I’m just here for the seafood gumbo and grilled cheese like it’s lunch time on Friday in elementary school. You gotta be from New Orleans to understand that.

Have you ever gotten really excited about a place, ordered everything you wanted, …hesitated a bit when you saw what the total bill came to… …and then said«forget it, it’ll be worth it… this place had good Unilocal reviews, I’m going to enjoy some boiled seafood and some boudin!» …and then waited longer than quoted wait times, … finally got your food and in a hurry to get home and eat it while hot, left without checking the order for completeness and accuracy(not to mention the fact that everything was securely tied up)… and then… You finally get home to your food only to discover that the boudin, which you were charged for, was not included in the order. And the rest of the order you looked forward to so much? Less than the 1lb of shrimp I paid for, small crawfish, some of which tasted spoiled, and instead of rotisserie chicken, you get a nasty smallish whole fried chicken. I really can’t remember a time being less satisfied with a carry out order than this. Go somewhere else…

The crawfish pie is to die for. YES i know it probably comes frozen and all they do it drop it in the fryer, because I can get the exact same one pretty much at many other Asian owned seafood restaurant, but darn is it good. And I think it’s less than 2 dollars here…

I was on my way to the airport and wanted to get something to eat. I read on Unilocal where Seafood Zone was highly rated and near my hotel. The ratings were true. It’s truly a local crowd. The food was very good and you get a lot of it. I ordered the catfish plate for $ 7.99 and couldn’t finish it! If your in New Orleans, hungry and want good food, make your way over to Seafood Zone. Just don’t stop by if you’re worried about sticking to your diet!

I really thought I’d reviewed this place already. As some may know, getting a 5 star review off of me is as easy as getting a 100% truthful answer from a politician. But I have to admit, this little hole in the wall place not only has some of the best crawfish I’ve ever eaten, they do the best gumbo I’ve had that I didn’t make myself. Not only do they do great food, their prices are outstanding. Their shrimp platter(and any platter really) is too big to eat at one sitting. And they don’t mind subbing their awesome onion rings for fries. But the portions are so large they have to put tape on the container to keep it most of the way closed. This place probably does 90% take-away. It’s small and busy. You may end up waiting outside for your food but damn is it worth it. Just go before 2pm if you want crawfish. It’s so popular that they often run out waaay early. Spicy, large and juicy; Very much unlike Rouse’s where they make a bland and watery batch at about 11am and it’s still mostly sitting there at 5pm. So I guess what I’m saying is don’t go here because I want their food and you can’t have it. You selfish bastages.

This is a regular lunch spot for me. I’ve never had anything bad here. From the crawfish and shrimp po boy to the ya ka mien to the seafood gumbo. The service is good and they’re friendly. It gets really busy at lunch so call ahead. The prices are reasonable. If you like spicy crawfish and boiled shrimp… I think this is your spot for the area. You can smell it when you walk in the door. One of these days I will get some on the way home from work.
