The owner continues to send me nasty messages with abusive content. He even to the extent of leaving me a note calling me an «ass». This just proves my point that the place is a sham & the owner is not a respectable person to do business with. I strongly recommend every Unilocal user to dissociate with this pathetic restaurant & its owner.

I just went back a second time and had the jambalaya-it was fantastic-one of the best vegan meals I’ve had! Sadly, the waiter told me that Sunday, May 27, 2012 will be there last day, so call before you go or check facebook or their blog. Check them out while you can!

delicious brunch! The chef makes very original, tasty dishes. I’ve never had tofu scramble so tasty – the spices, different blend of vegetables, andouille sausage were such a good combination together. The second course was a sweet potato/pecan praline pancake, also delicious. Honestly I couldn’t even finish them. Now I get to eat them as an afternoon snack.:) It’s obvious how much work goes into each dish. My boyfriend(who isn’t vegan) loved both of the times we’ve had the O! Vegasm brunch. He said the sausage was really good, and he is pretty critical of fake meat. The only negative thing I have to say is about the location. The bar on St. Roch is in a sketch area, but the last place was also in a sketch area.

I would eat this food out of the gutter on Bourbon if I knew this chef had made it. Keep it up my friend. I’ll be seeing you at least twice a week. I wish the best in your future endeavors. Keep cooking like this and one day you’ll laugh about how you used to be in the back of a dive bar.

OMG! This is a 3-table«place» in the back of a dive bar. You have to get drinks at the bar… we were charged $ 5 for 3 waters and a coke. Our food was flavorless and cold. The jambalaya tasted like spanish rice from a can and had burnt chunks of pseudo sausage that couldn’t be cut, let alone eaten. The mac and cheese was cold. My only conclusion is that the positive reviews come friends of the owner or something. Never again.

Upon finding I had to work a double shift, I thought, «Well, at least I’ve got an excuse to order out now.» I don’t know why I went with O! Vegasm since I’m neither vegan nor even vegetarian. In fact, you probably shouldn’t let me near your pets or small children if I’m hungry. However, I do like variety. I was feeling like eating something savory with veggies, so this place appeared ideal. As usual, I did the math after ordering. $ 12 Jackfruit Reuben on Rye + ~ $ 1.20 tax + $ 2.40(20% tip) = $ 15.60. When the food arrived, the driver said«$ 18.» While I wasn’t surprised that there was a delivery charge, I was a bit surprised that it was $ 4.80! I don’t drive anymore, but apparently, the price of fuel has supassed $ 15/gallon or something. I handed the driver a $ 20, and she asked if I wanted change back. Um, hell yeah, I want change back. I’m already paying a nearly $ 5 delivery charge apparently. Then she asked how much change I wanted back. It’s two dollars change. I wish I had had the snarky presence of mind to tell her, «$ 1.76.» By this point, I realized that this led to one of two possibilities: either the management charges a nearly five dollar delivery fee which the driver doesn’t get to keep(though this would be borderline evil, and why the restaurant would need it is beyond me), or the fee is for the driver(like in my delivery time), and this is one seriously greedy woman. In case the latter was the case, I told her to keep a dollar in hopes that she’ll use it to buy a soul at the thrift store. If the former is the case, then it is a shame that I’ve been a bad tipper for the first time in years, but seriously, $ 19 for a medium-sized, soggy, lukewarm sandwich with fries? Thanks, but no thanks. It makes me so mad at this vegan place, I’m going to walk home from work tonight and kick the hell out of every animal(and vegan) I see. That being said, they do get the extra star because the sandwich was actually pretty tasty. However, I won’t be ordering for delivery from here again. Next time, I’ll just order a steak and lobster to save money.

SOGOOD. I came here last Thursday night with my family and the food was fabulous! The service was very friendly(if a bit disorganized, but we came at a busy time). It is in a smoky-ish bar that is kind of close to an interesting-looking neighborhood so we almost didn’t stop by, but, based on the reviews here, I asked my family nicely and they obliged! I KNOW my brother loved his cashew mac’n’cheese because he ate it in less than five minutes flat. My dad and I ordered the excellent BBQ sandwich. I got mine with the jambalaya which was fabulous and my dad got fries which he said he enjoyed. My mom got an order of nachos that was absolutely delicious and HUGE. She couldn’t finish them all, so we all helped out! You know, like a good family… :)

zomg. YES — a million times yes! My very first night of my very first visit to New Orleans I ate at O! Vegasm and it set the tone for a completely wonderful trip. I had the BBQ Sandwich and I’m getting weak in the knees just remembering it. Our party of four was the only group being served the Tuesday night that we were there — after grabbing some beers from the bar of the St. Roch we started the grueling process of deciding WHICH awesome thing to eat. I loved my food, I loved my friends’ food, I loved the relaxed feel of eating at the St. Roch, I loved that my meal was accompanied by marching bands practicing outside and that an older gentleman in the bar was wearing an Oakland A’s hat. My vegan amazingness of a BBQ sandwich included something called«onion jam» and included macaroni and cheese INSIDE the sandwich. The fries on the side were great and the bites of my friends’ food that I sampled(a burger, some jambalaya, a reuben and another sandwich) were super tasty. My only regret is that I didn’t make it back to O! Vegasm for another dinner and/or brunch when I was in Nola. I’ll be back!

What happened? :(I had heard so many rave reviews about this place in the vegan community but maybe we came on an off night. First off, as someone who dislikes smoking especially while eating, I was turned off that O! Vegasm was in an extremely smokey bar. Secondly, as we came in and sat down, the server couldn’t tell us if they had food left and if so what food… So we waited as our stomachs growled watching our neighbors clean their plates. We were recommended the reuben and the BBQ sandwich and luckily they hadn’t run out. For $ 11 a piece, we had some high expectations that were not met. Again, maybe it was because we were there later in the evening and they were the last of the bunch but each sandwich was sparse in their contents and not very flavorful. The macNcheese was so dense with soy cheese that I later regretted eating all of it to satisfy my hunger. I still follow their Facebook to see if I can redeem my last impression; their posts for brunch look yummy so maybe a second times a charm.

It seems dedicated vegan /vegetarian restaurants are few and far between in NOLA, so this was a nice find! There were quite a few choices on the menu: BBQ Sandwich, Black Bean Burger, nachos… but I decided to go with the Double Decker BLT Smokey Grilled Cheeze Club. It was stacked with vegan bacon, lettuce, house onion rings on toasted rustic sourdough bread. As a side, I opted for their Mac and Cheese. Hello, Delicious! The sandwich was tasty(how can you go wrong with vegan bacon?), and the Mac and Cheese was a great accompaniment. If you’re ever in New Orleans, get yourself out of the French Quarter rut and take a stroll over to O! Vegasm for some true vegan food!

Nom nom nom. and Nom some more! My friend Stephanie and I went to New Orleans right around Mardi Gras and we were looking forward to eating here! We found this place by googling vegan eats + New Orleans. Looked amazing so we knew we’d have to try it. We came here the Saturday after Mardi Gras for an early dinner. We walked all the way from the Warehouse District(a few miles away) but that was ok because we were being tourists checking out the area + getting a tattoo. It wasn’t crowded since we were so early. There was only one other couple there at the time. I got the bbq sandwich topped with mac and cheese + fried pickles. BRILLIANT. It also came with yummy coleslaw on the side. She got the jambalaya which was also amazing. In fact hers was really good and I wish I could have come back for dinner some night to get it. I regret now not getting a jambalaya to go. You order the drinks at the bar — I got a glass of wine and my friend got a beer. The drinks are cheap including the wine(yay!). The food is reasonable priced as well. Since they weren’t too crowded at the time the owner came out and talked to us. He’s a nice guy trying to make an all vegan restaurant happen in New Orleans(go and support him!). He told us about brunch so we pledged to come back the next day. His business has been slow the past couple of months but he said the past couple of weeks it picked up — so yay! So the next day we came back for brunch. We were told to get there early by the owner because they sell out. It’s good we got there when we did because it seemed they do the breakfast in waves. We had no idea it was a 2 course meal. SOMUCHFOOD. actually too much food. You order the«brunch» which included the first dish being a tamale with mole sauce over a tofu scramble like dish. Then about 30 mins later they brought out the second dish which was Mexican chocolate pancakes with caramelized bananas. I think they were supposed to come out with a nut based whip cream but they didn’t. Both dishes were so good! I also got an orange juice and I think my friend got a tea. The place was crowded — every seat in the«restaurant» area was full and other people were eating the vegan food near the bar. There seemed to be the cook(owner) in the back making all the food and one woman being the server. I wish I had known it was going to be so much food because it was way too much for one person. We probably would have been better splitting the dishes since we each wasted half our pancake. This also happened because of the time waiting between the 2 dishes. Each brunch was $ 15 a person(includes both dishes). My only complaint is that the bar is really smokey. The restaurant is a pop-up place that is only opened on the weekends. The bar lets the O! Vegasm owner use the space to the right side of the bar as you walk-in. So the rest of the place is a divey-bar which I’m totally ok with except the smoke. It is so smokey, all the time. My throat started hurting really bad on Saturday while we were there and then again on Sunday — so much so I ended up getting a really bad cold afterwards. Yeah maybe the locals are used to the smoke but us spoiled liberal Boston kids aren’t used to smoke anymore since it’s banned everywhere. I do hope O! Vegasm is able to find a space that isn’t so smokey. But I do like being able to order alcohol at the place. Also the signage is terrible — thank god for smart phones. You would never know this was the place. There’s nothing letting you know this is the bar with the vegan pop-up restaurant when you walk by. So be prepared to be confused and give yourself some time to find it. It’s also kind of far out and not that accessible if you don’t have a car or if you aren’t willing to walk four miles like we did. During the day and even in the evening we found the area safe to walk in. I guess some streets aren’t that safe(the locals warned us) but we didn’t come across any mischief. But make the effort — it’s so worth it. How often do you get fatty southern vegan food? For me, not often enough. If I lived in New Orleans I would come all the time — especially with the rotating brunch menu! This guy knows what he’s doing with food and every vegan visiting should check it out.

The best vegan and vegetarian restaurant in New Orleans. The variety of dishes, from jambalaya to BBQ sandwiches, amazingly did not include salad. I found refreshing no mention of salad on the menu. This restaurant does not have to rely on the vegetarian staple of a bowl of fresh greens to deliver a tasty vegetarian meal. I had the BBQ sandwich. It had several layers including fried pickles, macaroni and cheese, and cole slaw. The thick sandwich required a fork and knife. It tasted delicious! I would definitely recommend for a casual dinner or meeting place for friends. Small sitting area would not make it ideal for a large meeting place.

Awesome classic New Orleans fare only vegan! I went twice and the food was amazing both times. First for dinner where I had the vegan jambalaya and my friend has a bbq sandwich topped with mac and cheese and fried pickles! Yum! Sooo good. We went back for brunch and had tamales in mole sauce and Mexican chocolate pancakes with caramelized bananas. The ambiance is interesting. Basically O! Vegasm is set up in a section in a bar. The place may feel a little smokey for any fellow Yankees visiting New Orleans and not used to smoke in restaurants and bars. But hey, there was a little jazz band in the bar during brunch and beers are $ 2!

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooaaaaaaaaahh (that’s a vegasm in case you weren’t aware) This place delivers. We had a group of meat eaters and vegetarians and we all had the same response — «Yumsies!» When we got there they had already run out of much of the menu so I got the Vegan B.L.T., and I’ll be honest, I was kind of ready to be disappointed, but overall it was deelish! You may consider cole slaw in stead of the fries– they were a bit soggy, but the slaw was super tasty. Work it O! Vegasm.

O YES! O Vegasm! Low profile and delicious, this little out of the way, discreet eatery rocks my world in more than one way. Sexy fries, check, BLT check, deliciousness um, yea, check. I was pleasantly surprised by O Vegasm, I wasn’t sure what to expect but after hearing the buzz surrounding the place I decided to partake. What I found is down home good fricken’ bar food that rocks. Let’s just say that this place serves high end homestyle southern cooking with a twist, what’s the twist? No, meat! Tonite was my first time and I’ll definitely be back — next stop, Sunday brunch!

Yep, we came for the Sunday brunch as well. My mate is vegan and we were worried about finding enough places to eat in NOLA on our vacation, but O! Vegasm was hands down the best we had. The brunch is two plates, a savory and a sweet. We had a plate of blackened tofu with a rosemary biscuit and gravy topped with fried okra. I died. It was incredible. Best biscuits and gravy I’ve ever had… ok best vegan B&G I’ve ever had. Then came the sweet – a carrot cake pancake with cream cheese frosting. Jesus H Christ, it was delicious. They brought syrup but we didn’t want to cover up any of the flavor. St. Roch tavern seems like a cool little dive, but since we came at 11 on a Sunday we missed any of the excitement(I heard there was a bounce party there the night before… drat!).

Just what we needed after the long drive from Austin. Everything on the menu looked fantastic so it was hard to choose. I went with the BBQ sandwich with a side of Jambalaya and was not disappointed. Friendly service and generous portions. WARNING: this is spicy stuff! I was sweating by the end! Highlight: the pistachio mini bundt cake dessert was amazing!

O! Vegasm, indeed! I’m still rocking the afterglow 15 hours later. Y’know, back in the day, I remember only being able to eat vegan in a handful of places here and there was only *one* vegan restaurant in town, Old Dog New Trick. I loved Old Dog New Trick, but it was your typical tofu stir fries, scrambles and Asian noodle dishes. All of it predictable… delicious, but… there’s a new trick in town and it’s O! Vegasm. They serve up vegan creations that will shock your taste buds. I mean, the black bean burger? Possibly the best I’ve ever tasted. I also tried a bit of my friend’s «crab» cake(made with jackfruit. Can be ordered as a po’boy or platter over salad, sans bread). She’s an omnivore and swore it tasted like the real thing. I never ate a crab cake, but if that’s the case, I suppose I love crab cakes! I had the BLT with cashew cream on sourdough toast. Out. of. this. world. Mind blowing delicious. Easily surpasses my favorite veg sandwich of all time, which is made by Eden Alley in KC. Service was also awesome, crazy nice and helpful(I shudder to think how often she has to explain what the heck jackfruit is). I love that this place exists within a place like the St. Roch Tavern, which is kinda divey and definitely has its regulars. I spied these regulars chowing down, too, btw. Vegan barflies? Seriously, only in New Orleans. Can’t wait to come back and try brunch!
