I have a few experiences here because of networking events — which were all fine — but when I’ve gone on my own it is not. First — the reason why they get three stars is because they are a great place to hold an event. If this review was base just on those events they would have 5 stars. I bought a groupon(or living social who knows) from this place where I was supposed to get 2 drinks and an appetizer. No where on the coupon did it say I needed to get there before a certain time because the kitchen closed. We got there at about 8:30(it closed at 11 on this day) and the bartender apologized that I could not get any type of appetizer except chips and dip(Mike’s Guacamole & Tomato-Ginger Salsa served with Tortilla Chips…6). I was fine with that because I realized we got there ‘late’ and just went on with my merry business with my friend ordering cocktails and eating our chips. The evening got crowded with a lot of people coming in and ordering drinks. Not even 5 mins after we started on our chips a couple came in with the same coupon(they actually had two) and they were allowed to order the Szechwan Pepper-Salt Fries Creole Aioli…4 and another dish that I could not remember what it was. I gave the bartender the stank eye when he brought the couple the french fries and he told me that because there was a large amount of people who came they had to reopen the kitchen. He asked us if we wanted to order(and pay for fries) which we originally wanted and we said nope we were forced to eat the chips and dip. Maybe stick to happy hours and networking evens

Hahhhpppy Hour til 730. Love this part of St. Charles and Lee Circle. The name TWIST says EVERYTHING. l of the nice spots are over here. I love the ambiance inside and chilling outside watching the passers by. Don’t ask me how the food tastes next door. Just enjoyed a coctail and glass of wine with the BF! My new thing is Pinterest — finding drinks and requesting them from the Bartender. It was pretty impressing… Looks nice to eat at a big table with a group of people over casual conversation and BOTTLES of wine.

Twist is pretty, posh and everything your pretty, posh self would want in a bar. Unless of course you want cocktails and a knowledgeable staff. The bartenders always seem confused and completely unaware of the liquor they have in stock. I ordered a Hendricks and soda after making certain they had it. The poor girl was 100% baffled. After informing her it was a gin and pointing out the bottle, I finally got my drink. It only took 10 minutes and a demonstration. Imagine, if I had ordered a martini I’d still be waiting! It wasn’t busy and even a decent bar back should be able to make a gin/soda. I have had similar experience each time I’ve visited Twist. It’s a pretty location but I like my pretty with it’s proper cocktail counterpart. I only visit Twist if I’m attending or working an event these days. The Fashion Week events are especially fun and offer an opportunity to network. There is simply no other reason for me to return. New Orleans is infested with bars, horrible, great and everything in-between. You can keep your overpriced drinks and good looking staff. I will visit that bar in the next block, or that bar, or that one, or that… you get the point. Take Note: They do feature specials and happy hour promos on their Facebook page. If you’re dying to try them for yourself, go when the drinks are reasonably priced.

Atmosphere: Crisp and clean. Situation on the Avenue, so good location for people watching. Young professionals in the CBD will enjoy this spot for after-work drinks. Tip: Like them on Facebook( ). I only go when I read a post that they’re offering a Happy Hour Special or some sort of event featuring drink specials. The reason is because… Cost: Expect to pay $ 4 for domestic bottle beer(Ultra, Coors, Miller, Bud) and the prices go up from there. Expect to pay $ 10 per cocktail and the prices go up from there. All this being said, I will return with colleagues, friends visiting from out of town, and family for a contemporary cocktail bar in NOLA.

This is a hip, cool spot for after work relaxation. They have«Fashion with a twist» each Wednesday in Sept 2011 from 6−8pm. The venue will feature a different designer each week, with a short fashion show. I attended the Sept 7th inaugural kick-off. The crowd was young(20s to 30s). It was loud, but in an upbeat and fun way. The energy was positive. Upon check in, I received a drink ticket for a free(petite) martini. I arrived at 7pm so I must’ve missed the complimentary gourmet appetizers. Oh well! I decided to order the Tuna Napoleon($ 10). It was deliciously seared tuna atop crispy tortillas and topped with red onion and a yummy house made mayonnaise. I ate, drank and enjoyed the models who proudly walked the red carpet in fashions by Vernon. Pretty cool for a Wednesday night!

Today. Two-thirty. My lady and I exit the post office, patting ourselves on the back for a day well spent and all our tasks accomplished when it strikes me: a day like this calls for that classic Southern past time of ass-sittin’, porch watchin’, and imbibin’ to finish it off in grand style. Except this is New Orleans so we have to do it up right fancy like. Since the lady is from Trinidad and has never sipped the fine cocktails our city has to offer, we have resolved to work our way through the classics. Today was going to be French 75 day. We were going to sit in those lovely red butterfly chairs in front of the Lafayette Hotel, stretching our legs out into the sunshine, sipping French 75s, and listening to the rumble of the streetcar as it lumbered up St. Charles. Doesn’t that sound nice? And here we were, thinking that a hotel bar in New Orleans would be open on a lazy Wednesday afternoon, eager to send a nice man in a monkey suit out to their sidewalk to earn a little coin and break up the boredom of those post-lunch, pre-dinner hours normally spent rolling silver. I’d tip him well to leave us alone, and he’d pocket the money with an eager eye towards the pot he’d likely be buying this weekend.(Let’s be honest about the state of the restaurant industry in this city: at least half the servers and cooks do a little casual toking in their spare time. That is one of the only perks of working in food service.) All those lovely fantasies? Dashed. Guess who isn’t open during the day. Twist. Everything I know about New Orleans was wrong. So we went home instead.
