Olive Branch is close to home, but has a not so great atmosphere… picture old church basement with christmas lights strung up, concrete floors, metal folding chairs and a bar. The food is slightly better than the atmosphere. I enjoyed the sweet potato fries. The salad was not good, came with canned oranges and a sweet thick dressing. This place is always empty but the service is good.

I am giving 3 stars to a restaurant that I haven’t even eaten at. Really? That’s right. Bobby, why do you do silly things like that? Why? Because I was so exhausted the day we stopped there that I couldn’t have eaten if you had put a gun to my head. But the girly got an Italian po boy and it came with a crap-load of nice and crispy fries(usually I specifically ask for them that way but there, they did it anyway). She mmmed her way through half the sammach and most of the fries(The other half ended up her lunch the next day). Me? I drank an iced tea and tried to keep my eyes open. Even though a lot of places might have taken umbrage(see? I went to SKool!) at my lack of ordering, our waitress was very attentive and polite. I was so tired I actually tipped on the credit card slip and on the table, but I don’t begrudge her the tip. She was a very good waitress and kept us taken care of the entire time. I’m looking forward to going back and actually trying the food. The three stars is hopefully just a place-holder for another star or two in the future.

I like this place, and I can walk here from my house. They don’t serve pizza at the MidCity location anymore, but the food is still good. The Mediterranean wrap is the best. They’re hummus is mm-mm-good. Unimpressed with the steak special, but what do you expect for a $ 8 ribeye? Lots of space for big parties. Oh, and the $ 3 margaritas are awesome! Yay for walking home! ;)

Just got back from a late lunch. Our first time trying this place and I entered with no expectations, except to satiate my hunger. We had one of the specials: LA Strawberry Salad which was plentiful and delicious, full of feta cheese, honey-roasted pecans and fresh Louisiana strawberries on a bed of spinach and romaine.(I am glad we asked for the onions on the side because they delivered a HUGE pile of raw red onions that I think would have destroyed the salad for me.) We also got the grilled fish sandwich which was cooked just right, served with a mound of fries. Both were perfect for splitting! Belly satiated and taste buds happy!!! the end. (We will happily go back and try some other tasty sounding things on the menu which was full of wraps and sandwiches, not too many Italian options, so I am not sure why it is categorized there.)

Every so often, there is a little known improv troupe called«Yesand’s Hot Cousins» perform shows here. Usually these shows are posted on the Unilocal Event. Usually there is a special deal of dinner and the show for one price. The courses and food are your usual American fare — everything from pasta to pizza, italian to tex mex. And the cooks in the back do a really good job; better than ones you would find at a Chili’s or Applebees. But lets not forget they have a bar with cute bartenders and stiff drinks if you can get them to laugh.

I had about 2 days of recovering to do after Krewe Du Vieux! This included moving around at the speed of a sloth and having more spaghetti and meatballs delivered to my house pronto!(I mention this affliction in Nonna Mia’s review!) I called Nonna Mia first but they said they were completely slammed and brushed me off. So I crossed my fingers and checked with the Olive Branch and they were friendly, prompt, and delicious. The spaghetti was great, thinner pasta and not mountains of it like a lot of other places. The sauce tasted like it was from scratch, it also had a few layers of spice to it, with which I was pleasantly surprised! The meatballs weren’t too dense or too bready, but just in between which is perfect for me. However there was no parmesan cheese in sight and it really needed some… Well, a lot of things taste better covered in a fine blanket of parmesan! But it did have two slices of grilled garlic toast which was pretty tasty, and there was so much food I couldn’t finish– all for about $ 12! I think there’s gonna be some serious«sketti delivery» competition going down in Mid-City over the next few weeks! ;) *Stay tuned to find out who wins the delivery challenge and how many times Miss Elaineous desperately dials out for her favorite hangover comfort food!

Went to olive branch today with my LivingSocial voucher. Had a wonderful time. The pizza was good and will definitely make it on my delivery rotation. Liked the Cuban sandwich too! Stop in!
