I don’t usually post Unilocal reviews… But this is the second time in a row that the service has been horrible. The first time was on a night when the restaurant only had 3 other tables occupied. Tonight it was very crowded, so I understand having to wait longer than normal to be seated. But waiting 20 minutes to get a water when we finally got to sit down is a little excessive. They should really consider putting a hostess at the door to keep things organized– I stood for 30 minutes waiting to sit down(in addition to 5 other parties) with no acknowledgement from anyone taking names or anything. We were most disappointed with the food tonight. My fiancé and I both ordered the chicken curry appetizer as entrees(admittedly a strange choice at a Vietnamese restaurant– but we’ve both had it before and it was great). When it finally got to our table, the chicken and potatoes were both still FROZEN. I was mistakenly under the impression that they actually cooked their food in the kitchen… Not just(partially) thawed it out in a microwave. Overall– two rotten experiences here in a row means we won’t be coming back.

First, I have to say they have the slowest service ever. I think they need staff because I see one waitress and a couple of bar tenders that ended up being our waiter. It was a good 30 minutes before we even had a word spoken to us or water! Aside from that the food is good. Phở is good, loooove the pork«tacos», and the bahn mid is good too. Crab Rangoon is good but there’s no meat or bacon in it like it says, just straight cream cheese. Didn’t get to try the bubble tea but heard it was good as well. Overall would come back by they really need to work on the speed of service. I would’ve given t five stars if that had not been the case.

I drove 20 min to find this place because all of the other phở places around my apartment were closed on Sunday. It was well worth the drive. It’s street parking only, so be prepared to have to walk a bit from your car if you are coming during peak hours. The décor is contemporary. It’s not your typical Vietnamese restaurant. It was also very packed. I was alone, so I sat at the bar. It took about 5 minutes to get served at the bar because they were so busy. However, once I was served, the food came really quickly. I had the pork belly tacos and the spicy beef phở. Both were amazing. The tacos had so much flavor, and the beef was so tender in the phở. The pricing is pretty on par with most of the places around the city. $ 9-$ 10 for a nice big bowl of phở, and $ 5 for the tacos. I’ve been to about 7 – 8 different Vietnamese restaurants around the city, and this place is towards the top of my list. I will be back… with some friends.

The service is completely horrible. Waitstaff seem uninterested in providing any service. Multiple tables continue to need busing.

I love a good bowl of Phở and my cravings are extra high on a super rainy day. I have been to Mint a few times and it is always a nice meal. The staff greats you with a nice smile and are very helpful. A combination Phở of all the different types of beef is usually what I order. The broth is not too salty and not too overpowering. It has a very fresh taste and when you add the mint the flavor is even better. My friend ordered a Vermicelli bowl which they enjoyed and had a solid taste. Both of our plates were wiped clean by the end of the meal. For a drink I went brave and tried the Vietnamese Cocktail. It was such a strange mix of flavors of sweet, coffee, bitter, and then some alcohol. If you want something quirky then try that. The cook even came to our table to ask our opinion on the whole meal. This place is very popular and has a nice spot on Freret Street. I look forward to more visits here when I am in town.

Came here with family and friends during thanksgiving weekend and we’re all from California. Gotta say the food is good! We all ordered a little of something and shared, chicken and waffles with that strawberry sauce was amazing. I personally enjoyed the buns! We had the fried noodles(bun thit nuong), spring rolls, sticky chicken wings and they’re all good! Needa find a place like this in Cali :) Coming back to try their boba and bun bo hue soup this weekend

My boyfriend and I tried this place for a late lunch the other day. Immediately, we took a star off because of the obnoxious pop music playing. I’m sorry, maybe that’s extreme, but we believe music choices are important and when there’s crappy music playing at a restaurant, it kills our whole dining vibe. Then our dinner table conversation turns into a discussion of how much we hate today’s «hot» music. We ordered the avocado and shrimp spring rolls and the pork belly tacos to start with. These were awesome– really fresh and tasty! They serve the tacos on these delicious little bun things– the pork belly was cooked perfectly. For an entrée we had the veggie phở with beef broth and a tofu lemongrass vermicelli bowl. The phở left something to be desired. It wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t super memorable. You do get a nice sized portion, though. The vermicelli bowl was good, I really liked the lemongrass tofu. The description on the menu said it had pickled vegetables and peanuts in it, neither of which i saw, so i basically had a bowl of noodles with some tofu in it. The interior of the space is OK. I see what they’re trying to do but it could use some work. The service was average. The waitress was good but didn’t go out of her way to be extra friendly or anything. They refilled our waters often. Food arrived at the table quickly. All of the food(no drinks) — about 30 $. Would I come back here again– yes, probably. looks like they have a good happy hour. I might try some more of the appetizers – they all sound delish!

Being out from California I didn’t have high hopes for asian food out in New Orleans, but this place is a gem! The spring rolls were delicious, my fiancée got the seasoned noodles and chicken with broth. also delish, and got the combo phở(nom nom.) Oh, and we shamelessly inhaled the pandan waffle with green tea ice cream… get it, you won’t be sorry!

Yum! I love a good bowl of Phở and this place does it right! I met a friend here for lunch and was excited to add another place to my «NOLA Phở» list. We started with a plate of the pork tacos. The pork was tender, tasty and delicious. It was cooked in a typical Vietnamese fashion and it was quite tasty. I also decided to the«combo» phở which comes packed with New York strip, brisket and meatballs. WOW. This was such a delectable bowl! They were not stingy with the meat at all and the entire serving was huge! The broth held a lot of flavor and didn’t leave the meat to do all of the«flavor» work(as it sometimes does). The atmosphere here is pretty casual. We stopped in late on a Saturday afternoon and there were only a few other people in the place. Unlike some other Vietnamese places, Mint serves alcohol and even has a happy hour Tuesday through Saturday. I will definitely return to Mint for a tasty bowl and some apps!

Wow! First time here last night and I cannot wait to go back! We stormed in here with very little time to spare.(Phở is always a good idea if you need to eat delicious food and get the hell out of dodge). We were seated immediately. Placed an order within five minutes. I told the waitress we were in a hurry. Five minutes later… lemon pepper chicken vermicelli! Veggie phở! Both delicious and incredibly filling. The chicken was insanely good, and the light dressing they bring with it is superb. I put the credit card down while we were still shoveling the food in our faces and Wam! Bam! Thank youuuuuu Ma’am! We were in and out in 20 minutes! Seriously, though. This place is nice! Great ambience, good for small groups, kids(if they are so inclined), dates, girls night out… really just an all around nice place to be.

Great fusion food! I would’t necessarily categorize this place as a modern Vietnamese bistro just bistro with an Asian twist. The beef steak and eggs are good but not much beef to make a meal. The chicken and green waffles was good but the waffles are heavy. The chicken was good and the sauce for the waffles made the dish. The phở was good not great but good. The kimchi burger was great and the fries was fantastic. It’s worth the effort to come out here for dinner.

I really enjoyed the food here. I recommend the pork belly taco. Pork belly taco — served with some veggie in a sweet white bun(like the ones you eat with Peking duck). I highly recommend this. Bahn mi burger was good. Definitely worth a try. Lemon grass vermicelli was good. I wanted a bit meow vegetables in it. Kimchi burger was awesome. I got mine medium rare, it was really juicy and mixed really well with the kimchi. However, I thought the sweet potato fries were too salty.

Very good! I had heard good thing about Mint from a friend so I wanted to check it out for myself. I started with the Avocado and Shrimp spring rolls. These were the perfect light appetizer: they didn’t use a ton of noodle/filler in the rolls(looking at you, Magasin) and the shrimp and avocado paired great together. The peanut sauce they paired it with was really yummy and tasted home made. For my entrée I ordered the kimchi burger. The burger was cooked to a perfect medium. The bun was tasty and did a phenomenal job of holding everything together. I could have done without whatever sauce they put on the burger, but it wasn’t totally awful. The kimchi had a great flavor, although I wish it was a bit spicier. The sweet potato fries were good, but not the best I’ve ever had. I ordered mochi for dessert and it was really good and presented beautifully. I highly recommend the Red Bean! Service was awesome, the staff is really young and energetic, they were having a great time with the customers. The space is absolutely beautiful and they have a good happy hour. I will be back!

Went there today for lunch. Food: very good with lots of flavor. The distinct taste of lemongrass was highlighted well in the dish. Service: was average. The waitress took our order, brought our food to the table. After this we really did not see her again. We had to keep asking her for water. Sometimes it does get a bit annoying when the waitress continuously interrupts you while you are eating, therefore, I rated this service average. Price: we had the matcha boba tea, the grilled beef rolls, lemongrass chicken bowl with an egg and egg roll, and grilled pork bowl all for $ 31 plus tip. I may return… the food was good but there are other Vietnamese restaurants closer to where I live where the staff is a bit nicer. Namese is probably my favorite!!!

Well, since Mint is one of the very few, if only, places that serve bun bo hue Uptown, this is my to go place for it after work. Their broth is slightly murky with mild flavor and has a good noodle to meat ratio. The bowl usually includes a hamhock/pig’s foot and thin slices of cooked beef. No pig’s blood. Phở is average and flavor profile is inconsistent. Either the broth tastes pretty decent or other days it tastes flavor-less and diluted. Overall, my second favorite phở restaurant Uptown. The interior is bright and definitely has the modern theme going on, but there is too much echo from the infrastructure. Service is slow here. I would rate this place a 3.5 stars since it seems average to me compared to all the other Vietnamese places I have eaten at.

My coworker Steve Do put me onto this place. I’ve been hooked ever since. They have a nice setup and a great menu. All of their dishes are fresh and delicious. I like the modern approach they take to traditional Vietnamese dishes. You must try their boba tea smoothies. They are comparable to slushes but I add coconut to get that creaminess I like. Definitely give them a go!

ASIANTWIST The exterior is neat and clean with nothing to tip off a passer by of this NYC Theater and Hell’s Kitchen sorta like Asian restaurant. Everyone working the front room is American as apple pie. With one exception, they’re all Vietnamese. Except for the word«phở(fuh)», the terms used in their very simple menu are unique to Mint Modern Vietnamese Bistro & Bar. We ordered the following two entrees: Kim Chi Burger with Sweet Potatoes Fries … to see how it would compare to Las Vegas’s Bachi Burger’s Kimchi Burger. Unfortunately, no similarities but it was enjoyable nevertheless. Ordered it cooked medium-rare but delivered medium-well. BTW, kimchi is not Vietnamese. Yu-go would order it again. Mint’s Moon Crêpe(Banh Xeo) Shrimp, Pork, Bean Sprouts and Onions. I’m crazy about Banh Xeo and have eaten it dozens of times. The shrimp was pre-cooked and the tiny strips of pork would have been better served grounded for this type of delicate Vietnamese dish. Far from being the worst but nowhere near being what was looking for. Service was very friendly and consistent. Ambience and theme well thoughtout leaning towards modern. Compared to the neighboring restaurants, it’s obviously upscale and sophisticated.

We went here for a fellow Unilocal Elite and our good friend’s birthday, and what a brilliant choice she made! The place has a very casual but had a chic vibe to it with plenty of seating and large windows overlooking the outside world. We had a party of 10 and they were happy to cater for us by rearranging the furniture, though we did book in advance. There’s also a full bar there if you want to have a drink(or a few) while you eat, which is super convenient. Onto the food! I ordered the Lemongrass Chicken for my meal. It took a while to come out but I point that to them making all 10 meals at once and ensuring we all had food at the same time. Visually, the food was beautiful. A mound of rice, chicken in the middle, and mixed vegetables on the other end. The taste, omg, I found everything to be delicious. Dipping both the rice and the chicken into the supplied sauce blended the labors very nicely and the fresh vegetables gave me a great feeling afterwards. I would 100% recommend this place to others. The venue was great, meal was fantastic, and the service was very quick. Top notch!

NEWORLEANS’ 1STVIETNAMESEHAPPYHOUR? Most local Vietnamese restaurants don’t serve liquor. So it’s unusual that Mint Modern has a beautifully spacious focal point bar. They also have 10 apps under $ 6 including spring rolls, pork tacos(bao), and bacon & crab rangoon. A happy hour here is such an obvious niche no-brainer that they’re introducing it later this month, daily 3−6PM. NEWORLEANS’ 1STVIETNAMESESPORTSBAR? These guys love and know their teams(the new Yulman and it’s crappy concession food was part of today’s lively conversation). And obviously they don’t intend to miss any games because over the bar are two humongous HDs turned to both ESPNs. Again it’s a natural pairing: a wide variety of small plates, beer and the Saints. It also doesn’t hurt that the attractive young staff is both friendly and personable, or that the sophisticated space is bright and airy. I intend on being a regular.
