One of my favorite sushi spots in the city. The head sushi chef there is amazing and nothing shy of an artist. She’s even made things for us we’ve requested that aren’t on the menu. Great customer service. Our favorite rolls are the fried fish roll and the scorpion roll but I’ve never gotten a roll there I didn’t like!

When we arrived we were told a 10 minute wait. It was 45 minutes until seated and an hour until we saw a menu. The food was decent and reasonable but it was the first time in 20 years we have not left a tip.

Everyone’s pretty much said it all. They have parking. The food is good. The hibachi table is fun and the hibachi comes with ice cream. The service was good. The downfalls are the price and the smoky atmosphere.

Great food and drinks but hospitality sucks. Tonight we had a dinner party in there private room. Three weeks ago I paid to reserve a room which was suppose to be returned tonight. But they claim that is not true… you rent the room and money is not returned. When myself and some other family walked in… they made us wait until the rest of our party came… yet I am renting this room. I repeatedly ask why can’t i go back there if i paid to reserve it until i had to beg. It was a surprise for my parents on there 40th wedding anniversary so we wanted to surprise them in the room. They claim they were getting the room ready. If i reserved the room for 6pm then why are you just now getting it ready? After the surprise we took pictures then sat down. I noticed after, about 35 minutes, that they just turned the hot tables on. It’s two sides so we had two chefs. One came out but apparently the other hot tables were taking to long to heat up. Again repeatedly, i had to ask what was going on. One side was almost done eating before the other even got their rice. They offered free ice cream but that never came for my parents. We voiced our complaints but they didn’t care not one bit. Hospitality and care for their customers are non-existent. The floors where very slippery and the windows seals were disgusting. They claim the room fits 25… that’s a lie because we had 19 people and that was a tight fit. Will never go here again or recommend it.

This was my first time here. I came during lunch, and I must say, it was a pleasant experience. I ordered the Hibachi Calamari, and it was delicious. The guy, whose name I can’t remember was awesome. I’m gonna come back again, but for the dinner service.

PROS: The food was great. Prices were reasonable given the amount of food that you get with your meal(soup, salad, meat, mein noodles, & Fried rice for extra $). The drink menu was exceptional! CONS: there’s very poor ventilation here, so the place was kinda smokey from the grilling– made my eyes burn. the Yum yum sauce was not good at all.

I’ve never eaten the hibachi here. I go here for the sushi and it’s quite delicious. I love the Dream Roll. I’m sad to see it has such a low cumulative score.

Worse experience ever! Food wasn’t good, bugs flying in and out of food, cooks weren’t pleasant. Gruuuuhhhhhh so aggravated sitting in here, this place charged $ 2 for spicy mayo!!! And 3.50 extra for fried rice, the waiter forgot everyone’s extra sides. Steamed white rice, a side of chicken, just a piece of crap!

Although I normally enjoy coming here, I just arrived at 9:50PM and was rushed to order by the server who said it was last call although their website says they don’t close until 10:30. He was so rude and demanded that we order immediately, so we decided to just leave without ordering. This was extremely disappointing customer service from a place that I frequent.

We finally got back here after some five years. Better than we remembered. «Tempura» not real, but better than most here. We can’t find REAL tempura anywhere here ! Miyako is one of the best of the crowd here. I wish we could find real tempura !

My SO and I wanted some hibachi for a personal celebration, and being limited to Shogun on Vets or Miyako as our only two real options, we went with Miyako. I’m not sure why the ratings are so poor, but we definitely enjoyed our experience. We got the chicken hibachi and steak hibachi, each coming with clear soup, a small asian salad, a two shrimp appetizer, fried rice($ 3.50 extra), noodles, and veggies. That’s a LOT of food, but good riddance, for $ 20 – 25, it better be a lot. We were seated on one end of the grill table, and two girls(maybe on a date too???) were seated at the other end. The chef was an older gentleman, but was still enthusiastic enough. And my SO and I were way more into the chef’s show than the other girls were. Some things he did — onion volcano, onion choo choo train, flipped eggs into his pocket, split an egg in the air with his spatula, flipped a pepper shaker into his hat, and flipped small pieces of shrimp into our mouths. He also did a few of the hand moves hibachi chefs normally do, but nothing overly extravagant. Now, onto the food. The soup was pretty basic, but such is clear soup. The salad was mainly lettuce with a few pieces of purple cabbage and shredded carrot, and had a pretty good Asian dressing. Then the hibachi chef came out and got everything on the grill. We got our fried rice first — steamed rice cooked with soy sauce, Asian seasoning, and fried eggs — nothing special, but still good. Then we got our two shrimp — again nothing extravagant, but good. He then moved on to finishing up the meats. I asked for my steak medium, and that’s what it was. It tasted pretty damn good too(those Asian seasonings…). My SO’s chicken was a little dry, but the sauces on it helped to mask the dryness. Then we got our veggies — onions, carrots, broccoli, and zucchini. I ate almost all of mine, and took at least half of everything else home, so that’s saying something. And last we got our noodles. These ended up being a bit salty for our taste, but still good enough to eat and take home for leftovers. The chef then asked to fling small pieces of shrimp into our mouths. I got it on the first try!!! My SO got it on her third try! And the other two girls declined to attempt — losers. Anyway, the chef thanked us and cleaned up and went back to the kitchen. We ate as much as we could without getting sick, and took enough home for two lunches for me. All in all, we enjoyed our experience. Both the entertainment and the food were above par in my opinion. Certainly not deserving of 5 stars, but still, with the quantity of pretty good food we got, 4 stars it is. And Miyako will now be our go-to hibachi place.

Lunch time, not many other people in restaurant. So we were made feel very special, our Chef master was superb. Impressive young gentleman who knows English and Spanish! Food was so yummy, drink special was fun too. Only complaint was that they did not offer traditional yucky & yummy sauce.

Been twice walked there for lunch ordered and went shopping next door at Office Depot and back still waited for three rolls to be made! Waited at least 45 min both times for three sushi rolls! And some customer walks in and is picking up 6 bags of food. There needs to be priority on catering orders here. Meanwhile the boss lady is playing on her phone behind bar! Food is good but service and management needs to learn how to maintain order priority!

Good food however not the best for picky eaters. Tried to order a complex hibachi order last night and they got it wrong. If your simple you will love the food. The experience is sub par. Our cook did not really talk to us at all did not keep us engaged and did not fee the sauce bowls up unless you asked. Overall great food. Large portions but a sub par experience. However some people may like that. We were in and out in 45 min so it was quick.

Been here before and I’m just sitting to review… oh well, no time like the present. So here we go: A sushi & hibachi restaurant that creates total ambiance upon entrance. Coming with a group, we called ahead to ensure seating. We were required to wait for all group members before being seated, this seems to be the norm as of late. AnyWHO, once seated, our order was taken & the hibachi was on & poppin. Entertainment by the hibachi chef was quite the thrill. From hiding eggs in his toque hat, to popping shrimp & steak into our mouths with his cooking utensils. How cool, huh!!! I’ve seen this before, but it is always amazing to see the precision with which this feat is performed. So on to the food… The group: Hibachi grilling — stir fry veggies, fried rice, surf & turf, grilled lobster, filet mignon, chicken etc. Sounds of smacking lips let me know all was well. When I inquired, these assumptions were confirmed and then talk of lunch for the next day & not sharing with loved ones at home again gave confirmation. For me: Seafood soup — delicious, tasty noodles, properly seasoned, tongue tantalizing base & steamed veggies made for a tasty filling treat. The seafood that made up the seafood soup was also succulent & flavorful. I also ordered a dragon roll, which was also tasty and helped for a very filling meal. To be noted: Gratuity is added for parties of 5 or more Separate checks are available Parking is limited as this restaurant shares parking with the nearby Office Depot

My husband and I would visit an hibachi restaurant in Minnesota EVERY other Friday. The showmanship and the amount of food was so amazing! Miyako however lacks the I-want-to-come-back je né sais quoi? The Chef’s have no personality and the food is sub par. Where is the sake down your throat? ?!! We will eat the leftovers but won’t come back for more.

Don’t charge me almost $ 12 for a sashimi lunch that promises 10 pieces of fish then 2 of them be giant pieces of tamago(egg) and the rest, except the dreaded mackerel, be little slivers of fish. Of course no substitutions. I come here because it’s close to the office. I wouldn’t recommend it. Maybe the hibachi is good; never tried it.

After running up a pretty heft tab at Avenue Pub one Friday evening, the boyfriend and I decided we needed to get some food. We were both craving sushi and not wanting(needing) to drive, so we ended up meandering down to Miyako. Aaaaand, an hour or so later the night officially goes down as one of the most unintentionally expensive date nights on record. I hate how they cram so many people ifrom different parties so closely together those grill tables(that’s a comment on hibachi in general, not specific to this place.) Take out a couple of chairs and give folks some room to breath! We were seated at the dead center of the table, which is pretty much my idea of hell(made worse by the fact that we were stuck in the middle of two different, yet both awkward, double dates), but I digress. The service was okay. We were seated quickly. Ordering was easy, if not a little chaotic. There was no going around the table and getting everyone’s order, it was all over the place. We didn’t get a sushi menu at first, so our roll order went in late and they didn’t come out until we were halfway through dinner. No one was overly helpful, but I didn’t feel neglected either. The«show» was pretty ho-hum, but when you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all. The rolls(I have no idea what we ordered) were okay. Nothing to write home about, but nothing particularly offensive either. The hibachi was pretty standard fare. There was ice cream at the end, which was a first for me. But gaah… neither of us was expecting the hefty bill that arrived after that ice cream. I know hibachi ain’t cheap and, like I said, we did order a couple of rolls, but it there was still some definite sticker shock going on. However, I’m pretty sure that meal is the sole reason I managed to wake up the next morning feeling human… and, it was a helluva a lot less expensive than a trip to hangover place across the street. So I guess, all things considered, it’s just a matter of perspective. I can’t say that I’ll never go back if the opportunity presents itself. But I certainly won’t be clamoring to return either.

Miyako was pretty good and I would probably rate it 3.5 stars, but I can’t so it gets three stars. Me and a friend popped into this place when they were 15 minutes away from closing. Even though we came in late, the hostess happily seated us and we ordered. We decided on the salmon sashimi, a rainbow roll and a Philly roll. Only two pieces of sashimi come to an order, so we got three orders which came to about $ 10. The rainbow roll was a special roll and it was good, but I would have liked if it was a bit bigger for the price. It was nice that I didn’t feel rushed even though they were on the verge of closing when we arrived. I would probably go back, but it wouldn’t be my first pick for sushi in the city.
