What can I say? You get what you pay for. This is a one-star motel for roughly $ 50 a night. It’s not classy. The thing with low end motels is that it’s hit or miss whether they’ll cover the basics or not. Things might go ok for you, or they might not. Relax Inn and Suites is pretty far from the center of the action in New Orleans, and it’s in a very rough looking area without too many amenities or shops or anything nearby. In the case of my stay, the room was basically clean, enough space, free wifi/microwave/mini-fridge(but no alarm clock), check-in went smoothly. But the bed was very hard, and the AC unit by the window just couldn’t get the temp down even set to the highest setting. And the worst was that on the second day of our stay, the hot water heater broke, cold water only all night and morning, and I had to take a cold shower. Then when I asked for a discount to compensate me for my experience, they told me no. I had to insist to see a manager, before they agreed to give me a $ 15 discount, which I think is pretty small for being forced to take a cold shower. Now in your case, the hot water heater probably won’t be broken during your stay. But maybe it will be something else. Either way, they aren’t too happy to compensate for their mistakes when they happen.
