I come here maybe once a month. Neighborhood bar, same people every time. Kool people, good atmosphere. Drinks are cheap, nice seating areas and a pool tables, and tvs during events. Nothing bad to say about this place at all!

Great neighborhood bar. I really like the laid back pace. Definitely a locals place as I always seem to find a friend when I go. The only downside is the smoke; not so bad if you get there early but it’s the reason I always leave before I’m ready to go home. UPDATE– New Orleans passed a law that prohibits smoking in bars! Yeah!

Very cool neighborhood bar in mid-city. Friendly bartender, good drinks. Decent enough beer selection. Also close to the Lafitte Greenway for easy access.

I was having fun until I was kicked out on my second drink by a guy bartender… He was such a duchebag! I love the bar, love hanging with friends there. Just wish the owner would get rid of the guy bartender.

A neighborhood corner bar in Mid City. Visited this joint for the first time after Endymion. Perfect spot to wait out the traffic and throw back a few more drinks! It’s small-ish, but there is a raised side area in the back to the left with a couple couches. There is pool table as well. I can’t really comment on their ability to mix a good cocktail, as I was drinking beer. But the beer was cold and served with a smile so there’s that! Next time I’m grabbing a bite in Mid City, Evangeline would be a perfect place to grab a last drink!

Too clean to be a dive, too small to be a full-fledged bar. If you are in Mid-City and looking for a great locals place and a very diverse jukebox, come here. There is also a pretty bartender that speaks fluent Russian: + One more star. That is all.

This is a nice, clean neighborhood bar in Mid-City. Great atmosphere, and the bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable. This is a relatively quiet place, and very small. Great for just stopping in and having a drink at the end of a long day. They are open fairly late(it was past 3 a.m. when we went) and the barkeep told us they stay open until people stop drinking or the sun comes up.

This is a classic NO neighborhood bar. So throwback you have to ring to get in. It’s fairly nondescript, but that’s why it’s a dive bar. It has a great selection of spirits as well as a decent wine by the glass menu and pool tables. The bartenders are great too. Worth the trip.

This is a bit of a hidden away neighborhood dive bar and it would be easy to drive right past the joint if you didn’t know that its there. The prices here are a bit expensive for Mid-City and for a neighborhood dive bar. This place never seems overly crowded and they do have a pool table and then a raised indoor«patio» type area with a couch to watch television. Lot’s of smokers seem to frequent here so that can make the air nasty in here if too many of them congregate. The inside looks much nicer than you would think from the outside and when it isn’t smokey this is a pleasant place to enjoy a relaxed time.

I had the pleasure of finding this little neighborhood gem for the first time last night. My pool league was scheduled there, but none of us had ever played there. I got there early to practice, but was so in awe of the bar and was chatting up the friendly bartender that I just sat around and sampled two Louisiana drought beers I had never had. It was empty except for two patrons and if the one had not been smoking I would have figured it was a smoke free venue because it did not smell at all and looked very classy. There are stained glass chandeliers, a pool table, a long bar, an elevated lounge area, and a half a dozen flat screens. It looks like a great venue to watch a game, but I heard it does get extremely crowded. The only reason to not give this place five stars was the eventual fog of smoke that overtook my lungs and made my eyes burn later in the night and that they don’t serve food. I will be back though for sure!

Evangeline is THE place to go for football games, both LSU& the Saints. During games there is awesome free food(jambalaya, baked chicken, red beans) & decently priced beer. However, like all things that are not Drew Brees, Evangeline is not perfect. For games, you have to get there early — if you can’t get a seat at the bar, it can be hard to find a place where you can see the TV. Also, there was one weird night where the bartender asked my friends and I to leave at 10:00 so she could go home early. Overall, I love, love, love it here!

Great place to catch a game, free food, lots of TV’s and friendly bartenders.(I am pretty sure the food is only free when the Saints play, but still it was yummy!)

The Evangeline Lounge is a dive-type bar located on the corner of Toulouse and Murat Streets. It is a neighborhood bar and has a large following of regular customers. This is good and bad as it generates a lot of business but also the regular customers seem to be a little bit too comfortable in the bar area and kind of creep me out. The bar also allows smoking and many regulars are stained yellow from their habitual use of cigarettes. That’s the bad. A highlight of Evangeline is their 4 – 5 beers on tap. They rotate in some very nice Louisiana brews. Paige, the manager, is phenomenal and it’s best to visit when she is tending the bar. The drinks are great. There are three tv’s above the bar, more by the pool table, and more still in an upstairs seating area that is available for party rental. The TVs are mostly pretty nice LCDs, too! So it’s a great place to catch a game. The bar has offered free chicken wings, chips, dip, king cake, etc. during Saints games. There are several video poker machines along the wall. The bar does not play music and the jukebox is EXPENSIVE. Like, sell your kidney expensive. The jukebox does have an extensive collection of songs so there is a possibility of getting something in exchange for that beloved body organ. Were it not for the smoking and expensive jukebox I’d probably 5-star this bar for its awesome bartenders and cool feel. There is ample street parking in the neighborhood around the bar.
