Pretty good pop-up! I stopped into the Nola Brewery Tap Room with some friends a week or so ago. I was hungry for dinner too so I thought I’d have McClure’s but low and behold I got to try something new, because Old Portage had taken over the food service for the night. I will say my review is limited because I got there late. I was only able to try their wings and their dessert. The Korean wings were average, though I was forewarned that they were out of kimchi, which was to be served alongside. On the contrary the black and white chess pie was really really good. I’m not even ordinarily a sucker for sweets but I would definitely recommend trying Old Portage just for the dessert. I look forward to trying several more menu items from this pop-up!

*This is a review of the pop up at NOLA tap room* Considering The Old Portage(TOP) has been popping up around town for about a year, I can’t believe that I’m the first person to give them a review! We stopped into NOLA tap room on a Tuesday for lunch. I know that McClure’s is the regular pop up here, but they take Tuesdays off, so The Old Portage was manning the kitchen. Looking over the menu, everything sounded absolutely incredible and I was pretty hungry. I decided to go for the Upper Quarter Pounder which is a burger topped with American cheese, mustard, mayo, onions and lettuce on a Hawaiian bun with shoe string fries. The burger was amazing! It was cooked to perfection and nice and juicy. The bun added a certain sweetness to the sandwich that made it really enjoyable. The fries were a perfect touch and they were served with TOP’s own banana ketchup, which was interesting and a bit sweet. The person I ate with had the Oyster poboy served with potato salad and reported that it was delicious and packed with lightly fried oysters and perfectly dressed. The menu also includes a sampler platter, chicken wings and even a dessert, so no doubt you will find something worth enjoying. I wouldn’t mind going back and pairing their chocolate chess pie with NOLA’s chocolate cherry stout– I bet that would be amazing.
