylor down the drain. Since I’ve been a fan of L&T since I was a kid, I’ll try to balance the negatives with positives.
About half of the employees are great! Attentive, actively working, well-​dressed, and very nice. They’re usually in the men’s suit department, and some of the women’s clothing. If you find one of these people, do something nice for them like telling their manager how great they are, or buying them a chocolate from the register!
The other half of employees could hardly care less, or they actually hinder your shopping. They chat amongst themselves, rarely offer help. If they do help, they’re slow and inaccurate, have bad taste, let you carry your pile of clothes to the dressing room, and tend to just point you in the general direction of some things, steering you away from gems.
About a half of the products they sell are great! Makeup, scarves, jeans, men’s suits, perfume/​cologne, and a tiny portion of clothes, shoes, and bags. By the way, this is the only place I come for scarves and jeans.
As for the rest of their products, it seems like the store bought rejects of clothes, dresses, shoes, coats, and jewelry. Somehow, they managed to secure the worst or last-​year items from really great brands.
Remember the amaaazing clearance racks? Wile these used to draw me in, now the designs and materials make me cringe. I basically needed a tea to pep me up afterwards. Really, a lot more clothes on the floor should be on mega clearance.
My wish for this store is that they quarter the size of their sales floor, and stick to really great items. Maybe by throwing most of their items down the drain, the store can come back up.

What has happened to Lord & Taylor? Once an upper crust store, it has declined significantly, becoming a glorified Kohl’s.

I parked by Lord & Taylor because I figured it would be easier to find a spot than any other area. Sad, but true.
I came to the mall to spend. I spend money really well. It should be my career.
The reason why L&T gets 4 stars is because they have a great petite selection! I was really impressed. I have been sorely disappointed by the other anchor stores in the mall. I was so happy to find so many options. I will definitely go back!
The sales staff was less than enthusiastic. I had a mall gift card, and the sales lady had no idea how to apply it to the transaction. Really? It’s not like the mall GC’s are new. She was a bit dry, but had no problem trying to figure it out. If I went by her facial expressions, I would’ve thought she was extremely inconvenienced.
L&T is one of few anchor stores that distributes great savings via coupons, so I’ll be looking forward to getting those soon!
