Mona’s Café is a Frenchmen Street food find that is good for a quick bite to eat before walking to one of the music venues up the street. This is a combination café and small grocery store on Frenchmen and I wanted to eat something light this evening. I ordered grape leaves appetizer and a beef kabob sandwich and the food hit the spot. Service was friendly and efficient and I made it out the door for about $ 10 plus tip.

If you’re looking for good quality eats on the lighter side, this is the place. It’s not a fortune like most places to eat in Nola and it’s good quality, delicious middle eastern food! The chicken salad and falafel plate are yummy and you have to try the Lebanese tea! It’s delicious!!! And it’s right on Frenchman St. So you can’t go wrong. Don’t let the décor fool you!

Coming in on the evening before Krewe du Vieux started, they were on the busy side of life. Service was excellent. The restaurant was neat and clean, and the tables were quickly cleared as customers left, which is awesome. Frenchman street is on the eastern border of the French Quarter and holds several restaurants, bars, and tattoo parlors. You must pay for parking on Frenchman, unless there is a parade, then no parking. Just a few streets over is free parking. If a member of your party is handicapped, I would suggest dropping them off there, then go looking for parking. To drink, we each had a Lebanese iced tea that came with pine nuts floating on top. It was refreshing and delightful. The food was pretty darn awesome. I came with the guy, and we usually end up sharing the dishes. We started with the grape leaves with meat inside, and they were warm, delicious and quite yummy. We each had our own bowl of lentil soup, and it was also good with the pita chips that came with the soup. The shish kabob combination plate was more than enough for the two of us. The plate came with warm pita bread, hummus, a light salad, chicken, beef and lamb. It was so very good. With the bill came Jordan almonds as a desert, which was a nice touch. I will be back, either on my own or with others and look forward to recommending this restaurant in the future.

Food was excellent; service was not real quick but when food was ready, it came out real quick. maybe it was a parade night. maybe it was a full house at all points from afternoon until nightfall. just maybe! Food: I love how much of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern spices and culture came along in our food tonight. Grape leaves with meat inside were totally«off-the-chain»!!! Red Lentil Soup just kept me warm all night. Finally, the main course was this combination kebab(lamb/beef/chicken). because it came as a dinner entrée, my friend and I got to share a salad(yummy and light vinaigrette) and hummus with pita bread. We tried this thing where we carefully opened up the pita bread, spread a little bit of hummus in it, and grabbed your choice of meat to create this kebab roll. I would totally recommend trying this out cuz the pita bread and hummus helped balance any of your meat choices. Mona’s café serves this very delicious Lebanese tea over ice. It had these edible and soft seeds in them that gave you something to kinda play with while you wait for your food to arrive. Thanks Mona’s Café on Frenchman Street!

We just killed the chicken kebab with rice as an alternative to hummus, and a salad with their homemade dressing. The dressing was so good we got some on the side and want to bring some home, hands down the best dressing I’ve ever had. The chicken was perfect, tender, flavorful, perfect! The rice was great, not dried out. We also came at the end of the day and the pita bread was warm and amazing. We’re coming back tomorrow to try more off their menu. The staff is also incredibly friendly. Absolutely awesome experience.

Ate here for lunch, had the chicken kabob and it was fabulous! Tasted my dates lamb and it was the best I’ve ever had. Our waiters name was Emmanuel, within three minutes of sitting down and talking to him we knew we were going to have great service; he was superb! Great food and service, would recommend.

Great spot for a quick lunch and some fresh Middle Eastern flavors. With all of the hearty dining options in New Orleans, this was a great alternative.

Loved this place. Too bad we are just typical tourists searching for the perfect cajun/creole food. Had the grape leaves and the fava beans. Both outstanding!

Mona’s is a cool place to break up the hustle and bustle of new Orleans! Located on Frenchman street, in the midst of many bars and whatnot, this is a great place for some authentic middle eastern cuisine. Great service and really good food

Found this place when the Wife and I got caught eating out late on a Friday on Frenchmen St with NO reservations. I looked around and saw this spot and knew it wouldn’t be what the overly hipster/southern crowd would like too eat. I was correct. Food and service were excellent! Eat a lot of Mediterranean back home in NY so we knew how and what to order. Authentic stuffed grape leaves(not out of a can like most places try to pass off) and Falafel made from scratch. The hummus, sauces and chicken were awesome. Quick story; there was a younger couple staggered in and had no idea what type of food it was. They were completely ignorant and thought it was Chinese. Their MAJOR loss.

Overpriced. We went there the day of the power surge and they served my girlfriend the contaminated tap water. She didn’t drink it. Side note, I heard the owner defending ISIS at the next table when I ate there. Added side note, someone(the owner?) messaged me on Unilocal telling me to keep my opinions to myself. Great customer service there, buddy. Edited to 1-star.

Love Monas in the Marigny. Great place for fast, healthy Mediterranean food. Open late, which is great or you can call and pick up which is convenient. Hummus, falafel and tabouli are solid — recommend the chicken shawarma for walking and eating.

Delicious food and amazing service. My waiter was Emmanuel and he is probably the best server I have ever had. So, detailed, organized, refilled my water every chance he could and anticipated guest needs. :) highly recommend this place

Fresh Middle Eastern cuisine steps from the French Quarter with a selection of beef, lamb, chicken, fish, and vegetarian dishes. If you’re hungry you can start out with the Mona’s special appetizer which is hummus, baba ganuj, grape leaves, tabouli, falafel, kibby and lebna. The menu says it is enough for two, but it is really enough for three or four if everyone is ordering entrees to follow. I love the catfish plate as well as the sauteed shrimp. The good ‘olé staple of chicken shawarma is moist and perfectly seasoned. If you live in or you’re staying nearby in the Quarter or Marigny, they’ll deliver. What more can you ask for…

Fresh food & friendly service. I never though I would eat at a Turkish restaurant in the heart of NOLA… The service was outstanding. The food was traditional Turkish. I highly recommend this restaurant when you are done or over eating creole,

This place won me over with being so affordable! When I’m on my meat free days but still want head out to Frenchmen for some good music and a few drinks I usually make a stop at Mona’s. Here the hummus, wraps, sauces, and everything in between is quite delicious. I tend to show up on busy days often.(What can I say, I’m a people person) So my thoughts on service is a bit on the iffy side. I understand with experience in a restaurant when your restaurant is packed things can quickly become a blur and things end up being forgotten but what is hard to forgive is when you get attitude from service. I wish my unfortunate experiences were one off but is seemingly becoming all too often on busy nights. My suggestion if you are a first time customer, try this place for lunch during the week. Given that there will be less customers during this time you will be able to see this restaurant perform at its best. As a suggestion for the restaurant, please prep table service to maintain a level of professionalism, even during stressful situations, create a better system for insuring tables are not forgotten and keep making delicious food.

Located on one of my MOSTFAVORITE streets in all of NOLA… is Mona’s. This place is a grocery store & a restaurant &&&&&& a LANDMARK; these guys have been here forevvvvvvvvver. Wow!!! AnyWHO… I wanted a gyro & although my second choice, they were open at 6p on a Sunday afternoon & I was able to get take out. I entered the door, place my order with this sweet little lady who greeted me with the most welcoming smile. And then I perused the place as I waited for my order to be completed. While I was looking, I found lots of food & drink items that I wanted to try, but remembering I was there to get a sandwich, I opted for a box of MANGOTEA(ooooooh as I write this review I’m sipping on it & it’s the greatest) & a FLAKY milk chocolate candy bar(totally melted in my mouth as I ate it). Once my order was ready, I paid for it & my other items, then left. Once at my destination, I sat to eat my sandwich, which I found it to be a little on the smaller size, lacking an ample amount of the tzatziki sauce that I so LOOOOOOOOOVE, more lettuce could’ve been added & some red onions. Also, I found the pita bread to be a little on the hard side. Maybe next time, I’ll sit to eat & see if that makes the difference. But mark my words, I will definitely be back for more of that oooooh so delectable Mango Tea.
