As local as it gets. Great neighborhood spot with an outstanding selection of liquors and wines with a decent beer stock as well. They also are great for parties, as they deliver for larger orders. Half a block from Langenstein’s makes it easy to walk here before or after grabbing groceries.

You can clearly tell this establishment is an old landmark before you even go in. And very much like it’s neighbor, Langenstein’s, it’s tiny & cramped as all hell. I had to bring that up first because it’s the main reason I won’t go here if I don’t have to. I go get alcohol so I can unwind, I don’t need the process of selecting said beverages to make me more angry. There is only just enough space for one person on each aisle and also up at the counter. I don’t feel like there are a whole lot of options here either. This is mainly due to the size I’m sure. Maybe the uptown snoots don’t dig different flavors of vodka, I don’t know. They do have your basics though and if you live uptown, it’s pretty convenient. While I am partial to those tiny shops where everyone knows your name, I like a lot of space to move & decide what my flavor of the evening will be.

Great store in a small old fashioned location. Good for all your basics. AND if you’re having a party they deliver and will take back some stuff that wasn’t consumed(or opened, of course).
