When I saw how low the rating was for this restaurant, I was amazed… I have been going here almost every Sunday after church with my friends for almost 10 years. The owner is always friendly and knows you by name, the waitresses are extremely sweet and always checking in on you to see how things are. I have never felt more attended to at any restaurant then here. The thing I love the most about star restaurant is that you feel like you are at home. Plus, there it is never one thing on that menu that does not come out amazingly delicious! If it’s not on the menu they will cook it for you. These are the reasons why I give five stars because to me this restaurant never disappoints. I have even taken family members, new friends and coworkers here and they all say the same.

I’m giving this restaurant 5 stars for what is is — good, consistent diner food(but is more variety than I would expect from a regular diner). I’m surprised by all of the bad reviews. My family and I have been going here on and off since it opened. I don’t think we’ve ever had a bad meal. It’s really almost like home cooking, without the hassle of ME cooking! They use«real» cheese in the omelettes and the salads are fresh. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable(especially compared to places like Sam’s or Firehouse Subs). The décor isn’t the greatest, but that’s not what I’m coming for. The servers have all been there for a long time(and that says something good about management) and they’re usually very attentive and friendly, so no real complaints there either!

The food is always great. Sherry is always spot on. I never feel rushed and my coffee cup is never empty. It’s a great place because they have loads of seating so you never have to wait.

In my prior review I mentioned how dirty and disgusting the inside was and I guess the health department noticed it too because they’ve been closed for a week now and have been working on it like crazy. God only knows what kind of filth was uncovered to be closed this long. Yuck, stay away!

Although the breakfast was decent diner quality greasy-spoon type which I kind of enjoy on occasion I am pretty disappointed in them since they are currently closed by the health department for exposed sewer lines and unsanitary equipment, etc. I hope that they finally take down that god-awful, dust and spiderweb-ridden vine thing off the ceiling and clean the place up, I mean really… Now I’m thinking maybe the name Star spelled backwards could have special meaning??? Hmmm…

This place became a staple over the years. But I drove by yesterday and it look closed. And no answer on the phone today. I hope it’s not closed and I have to edit this review.

My mom visits from Texas and likes to eat here. This place has warmed on me. They make a very good egg white omelette — for the price this is great value food, and the place always feels cozy(perhaps the fake greenery on the ceiling is a bit tacky).

Generally speaking, this is one of those classic diner places in a town that for some reason doesn’t seem to have many diners. Went in one evening with a few friends. I got the Novato Burger. It is advertised as a ‘fresh flame broiled burger served with ham, avocado, jalapenos, melted Swiss cheese on grilled Sourdough bread.’ Bad call. The ham is actually on the burger, so that combo is just as strange tasting as it may sound. Many, many jalapenos got the heat cranked up way too much for the average palate, maybe in an effort to mask other tastes. Also, the fries were sort of gray; I think they were cooked too long at too low of a temperature. Other than that, how was the show, Mrs. Lincoln? Yeah, stick with ‘safer’ options here. Service was satisfactory.

I often take my family here for Sunday brunch — my mother in law is a big fan and a creature of habit who does like to visit her favorite haunts regularly. Food is fresh, portions generous and the staff bends over backwards to accommodate your every wish — even if they are sometimes overwhelmed by the Sunday brunch crowd(another good sign, often a line to get seated). Sean seems to only hire buxom blond waitresses — not that I’m complaining. However don’t let their looks fool you — no «dumb blonde» in the bunch — they’ll remember your favorite orders and often bring you beverages before you order them — and get everyone’s right! Once you’re seated the wait time for food is rarely longer than you’d expect. Oh, and there is an assortment of fresh-baked pies at the front counter in case you want to indulge your sweet tooth too.

Should have guessed by the bad recent reviews. Perhaps they’re under new management, whatever it is it’s not working. Called in an order for carry-out and was told it’d be 10 – 15 minutes. After waiting nearly 30 minutes my wife finds out they gave our food to someone else. After apologizing and saying they’d take care of it right away they promptly forgot to recook the food! It’s been an hour and we still haven’t received our salad and sandwich. Just spoke to the«manager on duty» who was very rude. When she picked up the phone I heard her server saying in a complaining voice, «wanted to talk to the manager ugh,» the woman who picked up the phone said, «ohh jeez». Next time try to be a little more professional when dealing with your management duties. Oh and they refused any sort of discount. We will take our business elsewhere.

Nice wait staff. Poor quality food. Runny scrambled eggs and a soggy grilled cheese sandwich. I mean how do you screw those up?

I grew up coming to this place, and my very last experience was the worst. It was 9pm, they closed at 10, and as soon as we walked in, the employees rudely shook their hand telling us they were closed. I am very disappointed and will not be coming back!

We had to ask for menu after 10 Minutes. The chicken Marsala was horribly salty. The waitress tried by bringing me chicken with mushrooms AKA rubber chicken. My boyfriends pork chop was barley edible. We didn’t expect much due to the décor. But when we discovered our entrees were $ 13.95 we expected that it would be edible. We would ever go back, Yuck, Yuck, Yuck

$ 5.95 breakfast special is pretty decent. Better quality than other local places. This definitely isn’t Marvin’s or Toast, but decent diner food. Bonus it’s quiet during the week– at least every time I have came in for a weekday breakfast it’s been pretty empty. Last time for the breakfast special I got eggs over easy, potatoes, bacon and wheat toast. With coffee. Bacon was a bit overcooked and toast had too much butter. Coffee was weak. This time, eggs over easy, potatoes, sausage and wheat toast.

This restaurant is aweful. The plants hanging would be a pretty touch if they were dusted. In the back, where it is a bit quiet and offers some privacy is covered in spider webs all on the ceiling and literally almost all of them have OLD dead bugs and mosquito hawks hanging in them. The blinds that were pulled up in the windows had a layer of grim and dirt. I’m seriously surprised that they were legally allowed to serve food with this kind of unsanitary setting. We sat down and all three of us ordered the ribeye and fettuccine, 17 $ a plate. We ordered a different style of steak, mine being medium rare while my moms/sisters both wanting medium well. When we got them all of them were past well done, rough to chew through and ridiculously thinly slice. Not a portion that was worth almost 20 $, especially since the noodles were over cooked and basically mush.

Still the same, but the walls need painted etc. The food is not as good, small burnt omelets. My southern dinner, chicken fried steak had no breading. It was a processed patty with dimples. No butter for the bread. Boiled veggies, no seasoning at all. Our meals were bland, not what they used to be. Grazie’s downtown is so much better. Need to step it up if you want to stay in business. 20 homeless in the park behind does not add to the experience.

Ok, so you walk in and take in the fake flowers overhead and might wonder, what world am I entering? Then you see the pie display and know it’s going to be just fine. Reminiscent of Bakers Square with an Americano themed menu, this restaurant never underwhelms one’s expectation. From shakes and burgers to breakfast all day(who doesn’t have a warm spot for breakfast at night from time to time?), the food is reasonably priced and quick to get to the table. Anything I have altered due to food allergies have been pleasantly met and prepared perfectly! All the waitresses I have experienced are filled with smiles and great suggestions. Sure, I wouldn’t walk in expecting a fine dining experience, but what I walk away with is a satisfied belly and sweet tooth with great company. Can’t ask for more!

I’ve driven past this restaurant many times since moving to Novato, and for some reason always thought it was a Chinese restaurant! So I will say that it’s not well-advertised :) It serves just your typical, home-y type food. Although I only gave this place three stars, I would like to go back sometime to give it another try, because I feel it has potential. Pros: –They serve breakfast all day… yay! –A lot of options on their menu. –I like the home-y type food… good for if you just really don’t feel like cooking, but still want a «normal» meal. Meat and veggies, sandwiches, pancakes, etc.(I realize that the term«normal meal» is relative… I guess you could just say«normal» for our household.) :) –Open late. –Good sized portions. –Pretty fast service. Cons: –The décor. Kind of outdated and almost dingy seeming. That may also be due to the lighting though. –The food didn’t really impress me. Wasn’t bad by any means, but also nothing that stood out. –Like I said at the beginning… not really well«advertised». Meaning from the outside it’s hard to tell what kind of restaurant it even is. Like I said at the beginning, I would like to give this place another try. I think next time I’ll try some of the breakfast food and see how that is :) So although this place didn’t really stand out to me, I still think that it’s worth a try… especially if you are looking for a place to sit down for food later at night.
