OMG, if you are in New Orleans and don’t come here, you have wasted a trip! The signature drink the bow wow, the charbroiled oysters, the carrot soufflé, the catfish, the cornbread dressing, my trip is complete! Yummo!

FUCKKKKKKTHISPLACE. I’m updating my review because we came back for a 2nd time because the food is so damn good. Even the first time, the experience was bad overall but i gave it a 3 for the food. Yes, the food is good. There is no denying it. Charbroiled oysters, catfish and carrot soufflé were amazing but when a place makes it seem like you should be honored that they work their then there is a problem. Let me tell you a few things that happened the 2nd time we came here by making a simple list. 1) 1 and half hour wait because i was busy but then when it died down we were still waiting BECAUSETHEYFORGOTABOUTUS. Literally, I noticed people were walking in and being seated right away and thats when I got up and asked what the deal was and they apologized for forgetting us 2) You ever heard of the worst seat in a restaurant? It exist, we sat there. After they forgot us they sat us in the back of the room with a table that was cricket enough to put the salt shaker at one end and see it slowly move to the other end. 3) Brought us dirty dishes. The folk was dirty, my wife requested new silverware and again it was dirty. Third time was charm. 4) Our server(waitress) was high. Not kidding, I know how weed smells and the fact that her eyes were bloodshot and she was grinning helped to confirm that she was high. She also got our shit wrong more then once. 5) We ordered our drinks. I specifically ordered water. My water came after my food. My friends alcoholic drink came 10 minutes before the bill after they forgot to tell him they didn’t have red bull and then brought a crown and sprite instead of a Vodka and cran. 6) Food arrived in a massively chipped plate. 7) A dozen of our oysters were forgotten and they had to start up the grill again to rush one half of our order out. 8) The waitress had to ask us what we ordered to make our bill because she was to high

Chargrilled oysters are probably the best I’ve had. I also ate the breaded pork chop and fried catfish. Breaded chop was not bad. But not great either. Catfish I would not recommend. Wasn’t fresh. More than likely frozen. Was a tad on the chewy side. Mac and cheese was great. Very nostalgic taste to it. Red beans and rice flavoring was great. Just a tad watery but very tasty. Raw oysters were also very good.

Okay I’ve been to neyows before so i kind of knew what I was getting myself into when I decided to go here for dinner on a Saturday night. I just feel like this place is great but needs improvement especially on waiters customer service goes a long way and sitting at a table for more than 20mins without being attended to is crazy!!! The food was okay when it got to the table it was cold/warm my shrimps was over cooked and cold the best thing was the JAZZYWINGS and my drink Hopefully I will try this place again and experience better than this last visit…

The food here is so good I keep returning, to try everything. Current favorites: carrot soufflé, pork chops, parsley potatoes. A real favorite place in a city full of them. So friendly too.

This place has the worst service of any restaurant I’ve ever been to. We were seated and other tables seated after us got service first. Only 4 out of 5 people at our table actually received the food we ordered. We spent about 2 hours in the restaurant and saw our server a grand total of 2 times. For the people who did actually receive their entrees, the mashed potatoes felt like they came right out of the refrigerator and the steak that was ordered medium rare came out straight up raw. The management made no attempts to fix the problems and only offered to give us a free dessert, which probably would have taken another hour to show up, if at all like our other food.

We were looking for some good southern comfort food, and this restaurant was amazing. It was packed full and the food came out quickly, the staff working hard and friendly. We had the jambalaya with sausage, gumbo, and the grilled oysters. Everything was delicious, above my expectations

Some of the best char-grilled oysters I’ve ever had! I’m not an oyster person but these are some delicious delights that you cannot pass up. I also ordered the grilled breast of chicken with a side of mixed vegetables and garlic potatoes. The chicken was so moist and flavorful; the potatoes and the veggies were a nice touch on the side. I was fortunate enough to come at 3:00pm and be seated immediately.(3pm-5pm is a busy time in New Orleans) The meal was absolutely divine and as usual, the staff is friendly and welcoming. Try not to come with more than 5 people; there is limited seating and the last thing you want to do is wait. Meal prices are reasonable but I’m sure there is a ticket limit per table. Bring cash and eat well!

The only things that the price is cheap I had the smothered pork chops it was very thin the macaroni and cheese was definitely not homemade more like out of the box the gravy was taste like made out of a can service was ok nothing to brag about. Place was not busy waited long time for the food.

Now I came to New Orleans to eat great food, and Neyow’s definitely did not disappoint. My family and I came by in support of the local black-owned businesses. We were seated near the oyster grill which was a cool sight to see. I really wanted a coffee because I’d yet to have any that day, but I was informed that they were all out. The rest of the fam ordered the speciality fruit punch, while the adults got theirs spiked(called the bow wow punch). It was hella strong, not too sweet, and served in a to-go cup because you’re unlikely to finish the 32oz beverage in the restaurant. For food, I ordered one of the Thursday specials which consisted of two pieces of white meat fried chicken, cabbage, rice, and corn bread.($ 9) The rice was mediocre but was definitely not the star of the show. That belongs to the delicious and juicy fried chicken. The cabbage was nicely seasoned as well and did not even need any hot sauce. The cornbread was soft and somehow moist but still solid. My uncle ordered some of the chargrilled oysters, and they gave us eight oysters instead of the ordered six so that was a nice bonus. If you’re going to visit this place I definitely recommend getting the fried chicken with anything you order. My mom, brother, and I all thought it was absolutely amazing. Plus, the customer service was superb.

The chardboiled oysters was good the raw ones tasted frozen not fresh. Didnt have that salty kind of taste i like from acme. I had the beans they were watery and tasted bland. The fish was suppose to be grilled catfish ITISNOT I AMBORNANDRAISEDINNEWORLEANSTHATISNOTCATFISHSTOPSAYINGTHAT. Our table was dirty the lady wiped it and was walking away but it was still dirty. I asked for the towel so i could wipe it but she did it again Service was ok. The lady did the best she could i guess. We would ask for something and the server forgot like twice for things we asked for we had to ask her again. The bathroom needs work. It was just there and wasnt clean. I like a clean bathroom where im eating at. I will return to give them another chance because of them chardboiled oyster. I will also lwt the server know i will be doing a review.

During my recent visit to NOLA, this was one of my favorite restaurants that we dined at. All of the New Orleans staples(red beans and rice, jambalaya, shrimp creole, etc) were cooked and prepared to perfection. We arrived right when they opened, which turned out to be a great decision as by the time we left the place was packed. As a southerner, the mac and cheese left a little to be desired but I wont hold that against them. It will definitely be a place I visit whenever I’m in New Orleans.

Food was great, prices were even better. Portions are large. I had red beans and rice with hot sausage and my boyfriend had grilled pork chops with green beans and Mac n cheese. Server was friendly and prompt, can’t remember her name. She was young with short curled deep red hair.

Oh my where do I start! This place I only wish I could give 10 stars, excellent food, service, drinks, and prices now how can you really beat that. I went to the restaurant for my partners birthday, we heard about the place but like any restaurant you never know what to expect. It was pack but they were coming in and out we only had to wait 10 minutes for a table. Our waitress was very nice and knowledgable on the what to get etc. the bow wow punch(could be wrong on the name but it was $ 10) omg best drink ever a few sips get you oh so right! The oysters like heaven, the fish delish(yea I made that up to rhyme) anywho there was many dishes that we had that night including the fried catfish and it all good. This is a must go place just try to go early so you can get in.

Let me start by saying that my husband and I found this place by accident. We left or car at the hotel because I wanted to rode in a Trolley. We were on out way to Famous Parkway for a «Po Boy»! As we walked by we smelled this awesome smell. We stopped instantly and went in. We asked for a to go menu. There was none but the young lady told us different choices she thought was great. Again smelled so good we were going to just come here instead. I thought about this place all that night whi was yesterday. So today, we finally get there! I was excited to go. The atmosphere was pleasant. The choice of a large area space or other smaller room. Erica was our server., she was very nice and patient. We explained that we were in a hurry to get back to Dallas. She assured if we ordered it would be quick. We were hesitant but Decided to go ahead and order. My hubby ordered Fried chicken, mac and cheese, green beans. I ordered Fried pork chops, mac and cheese with dressing. Let me tell you. … I loved it a lot! If you follow my reviews I am picky. There was NOTHING to complain about. Erica was my server and she was exceptional. The food is well seasoned. The chicken was tender, the sides were mm mm good. My pork chops were really really good. A different batter than the chicken. The mac and cheese was delicious and they use spaghetti noodles instead of shells… you don’t miss it. It has plenty of cheese, butter and definitely that homemade taste. The dressing it was good. It has some meat inside. Last but not least, Tre’ gave me a treat. I never had an oyster ever and swore never to eat it yukk. But I kept reading about these charbroiled oysters and i saw almost everyone with them. Tre’ was so nice enough to make me one. Hubby took pictures and I held my breath. When I tell you it was just incredible, that wouldn’t fully give it credit. I loved it, I’m thankful for both Ericka and Tre ! If you’re in the area definitely come here. You have to. I will definitely be back. I would go back now when we return for sure…

Review part 1: I won’t give a rating until I have had the complete experience but here’s the first run down: arrives at 8:15 for a dinner party for 10. The first guests were here at 8. I come inside to the bar. This bartender is CRANKING. Hardest working bartender in New Orleans. Hands down. And he was still pleasant. I ordered the Bow Wow. Which is the local’s Monsoon. Its not as sweet. And this kid made it heavy. Nursed that while we waited for the table. While we WERE on cp time, we were not seated until 10pm(-). That’s because they only have 2 ten tops in the place. It’s small. Our server arrived promptly to take orders(+) 10:55p. Food arrives! Every one is pretty toasted so we’re good. I ordered a dozen charbroiled oysters and wolfed them down in record time. They were hot and cheesy. Nice and garlicky. A bit on the small side, though. I’d put them just a hair below Drago’s.though Drago’s cbo aren’t consistent. Tis the nature of oysters. I had the red beans and rice with a side of fried chicken. They were good, not sure if they were the best I ever had. I prefer mine more on the creamy side than the gravy side. A liberal dousing of Crystal hot sauce tied it up nicely. The fried chicken gets a 10 out of 10. Crispy, not greasy, perfectly seasoned. With no room for dessert we head out into the night. All service we received was very very good. People should keep in mind it’s a small restaurant serving a high volume of people, so there will be some waiting. Especially during peak times.

Dinner was excellent!!! My cousins and I had a long wait but it was so worth it. My server Angie was wonderful. The chargrilled oysters were amazing. The gumbo was phenomenal. I suggest that everyone have the chargrilled oysters and gumbo. I had the combination platter but I was far from wowed. It rated good but for the price, my plate was sparse. The Mac and cheese was awesome as usual. The green beans tasted like they were fresh out of a can. The stuffed shrimps my cousin had were great. My other cousin had the stuffed peppers. The stuffed peppers reminded me of my Maw Maw’s stuffed peppers. That’s a major compliment! The Bow Wow punch was strong and it hit all the right spots. My little cousins loved the punch. The punch was incredibly sweet but the kids adored it. All in all, I think we had an awesome late supper. All I have to do now is drive these kids home.

Let’s start here. I am from NOLA, I have been coming here since it opened. Let’s get a few things sorted it out with this place. I have not ever had bad service. I have had to wait. I have been there when they have ran out of items on the menu. I have had to share menus. I have been there when they ran out of Amber. Yes, lunch or Tuesday night is better than a Saturday night. If these things are just too much for you get over yourself, or move on. I am sure there is a factory kitchen with perfect everything serving less than perfect food, but you know what they say — sell the sizzle not the steak. If you can survive the horror of a small joint cooking up amazing food than you have a treat in store for you. Neyow’s is old NOLA, like the things I remember from my youth. A very un-assuming, slightly flawed, perfectly wonderful place that you can take a family to, and not pay a fortune. The food is some of the best Creole you can get. The Po Boys and Red Beans are top notch, and I love me some red beans and rice. NOW that we have that all out of the way we need to talk some serious business. Their fried chicken is top 5 in the city, beating out places that are supposedly chicken legends(they will go nameless). Seriously folks to not mess around and miss this stuff. Their char grilled oysters are the best in the city — there I said it. Let the chips fall where they may. I am a life long devotee of that other place — the one in Metry and the Hilton. I love that other place with all my heart, that being said I think these are better. It took a lot to say that, and I am going to stand by it. Get the char grilled oysters folks.

When you’re craving maw-maw’s home-cooking or have that itch for a Thanksgiving feast and its not quite November yet… Neyow’s to the rescue! The atmosphere is pretty laid back and chill. Not too big or too small dining area, but a weird shot-gun style set up that makes moving around kind of hard… or nearly impossible. I’ve been here on one other separate occasion and had a not so pleasant experience with some«regular» patrons who were causing a scene. Needless to say I held off on my review to try this place a 2nd time and I wasn’t disappointed. Everything we ate was amazing and reasonably priced. And the portions are huge! I had the stuffed bell pepper. Almost… as good as my moms lol. Seasoned perfectly with a ton of seafood and meat, and not a bunch of filling. The mac and cheese was a great accompaniment, but the star of the evening was the carrot soufflé. It was like sweet potato pie! So there was no need to order dessert. My friends ordered the pork chops, seafood platters, chargrilled oysters, and gumbo. They raved about them as well… especially the side dish of cornbread dressing. Additionally, if you’re in the mood for a drink… there’s this thing called a Bow-Wow…that would give the Monsoon at Port of Call a run for its money. Tons of light and dark rum with fruit juices. Oh and if you finish one while you’re there, you can get another for just $ 5. All around good experience. The food never disappoints no matter what you order.

I agree with the others concerning customer service. It is horrible. The waiter guy will just walk pass you. You to ask for service while he is passing. And once you do he doesn’t ask is there anything else I can get for you. My daughter ordered the po boy grilled chicken sandwich with comes with choice of dressing. He never asked what dressing would you like to have on you po boy sandwich. We had to ask him while walking pass for a dressing and he bought it back in passing. The food and the house punch was good but the service made it unbearable.

Maybe me and my crew came on a really good day — there was room inside and our waitress was great, attentive and knowledgeable. I had the strawberry lemonade(really, really good) and shrimp creole which ended up being my favorite dish out of all the food I’ve tried in NOLA. It was incredibly rich and full of flavor. My friends had pulled pork and fried chicken which were also good, but in my opinion not as good as the shrimp creole. I need to come back for that and dat lemonade.

Still great red beans that are some of the best in the city and a surprisingly great fried catfish to go with it. Service though is still a mess as more employees are in a out on a weekly basis.
