Rainbow is good if you need something cheap and quick. This store was interesting as it had all the misses sizes, shoes and accessories in one store and the children and plus size collections in a store next door. To me, being plus sized, this was a plus so I did not have search all over for my size. They had a lot of cute pieces that were on sale, but be aware that if you shop here the quality of clothing is extremely low. You will probably get 2 – 3 wears before the pieces, shrink, tear, etc. But if you’re in a bind and want something somewhat fashionable, stop in here to what you can find.

Now, I love Rainbow. It’s been my favorite clothing store, and I’ve shopped there in NYC and Oakland, and now in New Orleans. I’ve frequented this Canal location many times, and spent a lot of money there over the past 7 months. Yesterday I went in, and when I walked in the door, one of the sales clerks muttered not-so-softly, «no white people allowed.» She was a medium skin-toned, mid-aged woman with pearl-like earrings, glasses, and a pony tail. I was shocked to hear something like that out of a sales woman’s mouth. I’ve seen a lot of racism here in the south, but never something like that. Another, non-white person walked in not so long after I and was greeted pleasantly. I prompt left the store. I am outraged that Rainbow would allow their customers to be treated in this way. I have been a loyal customer for many years in three different states, and I have never encountered such behavior.

Went with my lady to get some clothes for a nice night out and she forgot to bring something to wear. The employees inside the store were very friendly and openly engaging us while we were shopping making us feel comfortable. My lady found a dress, shoes to match and we were on our way down Canal for more shopping… glad we found something reasonable amongst the shops selling dresses for $ 200+

I would sum this up with ‘you get what you pay for.’ Rainbow Stores are known for their cheap clothing with bright colors and fun patterns. They also have accessories like shoes, jewelry, and purses. I went in this particular store to buy some cheap flip flops as my current shoes were hurting my feet and we had much more French Quarter to explore. They had plenty of shoes to choose from. There were two registers going, but the people ringing up orders were not moving at any great pace, so the line was quite long. Not a store I would go to for anything of quality, but it’s great for cheap flip flops and jewelry!

Rainbow is the most awesome cheapass clothing store in the world. Not the highest quality but everything is super trendy so it’ll be out of style by the time it’s falling apart anyway. And it cost you $ 10 so STFU already. The one on Canal Street is several times larger than any of the Rainbows I’ve been to here in the Oakland area; the manager said they weren’t even the biggest store in town! I bought bunches of sun dresses and wore them all week. Thank you, Rainbow! Note: there are two stores, one is all women’s clothing, the second store is two stories, kids’ stuff and plus sizes.
