I miss this place.
Just writing this review makes me wish I could move back to New Orleans. When my parents immigrated to the U.S. Back in 1979, Louisiana was the landing spot. And this supermarket for many years, was the only place in the metro that could provide us with so many of the necessities they craved.
I want to write this review based on the restaurant, and I will base it on their Cuban Sandwich. This sandwich is something that I have dreamed of. If I seriously had like Bill Gates cash, I would literally fly down there just for this sandwich.
Full of pork, ham, Swiss cheese and sporadic pickles/​mustard, This sandwich is divine. Not to mention the butter lathered on the top of the bread crust right before it goes into the flat iron. This. Is. Life.
Please also let it serve notice that their guava pastries are also stupid delicious. It’s one of those things I can also crave on the random.
It’s now been five full years since I left New Orleans for Kansas City. Besides a visit I made in August 2005 (a month before Katrina) I have not had a chance to eat anything from here again. Please give this place a try and experience one of the best hidden culinary secrets in New Orleans.
