The Village Pizzeria

I work on Grant so this restaurant is convenient but I soon discovered the food is great and the wait staff, Norberto and Sylvia, are professional and always friendly. The one secret I shouldn’t tell but will… they have one of the best burgers in Marin. I’ve had it three times in the last few months and each time it won an academy award! I am a burger snob and wont eat frozen patties… which so many restaurants make. They use only fresh ground beef, hand made Harris Ranch meat, and the cooks get it right for me every time — medium rare. The booths are perfect for a business lunch and you can still see two giant T.V. screens. I even took my wife and daughter out for dinner last Saturday night and had to order the burger… so good!

We came here after a very long day. There was one waiter handling the entire dining room and the bar. Needless to say service was slow but not the severs fault. But that is no excuse for the greasy burnt pizza. It also took about 20 minutes to get seated when we ere the only one at the door. I will not be back

This place was great! Good family atmosphere and great customer service. We promptly got our food and the pizza was really good! The salads were delicious and Yummy calamari that was lightly breaded was also a good find! Glad there’s another good place in Novato that I can come to with the family!

Cozy atmosphere. Family friendly. When we were there a family had an adorable little guy about 18 months enjoying his meal. There was another family with two young girls (would guess 6 and 8).
Must have the linguini with clams! Delcioso! Husband felt chicken parm was dry so he requested additional marinara — they complied graciously. Wait staff is charming.
Nice place for a pleasant dinner.
Can also recommend for lunch. My sister and I went there for her birthday. Got salads and shared a margharita pizza. Was lovely.

This is the kind of place we need to have Novato nice pizzas tasty also I love the the calamari excellent service –too

This place is great and has Excellent pizza. They have all kinds of really interesting pizza options and combinations. You can get half and half pizzas with the bigger size. We did a half BBQ chicken and I think the other half was a hawaiin style or something like that. Regardless both sides were fantastic. The Caesar salad was really good. We also had the garlic chips which were ridiculously good. The atmosphere is really cool in an old church with a full bar. Check it out you won’t be disappointed.

Well I think I finally found a good restaurant in Novato. We ordered some meatballs and garlic cheese bread off the happy hour menu, and it was delicious. We split the spicy sausage pasta. It wasn’t really spicy„ but good.
Service was a god as well.
I would give it 5 stars, but ordered a vodka –cranberry, and it taste like pure cranberry. The waitress was very nice, and took care of it.

A great pizzeria located in downtown Novato. I would say it’s a bit nicer than your typical pizza joint.
Pros: full bar, modelo on tap, friendly staff, awesome owner, great Caesar salad
Cons: family friend that’s always hanging out at the bar ;)
Don’t have many bad things to say about this restaurant. Food is good… atmosphere is great, never disappointed. Give it a try if you’re wanting Italian food.

Good food. Average service. I came in early so the restaurant was not full. The server still managed to forget the lemon I asked for and forgot to refill my drink. The manager was there and got my refill without me asking.

I have come here on several occasions for lunch and dinner and everything has been exceptional each time! I’m so glad they don’t deliver, I would be incredibly obese in a matter of days!

Really enjoyed my pizza. Great service bit tried the lavender lemon drop – not great.

Very impressed at everything about this place. Great food and my order was 100% right. Better than the last restaurant that occupied this building prior to this one.
And the pasta bread. WOW

Good food! It’s just the lunch service. They seem to only have one lunch server who also bar tends so if you want a quick lunch, this is not the place (unless they are slow). Whichever server is working at lunch they are always nice and accommodating but run ragged trying to keep up with everything in the place. After 30 minutes we had to leave because we hadn’t ordered food yet, just drinks and no way would we make it out in time. Waiter was sweet offered to run over and take our order at that time but we couldn’t wait and had to leave. It’s not for lack of trying! But the establishment really needs two servers at lunch unless they hire a bartender.

The place is just so, so good. They brought all of the creativity and flavor of Tahoe-​style pizza right here to Novato, and I could not be happier about it. We’re there every week, and we’ve never been let down. The ingredients are always fresh and delicious, and I’ve never once tried something that wasn’t amazing. Definitely check out the «Mikey Likes It» and the pizza that has Pt. Reyes bleu cheese and pears — amazing.

Food was great. No complaints. The only problem was it took way too long to get our group of 12 our food. And no one in management once came over to explain or apologize for the wait. The waitress did, but I would have been very curious why it was so difficult to serve 12 people. When I did ask the manager she was very short with me. We went through 4 bottles of wine before we touched food. The timing was awful. We arrived at 6pm, the Resturant was empty, we left around 9pm, the Resturant was empty. They served everyone else before serving our table. It was unfortunate because the food is good but their timing was very bad so we never enjoyed our food with our wine. They did deliver desert for free, but by then we needed to leave to get to our next event. I spent $ 100 at the bar, still tipped 20% on a $ 450 bill, but the service in large parties needs work.

Slow service, food is pretty good. Visited once in the summer, they have patio seating which is nice on a hot day.
Decided to give it another shot a few days ago, discovered the same thing, slow service and food was okay.
Maybe I am not ordering the right thing. I’ve tried pasta, and the salad with the pizza bread. Perhaps if I go back I” have to go with a pizza. Many of the reviews say it’s «the best».

It’s hard to find a good restaurant in Novato but The Village is one of them! They have a full bar which is also a big plus. The pizzas and breads are to die for. They are always the best things on the menu. The service can sometimes be a little slow but the food makes up for it. Also love the meatball appetizer.

This place is AMAZING. I constantly daydream about the pasta bread, the thick fluffy crispy rolls they serve with garlic butter. I’ve never had more delicious chicken wings, crisped to perfection with a kind of Polynesian flavor. Garlic chips YES. The pizza is out of this world, if you like thick crust, which is my favorite. Fresh toppings, great variety of choices. I am ALL about good bread, and the Village is good bread heaven. I tried a ravioli dish which was very tasty– All pasta dishes ordered by my companions were enjoyed, though I only tried the one. Everyone I’ve been there with has been happy with their meal. Good cocktails too. The staff is friendly and efficient. I just can’t say enough about how much I love this place. Drool.

Been to this restaurant many times. Although the food is generally very good and s great happy hour. However I find the service can be very slow at times. During a recent visit this week service was poor. The chicken parm which is always very good arrived with cold pasta. this dish was suppose to be served with there famous garlic butter pizza bread — — waiter never served it.

Great pizza! Great service. My husband got linguine and clams and loved it. We loved the cute outdoor seating. Def our new spot!

We often complain that Novato has few restaurants. Well, here is a good one! The linguini and clams is excellent as is the seafood pasta. They make one of the best pieces of bread I have had anywhere, it is pizza dough bread with a nice dollop of garlic, herb butter, shaped like a roll with a somewhat crisped shell… yum! They make I think, the best pizza in town… the «Bianco» (crumbly delicious sausage and mushroom) is great as is the «Stinking Rose» (garlic, shrimp, onion)…so many nice dishes! They added a very good NY steak to the menu recently too.
A nice bar and a nice ambience to boot!
I had to laugh because one night someone loudly declaimed about the fettuccine alfredo having, heavens forbid, garlic in it! After an embarrassing and childish rant he claimed it was not an ingredient. Well, it does not have to be but it certainly can be! No less authority than Emeril Lagasse likes it that way too! I have had the dish at The Village. It is quite good. And for those interested in the garlic version, Here is a link to Emeril’s recipe.

Three out of 4 meals were left half eaten. My friend had a pizza so she was really happy. The rest of us were not. I had the Chicken Marsala which came with a cilantro pesto pasta and a sauté of bell pepers, mushrooms and zuchini. The chicken was dry, the marsala sauce looked beautiful but was tasteless; the cilantro pasta was not a good combo; the veggies were under cooked. My husband had the Chicken Parmesan –terrible too.
Ambiance on the outside seating needed some cleaning up; the floor needed to be swept or hosed-​needs greens/​color and candles on the table.
Our waiter was not worth the tip — we were always waiting for him to come back and when we weren’t ready to order, he got attitude.
Don’t waste your money. Very disappointed. Spent $ 140 or so with tip (included drinks for 4)
The Star Restaurant makes a perfect Chicken Marsala

First off i would like to state that this is my first Unilocal review.

My mother has been in the food service industry for 25 plus years with plenty of experience in cooking and food service. Myself attended the culinary institute of america and am actively pursing the culinary industry.
My one question to this community is,
Does an alfredo dish have garlic in it?
No. No it doesn’t.
This was an awful experience from start to finish. The server had absolutely no personality and doesn’t even belong as a server. A mere bus boy perhaps?
The bread and garlic butter is delicious along with the Cesar salad however.
This place absolutely dropped the ball on our entrees.
I think it goes without saying we will not be back to this place and Im fully aware that won’t make or break this company, however I want the Unilocal community to know that Alfredo doesn’t contain garlic.
Call it garlic cheese pasta maybe?

Tracie and her staff at The Village Pizzeria are incredible! The pizza is by far the best pizza in Novato and every combination I’ve tried has been delicious. I worked closely with Tracie to create a menu for my wedding rehearsal dinner and we had the entire back patio reserved. The food was served hot and timely. Everyone kept raving about the pizza! The caesar salad and chicken parmigiana are also delicious. We highly recommend The Village Pizzeria for lunch, dinner, or a special event!

I love this place! When I think of good pizza this is one at the top of the list. The sausage with anything is AWESOME! I would love to tell you about the other foods but I couldn’t get past the pizza. Dough, sauce, cheese and meats rock! I’ll keep coming back and back and BACK!

The Angus Burger is excellent. Get it with caramelized onions and cheddar cheese.
The pizza dough is a bit thick for me. I like the more authentic thin crust. But people tell me the pizza is excellent.

I have been eating pizza in Novato for nearly thirty-​five years now and consider myself pretty knowledgeable about what makes a great pizza. I can say with great confidence that the pizza I have eaten at the Village Pizzeria is the best I have ever had in this town.
I am talking about a combination of dough, sauce and cheese that becomes a delicious taste experience. Just the right amount of spice with plenty of melted mozzarella. They offer a personal size pie that is perfect for one person, although it can be a great entrée after having one of their delicious Caesar salads.
The wait staff has been excellent too, adding to a very satisfying meal.

The place is very clean, the staff is nice, but the food is not really good. I ordered a cheese pizza and it tasted so bad that I couldn’t eat more than one slice. My mom ordered a chicken panini, the waitress got her the wrong sandwich but then the manager came and returned it and made a new one. Mom says it tastes good.
Overall, I do not recommend this place and will not come back.

AWESOME PIZZA
In my top 5 best pizza list. I don’t usually care for anything but thin crust. This pizza is a medium thick crust, but it has such a nice flavor and chew to it. You know, that nice little pull when you bite into it.
And they use some of the best mozzarella I’ve ever had on a pizza. Tender, tasty and just the right amount of saltiness.
I ordered the Stromboli both times. If I ever get anything else, I can decide if they should get a 5^th star.

Friendly staff, outdoor seating and delicious pizza! Not a huge fan of the salads — too much dressing.
I work within walking distance and our often gets takeout here quite often. This also have some nice private seating for business lunch meetings.
