What a wonderful-little-gem-of-a-place-I-never-would’ve-gone-into-when-they-allowed-smoking… So, thank you to the smoking ban. Because this place is wondermints. Lotsa different beers on tap and in bottles. The draft beers are $ 6, which is a bit expensive.(They probably make a killing during Jazz Fest.) Walking in, the music is suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuper loud, but it adds to the character. Def a locals haunt, with some pretty groovy regulars. They have decent bar food and the bartender was knowledgeable and friendly. They have a great stage area, so I’m sure the live music scene is great at this bar. Pool table, lots of seating and a jukebox.

My little neighborhood bar. Where everybody knows my name. I should have a hundred check ins. Great drinks… Decent bar food. Would give it 5 stars, but sometimes the crowd can be too much.

This is definitely the place to go pre-/post– jazz fest. Beware though, it gets packed! Not to mention, they have one of the worst Bloody Marys I’ve ever had(not sure if that’s because they pre-made it or what), but I was expecting better considering all the daytime drinking going on. Other than that, it’s not too shabby!

A great dive bar a few blocks from my house, just across from the Fair Grounds Race Track, I am happy to be able to enjoy this spot, now that the smoking ban is in effect. We stopped in on a Friday night(my birthday, in fact) around 10pm. There was plenty of room at the bar, a super sweet bartender behind the bar, a great digital jukebox that we happily dominated for a few hours and the amazing drink deal of: a shot of whiskey and a beer for $ 6!!! HALEYEAH! Let’s just call this My New Favorite Place, O.K.??

Fun place… good music and good times. Hard to get into after the JazzFestival ’cause everyone has the same idea but before and during this place is the bomb!

This is a great place to kill a couple hours listening to live music after Jazzfest. Relax, avoid the crowds!

Don’t eat the food at night. Everytime i’ve been they have not replaced the grease during the evening. That’s the only reason they lost a star. The drink specials here are incredibly reasonable. It’s comparable to Ms. Mae’s as far as prices are concerned. It’s also right across the street from the race track/casino, if you’re into that type of thing. I always run into employees from the casino after they get off from work, and they are all pretty nice, not just because I went to college with a few of them, but they all have that warm N.O. attitude. They also have a really nice jukebox with an acceptable balance of modern and old school selections. Nice, friendly lil neighborhood spot to just hang out for some great drink prices. ;-)

This bar was right near where we were staying. Super friendly staff and patrons. Lots of space, a couple of pool tables. I didn’t try the food but it seemed like it would have been really good, and cheap. The bartender called a cab for us and told us the cab would come faster if she called. She was right. This would be an ideal bar to hang out at before or after going to the track.

The Seahorse is the best bar/hang during Jazz Fest! Located literally across the street from the main gates to Jazz Fest — this is the best place to party before, during and after Jazz Fest! The house band POBOYZ organ funk/rock group performs an AFTERPARTYEVERYDAY after Jazz Fest lets out — so the Seahorse is the place to get down and party — place is always going off The people who work and serve drinks there are really nice as well — chill family vibe :)
