I am giving 5 stars to offset the ridiculous ratings of the previous reviewers who dumped on this place for not being a bookstore (which it’s not) and for catering to the clientele it intends to cater to (gay men looking for leather gear).
I visited this place while on vacation in New Orleans, and while I wasn’t in the market for anything at the time, the store seemed to have a good selection of pieces in various sizes. And the staff were friendly and offered to help me find anything I needed.
Next time I’m in town with some money to spend, I would definitely go back to Second Skin. You know — the leather store that’s not a bookstore. Yeah, that one.

It’s a gay man’s destination. Lots of leather clothing, accessories, and non-​leather related toys & supplies. If you’re not into the gay leather scene, this is not for you. Otherwise, jackpot! Perfect place to shop especially during Decadence. They do have some merchandise for women as well.

If you are a leather daddy with a lot of disposable income — run, don’t walk to Second Skin Leather. Otherwise, save your time and money. This is an extremely expensive shop that caters almost exclusively to gay men. It’s got a lot of selection, but it’s also got a niche market and we were definitely not it.

Pretty sizeable but nasty — was under the impression that it was a bookstore but it’s not even close. For leather stuff, it should meet your needs.
