MUCHBETTERPRICEVALUETHANNEIGHBORTED’S A friend and I were fresh from the optometrist with dilated eyes, wearing those loony amber shades. I suggested Ted’s Frost Top because he had never been. Neither of us could see the menu well but I could hear him muttering: everything has 4 numbers!(i.e. nothing was under $ 10.00). A small cheeseburger there with onions, fries and single serve cola totals $ 11.50 pre-tax! We opted instead to head a few doors down to reliable Moe’s for a ½ chicken with 2 sides, corn bread and refillable drink $ 10.75. JALAPEÑOCHEESEGRITS! Is a delicious and not too spicy side if on the specials menu(pic). And although Moe’s is new, in under 6 months this restaurant now hosts a continuous queue of local workers, contractors and students slamming their quick serve counter.

So I happened to run into three of my employees today on Calhoun street. Being a generous boss, I decided to treat them to lunch, after all tgif. Of the three restaurants in the area, we decided to try Moe’s. I had the smoked chicken and the guys had the pulled pork. All the food was excellent. I love the atmosphere, its what I recall from my childhood, having lunch with my father in Dallas, Tx. Serving size is just right for lunch as well as the price of the meal. I will be back.

I had this place bookmarked for a while. I was finally in the neighborhood, so decided to stop by for an early lunch. I’m glad I did. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich, which was really good. I chose mac & cheese and potato salad as my 2 sides. The mac & cheese was great. It was a baked mac & cheese, which is what I like. The potato salad was decent, but wasn’t anything super special. I also wanted to try their white BBQ sauce, and they gave me some on the side. It was also great. The parking situation could be a challenge during peak hours. The service was great. Very friendly people. I’ll be back.

If you love copious amounts of salt in your food, this is your place. My turkey sandwhich and Mac & cheese both have so much potential. At first I thought it was just me but my friend throughly agreed with my assessment. I’m not sure if it was just today or that’s how it usually is, but I’m not a fan of extremely salty foods. I will say the corn bread was solid. And that banana pudding has had to be the best I’ve had that wasn’t made my the women in family. That was the highlight of my stay. Everything other than the salty foods were great from the helpful cashier to the clean facility they maintain, but I safely say the likelihood of my return to this place is very low.

Brian and his team at Moe’s did a FABULOUS job catering our rehearsal dinner. The communication was great, prices were excellent, and food was top notch. It even pleased a picky Texas crowd. I cannot say enough about how nice Brian is and how delicious the food was. We ordered the pulled pork, smoked turkey, baked beans, mac and cheese, cole slaw, broccoli casserole, cornbread, and potato salad, and topped it all off with a tray of bread pudding. Great for feeding a large crowd. I think one of my bridesmaids even said she would bathe in their white BBQ sauce — it was that good. Overall so happy we went with Moe’s, and the restaurant will always have a special place in our hearts!(and stomachs)

Very happy to have found this place! I ordered the pulled pork plate and chose mac & cheese and their«side of the day» peach cobbler. Everything was delish! Their red sauce was fantastic and I particularly liked how they kept it warm in their crockpot for you to use. My boyfriend ordered the smoked wing plate and I didn’t hear a peep from him while he was chowing down – must’ve been good! Staff was so friendly and helpful when deciding. We went there for a late lunch around 3pm and they were out of a few items so we’ll be sure to come earlier to try everything.

This is a good use of this location and brings a little extra life to this area that has a few other restaurants. The décor is warehousish with warmth of wood benches, is simple but cute. Service was very fast with patrons ordering at the front and picking up their own food. As we walked up, we ran into our neighbors going for the first time as well. They had ordered the chicken and special of the day, pulled pork nachos, which looked amazing. So, I ordered the special as well, my husband ordered the pulled pork sandwich with mac & cheese and sautéed apples, and my son had the ribs with Mac & cheese and chips. We added 2 Blue Moons and a lemonade. Our food was up fast and presented more appetizingly than your typical bbq place. I didn’t love my nachos as there was a sweet vinaigrette cole slaw as one of the topping that dominated the dish and was too sweet for me. The pork on my dish was good and the chips were handmade but the coke slaw drowned out the other flavors. My husband enjoyed his pulled pork, saying he’d go back for it. The Mac was decent out not special, and I had bit of his apples, which seemed homemade and were quite good. The ribs were pork with a sauce that’s a bit different, Carolina style. Good for its style but not my favorite bbq sauce. Ribs were good but not special. My neighbor had the chicken which was very juicy and she enjoyed. Every bbq joint has its strength, and here it is the pork. Worth a try and the prices are quite low. Great food value.

This place is super cute! I just found out about it in the last week, otherwise I would have been there way sooner. It is really close to Tulane’s campus, behind Frostop and across from Bud’s Broiler. So first pro, lots of empty street parking around it. We went for lunch on a Friday and had a really positive experience. You order out a counter and then they call your name and you bring it to your table. The sandwiches and plates come with two sides. The price is really great! And they have tons of daily specials for sides. Another cool thing, they have normal sides like Mac and cheese, beans, potato salad but also sweet sides like banana pudding. I got the pulled pork sandwich with potato salad and a special side of sweet potatoes and corn. That was a little sweet for me, but the rest really good! The sandwich comes topped with pickles. My guest got a plate of the smoked chicken with white bbq sauce, sweet potato casserole(special side) and banana pudding. This meal also came with corn bread. The food was great. Competes with the joint for best bbq in town. Only negatives: the place was really dirty. Our table was«cleaned» but there were straw wrappers and napkins just pushed to the end of the table. Also underneath the table there were used napkins and food scraps. Also, they were all out of some of their regular sides(Mac and cheese specifically) at noon on a Friday. Seems like that would be too early to be out of something. But I did love the food and I think it is awesome that they had 5 daily special sides written on a chalk board that change, well, daily. All in all, I would recommend for a casual lunch and will be going back.

Strange but true: I learned about Moe’s because I’m an Über driver. You see, I was doing some driving to make a little extra cash when I picked up this nice group of Southerners who squeezed 4 people into the back seat of my Camry, with a fifth up front with me. It turns out that they are family members of one of the founders of Moe’s, and they suggested I give it a try. I finally found myself in that part of down around lunch time today and I certainly am glad that I gave it a shot. That place is damn good! Since it was my first visit, I went with standards: pulled pork sandwich, baked beans, coleslaw. The pork was tender, the sauce was sweet and tangy with a hint of spiciness, and the slaw was vinegar-y and pepper-y. Everything was great. And it came with a fountain drink, all for $ 9.80. That’s a pretty good deal, I’d say. I will DEFINITELY go back to try some of their other offerings. Got my eye on the ribs especially. People were nice, everything was clean, and service was quick. Looks like they are serving alcohol now too, for those of you who have to have a beer with your BBQ. Thanks, Moe’s! And thanks, Über.

I ventured over to this spot in my neighborhood during Easter weekend. a) Thank you being open b) incredibly friendly staff. I had the BBQ chicken sandwich with slaw on top. The bun of the sandwich was unbelievable! Just think Company Burger buns for you locals. The chicken was tender and juicy. Not a lot of smoke but remember… not all heroes wear capes, not all BBQ has be doused with smokey flavor. The slaw topping brought in that vinegar flavor that brought it all together. The slaw was a typical southern slaw just FYI. Outstanding sandwich!

Neighborhood barbecue joint with daily specials(Brisket on Tuesday). Immaculate, customer-focused, copious portions. Full-bar(which I’m learning is the norm across the spectrum) with brews on tap as well. Moe’s gives you a great neighborhood feel and very tasty barbeque. Not sure whether this is a chain or not — but I’ve never heard of it(I’m from TLH) and even if it were a chain, it’s a great place to have the ‘Q.

We were very happy to find this nice barbecue restaurant just a block from where were staying in New Orleans It’s reasonable clean inside the staff was very friendly and helpful we both had pulled pork sandwiches with sides and a drink. The pork sandwiches had tons of meat on them and very tender. We enjoyed it because it was very good and very close for us to walk to.

Amazing! I love how much food you get and you can even add a side if you want one more. My mac and cheese was missing and I was waiting for it and the cook was like what do you need I explained and there was no fuss and he apologized profusely! It is quiet, homely, and delicious. Whenever I need BBQ this is the place I will go!

I am very picky about my barbecue. Always have been, always will be. I randomly found this place on Unilocal and, having never heard of it, had to give it a try. The restaurant looks like you would expect it to, concrete floors with a pretty utilitarian ambience. Perfect, I’m here for the food, not the environment. The service was quick and clean, one of the advantages of BBQ is that it can is that it just can’t be made to order. The pulled pork was solid and is my yardstick for a barbecue place. Not charging for slaw, a required condiment in my book is a HUGE bonus. They had some great drink specials that made it 11 bucks(plus tip) for a sandwich, two sides and a good IPA. I can’t see how you would beat that. They’ve got a solid selection of aides; the mashed sweet potatoes are the best of their regular sides that I had. The slaw is similarly excellent and is house made. I don’t think I’d go for the potato salad again, it didn’t strike me as particularly special. Overall this is a solid BBQ place one of the best in New Orleans, a welcome addition for a city that while known for his food isn’t exactly on the barbecue atlas.

The moment you walk into Moe’s is when your satisfaction begins. The staff is very inviting and genuinely interested in making sure you enjoy your dining experience. The owners are exited about their business and have put a lot of time, education and effort into creating this new, growing New Orleans spot. The menu is on the wall along with a board below displaying daily specials. The team gets in early every morning to ensure fresh, authentic BBQ on each plate created throughout the day. Moe’s meat is smoked in-house in a smoker(check it out if you have the chance and see just how much intricate planning goes into your meal) and each side is crafted from scratch daily. Now for the food details… No matter what you order, it’s going to be good. Wings aren’t typically my go-to, but at Moe’s, I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of flavor, even before adding sauce. The smoked chicken wings were definitely my favorite of the meats I sampled on my first of what will be many trips. The turkey is juicy and full of flavor, some of the best turkey you’ll find at a NOLA restaurant. The pulled pork and ribs are tender and tasty. As for sides — if the collard greens are on the daily specials menu, I’d highly recommend adding to your order. The potato salad and cornbread are my two other side favorites. If you’re a fan of baked beans and coleslaw, Moe’s has those down as well. My advice — go hungry, eat everything. Moe’s Original BBQ has definitely snuck a way into the top spots for BBQ in New Orleans.

This place is right next to my new apartment, I discovered it the first week I moved and I can’t get enough. I love BBQ pulled pork sandwiches and they do it right. They also have«special sides» every day and they’re always different and never disappoint! My favorites have been the cornbread dressing, boudin balls, and cheese grits. They also have a decent selection of local beers, because what goes better with BBQ? It’s nothing too fancy inside, you walk up and place your order and then take it with you, but there’s outdoor seating whenever the weather allows. Outdoor seating is a must for me. I will continue going back. Moe’s found themselves a new regular.

Hands down best BBQ in the city. Dem boys from AL are doin’ it right. 2 and 3 $ beers, daily plate lunch specials. I have never written a Unilocal review but am doing this out of the sheer appreciation for the plate of smoked meat I just ate. Go see and you will believe
