The staff is very friendly, and they’re pretty fast especially early in the morning. I have yet to go wrong with anything I choose among their extensive pastry section(though the sausage and cheese biscuits and the almond croissant are my current favorites), and free wifi is a lovely bonus. I live close by and there isn’t another coffee shop anywhere nearby but even aside from that necessity it’s a great place and should receive full stars except for one major detail. For the last few months I’m pretty sure the owner has been working the early morning shifts and she regularly shorts the drinks. When I remember to say that I don’t want room in my coffee she leaves about an inch unfilled from the top and when I forget to say anything she leaves almost two inches. Lattes and other hot drinks are similarly reduced though iced drinks usually come a bit closer to being full. I have not experienced this issue with any other barista there and I don’t know if she thinks she’s saving money or inattentive when she’s in a hurry, but I’m sick of paying for medium drinks when I end up getting a small.

Great coffee and friendly service. It’s my go to for coffee. And they have almond milk, which is a must have for me.

I’ve been here about twice/month for the past 3 months or so and it is the same woman working there by herself. Each time I’m there, it’s never busy, but I’ve noticed that it is in desperate need of a cleaning and it gets worse with each subsequent visit. The restroom is particularly bad, which is a huge deal for me personally. If I had to guess, I’d say that the woman there is the franchisee and housekeeping is low on the list of priorities. It’s a shame because even though the neighborhood leaves much to be desired(it is the East after all), it’s still a nice, quiet spot. I have no problems with the service or anything I’ve ordered, it just really stands out as very unclean which is unlike any other PJ’s I’ve patronized. On my last visit there was a help wanted sign in the window. So hopefully it gets resolved quickly.

This was once my regular go-to place for a quiet study time. Free Wi-Fi, clean restaurant, clean restrooms, baristas who were more interested in gossip than going out of their way for customers. I went to UNO, and this was a great alternative to the library at UNO. The hours aren’t nearly late enough in the evening. As mentioned previously, they aren’t the most environmentally friendly, and when the place has more than a couple customers, the baristas won’t come out to clean. But the beverages and other goodies are served quickly, and they are reasonably priced.

I like this place, and loved it when I went to UNO and wanted somewhere a bit more comfortable than the library to study. But for a coffeeshop in New Orleans, near TWO schools where people need to study at later hours in the evening, their hours are terribly short in my opinion. And also, as someone said before, they’re not exactly the most environmentally friendly coffeeshop, with their disposable cups and styrofoam plates. I prefer Zotz, which stays open until 1 a.m. and gives you ceramic cups to drink use, or Fair Grinds Coffeehouse, which does the same — but they’re much further away from UNO and SUNO.

Love the vibe, love the feel of this location. Just a few miles away from UNO&SUNO campus, this is a study & meeting haven for the masses. Also great, is a few yards away is a grocery store & a few eateries; feed the brain during you’re study break. That’s just in case you don’t wanna munch out on the pastries & other goodies in the glass case. Tables, chairs & a sofa, plus outdoor seating, make for ample room to grab a nook or cranny to get your study on. WiFi is «free» but there’s a sign posted that clearly states its for PAYING customers, but there’s no lock or passcode to access, so patronize that facility & surf away. It’s normally very quiet in here, less someone having a meeting or two, but that’s more of the exception than the rule. This is like an extended library, shhhhhhhh don’t tell them. I find the staff to be friendly & patient while deciding upon your drink selection. Friendly staff, pastries & other munchies, ample seating & «free» WiFi all make this a great spot for studying or meeting whichever is your pleasure.

This pjs is my favorite in the city. The chai tea is to die for and the bagels are always super fresh. The owner is very nice and encourages her staff with positive feedback and casual conversation. It is very warm and inviting for college students and visitors.

First, the basics: Poor seating — I wasn’t aloud to move a little table to attach it to another so that me and my colleague could look at each other’s screen while we worked on school-work. Poor coffee — I had a latte that tasted like burnt popcorn with mildly warm milk. Poor environment — all you have to listen to is the obnoxious sounds from the coffee machines that might as well have been stolen from a dilapidated gas station somewhere well forgotten. This, along with the rest of this chain of sub-par coffee joints, is the epitome of excessive wastefulness in the modern age: Not only do they only have disposable cups, when I ordered cheesecake bites, each one was individually wrapped yet still the girl working put on a new set of disposable gloves to grab them and put them on a styrofoam plate. Eww. I’m really turned off by this place but the cheesecake didn’t taste bad.

This is a franchise store, but the owner is always there and has great customer service. They don’t appear to have any turnover, because I go here often, but the same employees are ALWAYS here.(that’s good). Creamy café-au-lait, not too burnt like the national chains. THe cranberry-orange muffin is my favorite. Bathrooms are clean and there is plenty of quiet seating to enjoy your muffin.

I’ve been here over 200 times since they opened. The Iced Coffee is the best. They make some great frozen drinks including the Granita that’s fantastic. Eats are average and they have a toaster and microwave for customer’s use. The muffins are the best thing going for food here. The service is always quick and precise. If you’re coming for a bit, they have free wifi. Please leave at least a buck tip for the hard-working ladies making drinks.

Workers are friendly. Service is quick and spot on. I’ve tried almost everything they serve. The hot teas are good, the iced coffees are great, the Granita is their specialty and it’s super tasty. Try a velvet ice if you’re in for something sweet. The baked goods are always fresh, never stale. Try the cranberry orange muffin or the almond croissant.

This PJ’s location is one of my regulars because of its proximity to my son’s school. It’s busy in the morning, between folks working in the buildings across the street from UNO as well as students/faculty from the school itself. Because of the morning traffic, they’re always baking stuff, and the orange-cranberry muffins were right out of the oven. Staff is cheerful, nice, and the coffee is always top-notch. Careful of the glare in the morning! The shop has an eastern exposure. While most of the morning customers are in-and-out, a few folks settle in to do some work. A sunny day makes it tough to see a laptop at some tables. NOTE: current address for the Gentilly PJ’s is 6600 Franklin Ave, corner Leon C. Simon. The address listed here went 12′ under water in the Federal Flood of 2005.

Conveniently located by UNO. I’m not a student but I find myself out this way quite frequently and this is the only coffee shop that supports this area. I got a almond croissant and a cup of coffee. Wouldn’t get the croissant again but coffee was OK. Service was nice and quick.

This is a great location. It’s the only coffee shop servicing the Gentilly and New Orleans East at this time. It’s small but very cozy. The workers are absolutely fabulous and friendly. Expect yummy fresh baked pastries at this location. Try the orange cranberry muffin. Try out some of the teas at this location.

I randomly found myself here about three weeks before leaving NOLA. Like most PJ’s, pretty decent coffee. The granitas are their speciality thought, like a cooled frappaccino mixed with a slushie– absolutely refreshing on a 100 F 100% humidity day. Pricey, but not a big deal in comparison to Starbucks. Their pastries are crappy though, usually a day or two old and stale, don’t get them.
