This is me, publicly admitting that I’m wrong. Sort of. Thing I was wrong about #1: There is a friendly dude who works here. He is the one that sells the NORTA passes and cell phone minutes behind the little glass window. Man, I love this guy. He explained(and explained and explained) the new NORTA31 day Jazzy Passes to the senile old ladies of the neighborhood all freaking day long, and he was still nice when I bought mine at the end of the day. Thing I was wrong about #2: OMGTHEFOOD. In the back of the store is a hot food lunch counter. They sell random Chinese food(pass), pig lips(pass), fries(pass), and a host of po-boys(BINGO). For cheap. Like, really cheap. Like, $ 7(including tax) scored me a 12″ dressed catfish po-boy. And this, my friends, is what a po-boy should taste like. This was a top-notch po-boy. IMPORTANT: Tourists, I feel for you. Please don’t go out of your way to eat here. Don’t seek it out, and don’t stumble here in a drunken haze. It’s not worth it. I promise. This is the kind of find a new neighbor or someone staying at Avenue Plaza(which is right next door) would like. If you happen to be staying at Avenue Plaza, scoot on over for lunch. Things I was not wrong about: the price of everything else, the dismissive nature of most of the staff, the depth of stock, and the weird-o shoppers.
