I had better. Ice was not crushed enough. The flavor weren’t exceptional. I would skip this and drive elsewhere.

I had better. Syrup wasn’t as sweet and lady was unknowledgeable– didn’t even know where they get their ice or what was in the fruitasia. She didn’t bother to find out either.

I already adored snowballs but it has developed into a severe affinity now that I am pregnant. I have taken it upon myself to scour the area and discover the best snowballs in the the Greater New Orleans area. My top three are Hansen’s in New Orleans, Ro-Bear’s in Harahan, and now Van’s in Algiers! Not only do they have amazing flavor selections but their snow is top-notch perfect with zero crunchies. I was extremely impressed. I am talking PERFECT ice. Thank ya much! I got the Dream Cream flavor stuffed with vanilla ice cream and let me just tell you — merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life IS but a dream. My house is 20 minutes away but I’ll assuredly make the trip when I get a hankering.

Van’s Snowball was just the afternoon treat I needed today. Cute lil’ snowball stand with all the fixins’ and extras you could ask for. Nachos, soft serve ice cream and even sugar free options. Has its own parking lot right behind the post office in Algiers… you can’t miss it. The owner was really nice. We noticed a flavor on the menu called a divorce cake lol… said its two the most sour flavors mixed together –_–(lemon and green apple). I guess a bad divorce like that would leave a sour taste in your mouth.

I love Van’s. IMHO Van’s is the best snowball stand on the westbank. They’ve been there since I was a little kid(I’m 32 now) and when I lived in Algiers Van’s was my special treat. The building is a cute little striped stand. The staff is super sweet. Soft ice which they make themselves. A variety of flavors including sugar free and cream flavors. My personal favorite is the cantaloupe. They are open to experimentation and will let you mix or stripe your ‘ball. They will customise the juiciness just ask! They have a gravel parking lot so no worries about street parking. The line can seem long but they move fairly fast. They are open year round and also serve coffee, hot chocolate, and ice cream. Mommy notes: Gives plenty of napkins, will put snowballs in larger cups, outdoor seating, very kid friendly staff, several clear flavors.
