Off the Grid

I didn’t actually get anything to eat, but the options are always great looking! A woman working here also helped inform my roomie about the fact they are trying to get some vegan options into rotation!

I wanted to love it, I really did, considering that I love food, and I love food trucks. It’s just all a little too gourmet for me — the items these trucks offer are better off in restaurants. There were no real options for the kids, and a bit pricey. I think my expectations were set too high, and that’s what caused such disappointment. I was hoping for smaller portions, that I didn’t need a fork and knife for. I wanted to be able to taste something from each of the trucks, but price and portion didn’t allow it. At the very least, the food *is* good.

I really loved this hole thing. When we went we brought our 4 kids and we all got something different I had tacos some of our kids had spaghetti and some had burger. The food was really good and they had lots of vagitarian options. What we really didn’t like was the truck whipout they were so rude to my wife and the 2 kids that ate there. We asked for fries and they gave us garlic fries, when I went back and asked for just fries they told me that these are our fries and if we wanted just fries we should have asked for plain fries. Then after arguing about how we should have asked for plain and ask if we new how to read, I gave them the fries and told them if they wanted me to pay more let me know, they gave me plain fries and I left, WILL NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN!

Lots of fun listening to music and trying to decide between all the delish food. I love the variety!

Very mixed bag, so far, but willing to give it another try.
One week, 8/​21, food was excellent, choices diverse, service speedy, friendly, cheerful, and efficient with surprisingly low prices and large portions. Had several excellent items, from 4 different vendors, for less than $ 15/​total. Enjoyed it immensely. Had a great time; left feeling satisfied and pleased.
Following week, 8/​28, completely different food truck line-​up and different experience all-​together Gave up on several vendors because their service was so abysmally slow. Purchased from 3 different vendors: each item barely warm, portions small, tastes mediocre and prices at all vendors seemed about 3x higher than vendors from previous week. Left feeling disappointed and ripped-​off.
Additionally, I don’t know what happened with the venue on ⁸⁄₂₈ but the trash cans (and there were very few of them; just the regular shopping center cans) were stuffed to overflowing by 7:00 and the temporary/​additional recycling and composting bins that had been present the previous week were non-​existent. Did the promoter forget to supply trash and recycling bins this week?
I’m willing to give it another try or two. And perhaps it was because I had such a GREAT experience on ⁸⁄₂₁ that, by comparison, ⁸⁄₂₈ was such a disappointment. But if it turns out that the ⁸⁄₂₈ experience is more typical, I won’t be back.

I’m so stoked to have some thing like this happening in the North Bay more and more! Great event! I’ll be there every Thursday for delicious food!
