Super fun market on Royal. Grab a bottle of wine and some cheese, head to Jackson Square, enjoy the good life.

When you’re stuck in downtown and need some water, razors, or even ibuprofen because you have a headache from all the shouting and noise of Bourbon St, Rouses has it all. The employees and security are really nice and greet you at the door. The security gave my boyfriend an umbrella bag. The place has tons of products but the aisles are very squishy and not accessible for those on the heavier side. They have king cake at the door and end with beignet mixes at the cash register. I just needed some water. There’s always a line but it moves quickly. There’s more than one register, and the other one is by the other door so someone is often waving at the line to ring them out.

Hooray for this store! When you visit, you don’t know where to go. I went to some of the stores on Canal and purchased a gallon of water for $ 4 and misc items for ridiculous amounts. I text my friend and he told me about Rouses. Whew! Prices were so much better and the employees were friendly. The location is very convenient and a hop, skip, and a jump from Bourbon Street.

I love this little grocery store. My husband and i live in the quarter and frequent here quite a bit for the odds and ends when I run out. I don’t do my «big» shopping here because as vast as the selection that this tiny store does have, it still lacks the variety of a larger store and the prices are a tad higher. The cashiers are super nice and friendly. The only thing that I don’t like is the crowds that trickle down from bourbon, but that really isn’t a negative to them.

Key things to know: * Open till 1 am. * In the quarter * decent selections * Bottled Alcohol is cheaper as compared to other places * Definitely on the expensive side but again, no other place in the quarter that is cheap for groceries /staples in comparison * Check for expiration dates before buying(unless under the influence — high probability!) * Deli section is the most iffy part * Very courteous staff — its south for sure!

This little grocery store is a great place to pick up a quick snack while visiting the French Quarter. They’re well-stocked with everything from cereal and drinks to ice cream and frozen entrees. The sushi and hot food items don’t look appetizing to me. You can grab local food items here and bring them home to remember your trip to New Orleans.

If you don’t want to go eat a big meal at a restaurant or want more of a healthy snack-type dinner, you can’t go wrong with checking this place out. Located in the French Quarter, this has ready-made sandwiches and all kinds of food, beer and wine you can take back to your hotel and consume. Packed aisles, and not for those of you who are short, as they go way up as well. Quick service. Always nice to have a grocery store you can walk to.

Great market in the Quarter conveniently located on Royal Street, stocked with your favorite drinks and snacks to take back to your hotel. It’s much larger than you think, and they carry lots of local items, too. Get some to take back to your loved ones as souvenir tastes of New Orleans for far better prices than you’d pay in a souvenir store. Nice employees, too.

Looking for tall cans of Tecate(or most popular types of beer really) while walking around the French Quarter at 11am?, this is the place to go if instead of handling alcohol like a normal human you prefer to get a quick bite before lunch, go ahead, I promise I won’t laugh if you reach for a salad or a sandwich instead, you’re in Mardi Gras central and you want a tea or water? Sureeeee go ahead! Don’t let your hipster ass dehydrate! You’ll find anything you could want in this store. :mumbling: damn tree hugging hippie.

I liked this grocery store a lot. It is conveniently located near Jackson Square. It is a nice place to go to if you need to get food. A nice alternative from going to a overpriced and crowded restaurant. It has a large selection of food items to choose from, including sushi. I tried their jambalaya, it was freshly made and delicious.

I thought this small grocery store was by far one of the best stocked and offering the most variety that we went to on our trip. They had a huge pre-made area with sandwiches, cubed cheese packets, hummus, etc. to grab and go. I also loved that they had a huge selection of coconut water to rehydrate after a long night and give you that boost before your walking tour. The bloody mary fixing selection was off the chart with everything pickled in a jar that you could imagine. The prices were a bit higher since they are in the French Quarter but, really not much more than anywhere else and to be able to find high quality foods and everything you want you will pay more. I will definitely seek this place out again to do a little shopping while in the French Quarter or not!

Pretty packed ‘regular’ grocery store in the FQ. Presumably because of its prime location, the store is pretty crowded and the aisles are narrow. Being a food-oriented tourist, I came to here buy some souvenirs for home(chiles, creole seasoning, cajun seasoning, peychaud bitters, etc). You are probably better off buying these things here than at central grocery, which has a huge line of tourists just for muffuletta’s and is probably overpriced. I made the mistake of buying Café Du Monde coffee here(the ubiquitous yellow container). Don’t! There is a $ 3 mark-up on those things so you are cheaper off buying these at Café Du Monde itself.

This Rouse’s was an absolute savior during our stay in New Orleans. Perfect location in the heart of the French Quarter, and has all of your daily(and nightly needs). Whether is was a drink, alcohol, snacks, they had it all. Their King Cakes were absolutely delicious!

Great local market in the middle of the French Quarter. We were staying in a hotel in the Quarter, so were happy to find a full service market. Had ready to eat entrees, as well as a pretty great selection of produce & local goods, including Community Coffees.

This store reminds me of a Whole Foods but the name sounds fancier! Bought a container of gumbo file here(cheaper than at Walgreens) and, whaddayanno, they do up to $ 100 cash back on debit purchases.($ 80 more than allowed at Walgreens)-USEFUL since I was not able to find any of my bank’s ATM around. This particular location is crammed but they were able to pack so much wares here, including an impressive selection of chilled beverages, non-alcohol/alcohol types, snack foods, and loads of ice cream.

My mom loves visiting grocery stores as a tourist. She’s fascinated by all the different products different cultures and locations stock. So she’s doubly proud of me that we did our souvenir shopping here. I got her assorted Aunt Sally’s pralines and hot sauce and cajun seasoning for my Dad. I was mighty tempted by the Tabasco products, including the hot pickled okra, and the Joseph’s brand(I think) of pickled green beans, but didn’t want to have liquids in my suitcase since I didn’t want to check. We also stopped in a few times for tailgating items(OJ and sparkling wine) and hangover cures(Odwalla Blueberry B monsters). It’s got a great variety of items considering its compact size — produce, baked goods, dry goods, local items, tourist items, and, of course, alcohol. The employees were even pretty friendly. And it’s conveniently located if you’re spending any time in the quarter.

Sometimes you find yourself on vacation and say to yourself, «I really want store bought packaged soup.» I would never say such blasphemy, but to each their own. Whatever you would get at a convenience store while you’re on vacation… beer, liquor, wine. Yeah that pretty much wraps it up. You can get it at Rouses. Located in the middle of The French Quarter, this place is a gem. It’s pretty large and has a vast selection of food items you may need, especially if you’re trying to do NOLA on the cheap. Are you a college kid tying to be thrifty? Did you lose all your money at the Casino? Did you fall in love with a stripper? Rouses has what you need! It’s like your local grocery store, if it was surrounded by a bunch of belligerent people, the homeless and scantly clad women. If you’re staying in the French Quarter, Rouses can take care of all your shopping needs.

I’ve got mad, mad love for the Rouses chain in general. My grandmother worked and retired from the very first one opened in Houma. I have so many fond memories of visiting her while she was working behind that bakery counter. That store to this very day is still my favorite one. This location is giving it a run for it’s money though. This Rouses is super cool! Oh my goodness. I was surprised seeing it in the Quarter and was in awe walking in. It looks tiny but it’s not. It’s got everything you’d find in your neighborhood Rouses. I love the narrow aisles and the liquor behind the counter. It feels like an old timey drugstore. I love it! This would be the perfect place for all the ingredients you need for a fabulous Bloody Mary. Or dinner. :)
