Great place to grab carryout. I got a cup of Seafood Gumbo and headed down to the river to sit and enjoy it while i watched the barges. It couldn’t have been better. There were huge chunks of fishy goodness and shrimp galore. Seasoning was just right as was the consistency of the soup. They didn’t use too much or too little rice. It was wonderful. Since bottled sodas at the hotel were over $ 3 each, i ended up stopping here several times for cold diet dew, or fanta… I didn’t try the red beans and rice, but it must have been very good because they had sold out by the time i went back later that day. I noticed that their daily menu always has one kind of meat, one kind of fish, something Chinese, and shrimp. They also make a couple different kinds of Po-boys. I did try the shrimp, some very flat looking catfish that tasted good, and the shrimp fried rice. All were good carryout, and better than the average deli counter. I think their best choices must be the Gumbo and the disappearing red beans and rice. The woman who owns the store is a pleasure to talk to. She’s very nice and helpful. If you need good food to go, this is a great choice.
