Went there today with my wife. The food was good-great. The service was terrible. If the food wasn’t so good I’d give them 1 star. The honey bee bacon is a rip-off $ 6 for 2 slices. I had to repeatedly get the waiters attention for coffee refills. We waited 35 minutes just to get our bill. I most likely won’t return.

The menu specified that the corned beef hash was homemade. I guess it may have just been a too-heavy hand on the food processor but it had that canned dog food-like mush quality that’s hard to find these days outside of a Denny’s. The yolks on the poached eggs were hard. We also ordered a classic Eggs Benedict, but instead of Canadian bacon they used a chewy thick dry ham. The vinaigrette salad plated between the eggs and potatoes was unusual and the excess dressing undercutting the other items not really breakfast-friendly. The poached eggs, again were cooked hard as a rock. I probably would have given two stars if the waitress had bothered to ask if everything was OK, seeing as how we left most of the food behind. I wished we had gone to Jack-In-The=Box instead.

I am very impressed about this new restaurant in some respects, but in other ways it falls short of my expectations. I loved the oatmeal with fresh fruit and I added toast which is quiet delicious. The oatmeal was not overcooked as it usually is in restaurants. They fresh fruit was the standout of the dish. Fresh blueberries and strawberries in their peak of ripeness and freshness as well. I have not ordered the frittata yet, but, I have heard the bacon one is amazing. I really liked the BLT as well. I was really disappointed in the pear salad though. The chicken on it was uneatable. It tasted salty and processed. The carrot dressing was cloying and strange as well. The pear slices were under ripe and a bit hard. They are working on improving their service issues.

The table ordered egg 3 different ways and they all came perfect. The millionaires bacon was delicious. Service was quick and friendly. If I lived in the area this place would be my daily.

Everything was just ok… He forgot to bring my husbands coffee. The bacon was not crispy very greasy(for a place to be called«bacon» you would think that they bacon would be good) the fries tasted like they were sitting in the window for a while… the turkey sandwich was pretty good but that’s about it

After reading a review in the San Francisco Chronicle I decided to give this place a try cuz I love good bacon! Immediately had my doubts after being seated and waiting ten minutes for a menu-the place was only half full! Ordered a BLT and husband ordered a Joe’s with no spinach. We waited a good 25 minutes to get our order and husband’s order had spinach and had to be sent back-mine came and was chock full of bacon on a stale roll! Finally got the Joe’s order and it was half cooked! Couldn’t wait to get out of there with the poor service and half asleep waitpersons! Would not recommend this place and I so wanted to!

Clean, short menu but good! My poached eggs were excellent and void of water always at the bottom of the bowl anytime I have them poached else where. Great service!

Tiny place with great customer service. My husband had the chix pesto Panini and I the egg and Applewood smoked bacon Panini both were excellent! Great prices only wish there would’ve been some omelets on the menu… but very good!

Pretty good and open early. Steak sandwich and Bloody Mary(small but decent) were on par. Fries are very good. California frittata was undercooked but okay… Probably because it had avocado. Good prices and good service, Will be back.

I don’t like to give negative reviews, especially for small businesses, but the experience here was unbelievable. I half expected a hidden camera crew to jump out, announcing the entire debacle was a hoax, but I got no such relief. We were seated and promptly forgotten. With no menus. I finally got up and got menus. Ok, it can happen, no biggie. But there were only 4 other tables at the time, so it’s difficult for me to excuse this due to ‘busy’ factor. When the food(finally) came, it wasn’t what we ordered. The server insisted it was. I had to repeat exactly what we ordered, and the server left the food in front of us to go confer with the kitchen.(?!) Upon solving the mystery, the server collected the plates from in front of us, walked it across the restaurant, and SERVEDIT to the table who I assume had ordered it. First of all– ew! What if we’d touched the food? Or sneezed on it? It could only have been lukewarm at best by this time. Second of all– if they’d been there that long before us and were JUST getting their food, it didn’t bode well for us. When we received our correct order(short stack of regular pancakes, granola with yogurt, side of bacon extra crispy, side of scrambled eggs, tea, milk)…we received a kid face-shape pancake(which my kid is weirdly terrified of, hence the order for regular short stack), no short stack(intended for husband to share with child), no eggs, floppy greasy bacon(disappointing bacon, by the way. given the name of the restaurant, I was hoping this would be their saving grace. It was not. I’ve had better bacon from the market.), and yogurt. No granola. Really?! It’s a dish that’s virtually impossible to screw up. Oh. And when we were seated we were not given silverware, so I asked for it when we ordered. It didn’t arrive either before or with the food, so I asked for it again. 5 minutes later, when the egg side arrived, the silverware still had not arrived, so I got up, and walked over to their supplies counter and got it myself. Beverages never arrived and I decided to cut my losses. It had already been 45 minutes at this point. We ate mainly to quell the grumbling hunger, but the food was unremarkable. When the check hit, it was insult to injury. The beverages were still added in, along with the regular short stack AND kid pancake WENEVERASKEDFOR! If it had been a ‘soft opening’ or staff person in training, I’d get it. But it was not. Besides arguing with me telling me what I’d ordered, the staff were friendly at every reminder, but I can’t recommend anyone go here based solely on that one positive.

This place is new to Novato but it fits right in, Great name first off. I get the El Paso omelette it’s great chorizo, jalepeño, mushrooms cheese and I’m sure I’m forgetting something, they come with pan fried potatoes and two thick slices of sourdough bread and butter. The Millionaires bacon is just amazing and they drizzle them with maple syrup and the bacon is about ¼ in thick! Soooo good

Delicious! This restaurant popped up on my Unilocal this morning and it did not disappoint. I ordered a side of Millionaire bacon and a wedge of deep fried French toast. Yum! Very rich, but tasty the staff is friendly and service is quick.

I have eaten at Bacon twice for breakfast and both times I ordered a Frittata which was very tasty. Their home fries were also very good. Others in our party ordered different dishes and they all liked the food a lot as well. Next time I will try their pancakes and maybe try a burger for lunch sometime. The owner told me that they plan to start offering dinner later this month. The service is very good. The food came quickly and we were never ignored by the staff, who were always very friendly and helpful. The owner stopped by our table to check on us and really seemed to care about our opinion. The place was fairly busy both times, but because of where it is located on the western end of Grant Ave, parking was not a problem. Compared to Left Coast Depot, the menu at Bacon is smaller, the quality of the food at Bacon is at least as good, probably better, but the service at Bacon is MUCH better. And unlike Marvin’s, you won’t have to wait in line because Bacon is a much larger place with far more tables. Nice to have another good choice for breakfast in Novato.

My boyfriend and I went here for lunch a couple weeks ago. We both got the Bacon burger. It was ok. It seemed like the burger had been previously frozen or maybe just over worked. The bacon was ok too. Nothing special. We were very surprised that a place called«Bacon» did not have more items on the lunch menu with Bacon. The only«special» bacon item was the Millionaire’s bacon, however there was no description, just that it was more expensive. Positive… the fries were tasty.

Late November in Novato — one would think that at around noon it would be about 60 degrees top, overcast and with a not-insignificant breeze. Possibly raining. But this really hasn’t been the case for the last couple of years, which is why we may be teetering on a drought(and spare me this El Nino talk — until we get five inches of rain on the year it’s just silly…). But anyway, here I had a Friday off, and after performing a great deal of chores in the morning I felt rather hungry, and felt like taking advantage of yet another beautiful, 70ish midday. Given the weather, I wanted a place where one could eat outdoors. I’ve been to most of the places along Grant Avenue at one point or another, but given I wasn’t in the mood for Mexican, and Marvin’s as always looked swamped, I decided to give Bacon a try. This location has hosted a couple of other entrepreneurs in recent history, both shutting down in all likelihood due to poor attendance. At least, that was my impression(Word to the wise: It does nobody any good to have a bored host standing in front of your restaurant begging for customers). Maybe it’s the location, maybe the concept, but I felt like giving the locale another chance. As the name might suggest, about half the items on the menu have bacon as an ingredient. Somewhat ironically, I’m not much of a bacon eater, so I was glad to see the standard«Hamburger» and«Cheeseburger» options available. I chose the latter, medium done, with fries and Iced Tea. The host checked me in and took my order, and the tea certainly hit the spot as I sat outdoors people-watching and inducing sun rays(the Northside of Grant is certainly good for that). The entrée came in a timely manner, and the burger was smooth to the pallet, went down easily, and has this writer filled up without a thought of food some five hours later. The fries, while certainly tasty, probably had just a bit too much salt on them — and this from a fellow who loves his seasoning. All in all, a more than solid option. Will return — I’m certainly excited about their array of flapjacks.

I’m shocked that they tried to convince me that the bacon was cooked fresh. It’s refrigerator taste makes it clear that it might be precooked each day, but it’s not«fresh,» I’m not pleased with breakfast. I’ll stick to BLT’S!

There are some great breakfast joints in the area, so to open another is a very risky decision. Left Coast Depot and Marvins blow this place out of the water! But if both are full, then this is a good 3rd or 4th option. $ 10 for an egg & bacon panini served with fries and a pickle. Great aioli and good thick slice of bacon, but the ciabatta tasted a little stale. Sorry toasting and slathering on butter will not hide the fact that its stale bread. Everything is served on a large oblong plate making the servings seem larger than they are. My panini was a decent size, then the thick fries were spread apart on the large plate for appearance. Yeah I know that trick. Good food, yes. $ 10 worth, eh only because egg prices have gone up. Service is mediocre. Sadly, I predict this will follow suit with all of the previous restaurants at this location. To sustain business & compete with the local staples, you gotta find a niche! Sorry Bacon, you do not fill a niche.

Well this is a cute new spot. Staff was friendly place was clean and the name of the restaurant is appealing… cmon who isn’t attracted to that famous word…“BACON”. While I was excited about a new place opening up in Novato I had to ask myself the question… is this place really going to be a hit? I mean we have plenty of breakfast/lunch spots on the same street so what’s going to make this place any different?(Just being honest here) I ordered the buttermilk pancakes… at first looking at the menu I was shocked that it cost $ 9.00 for a pancake… however when I received my meal I got 3 buttermilk pancakes and some fresh fruit… okay 9.00 spent not terribly bad. The pancakes were good… nothing out of the ordinary and the fruit was really fresh which was nice! I can only speak for the pancakes… not the bacon(I know… how do I go to a place named bacon and not have the bacon???) anyways… this place is good… not my first choice… definitely over priced though. If they can reconsider their prices than maybe they will have a chance… but with their local competitors coming in at lower costs for better food it will be hard to see this place lasting.
