I went there the day after Mardi Gras, very nice and smelled awesome ! Free samples were really appreciated… I bought my pralines from the damaged merchandise tub, they were still warm and only $ 1.25 a piece…

Amazing taste! Staff was funny and attentive. Last, the Pralines are fantastic. Be sure to try the original and brittle pralines.

Rude staff. Couldn’t have cared less that we were there. I asked her several questions about stuff in the shop, to which she couldn’t be bothered to stop her conversation with her friend to help me. I checked in to get my free praline and the rude girl just pointed to the box. Couldn’t even put it in my bag with my stuff. Hence, praline was not taken.

Visited this place last week. No evidence of any cooking happening in the kitchen. The sample praline I tasted was not impressive. Other than samples, looks like all pralines are boxed & shrink-wrapped so it doesn’t look like any are made fresh to sell. There were way more souvenir items here than actual candy offerings. For the real-deal, traditional, fresh candy is being prepared less than a block away at Southern Candymakers.

While walking around New Orleans we stopped in to get our sugar fix and check out the candies they offered. I ended up purchasing a ¼ pound of the white chocolate cheese cake candies. I didn’t really want that many however the lady informed me that you purchase it that way. I wish I would have purchased some of the champagne candies but, I didn’t want two pounds of chocolates. They hit our sweet spot craving and even though this is somewhat of a tourist trap you should stop by and check out what they offer. They had free samples as well.

~~~Omiyage, Omiyage, Omiyage~~~ ~~~Gifts to bring back~~~ So what does a traveller from SoCal bring back to her family from her recent trip to NOLA? Hmmm… Chicory coffee and beignets from Café Du Monde? Nah!!! We have plenty of those in our supermarkets. T-shirts, shot glasses, magnets and key chains? So over-rated…they’ll just end up in a yard sale pile. Oops! Yes, at least in my yard sale pile. Sorry, I’m just being real here. Sweets like pralines, pecans, and bread puddings seem to be a recurring theme advertised throughout the French Quarter And Business Districts. Who has the best ones? Well IMO, after taste-testing a few samples, Magnolia Praline Kitchen stole my taste buds with their version of the candied pralines & pecans! Oooh, so crispy, creamy, and buttery and oh so yummy! The other places my friend and I tried tasted more sugary and melted away. We both preferred the creamy & buttery version. Short History read from side of my purchased box: Pralines were imported from France in 1727 by Ursuline nuns, who taught eligible young French women the art of cooking & candy-making. Over the years, recipes included locally grown pecans and sugarcanes. You can purchase a single serving for $ 2.49.(Don’t forget to check-in through Unilocal or FB to receive one for FREE). Try FREE Samples Here! Then there are boxes with individually wrapped servings ranging from 6cts to 10cts(up to 12cts at some locations). Best value in my opinion, would be the 8ct pralinettes for $ 12.99(smaller version). I went with the 10ct for $ 23.99. If there was a bigger discount, like say a buck fifty a piece, I would’ve purchased a lot more of these fine goodies. I am definitely inspired to make my version of this tasty treat for the upcoming holidays! Thanks for sharing your prah-leen confections with me, NOLA!
Really sweet cashier — very helpful with his personal preferences for chocolates and knowledgeable on the praline making. The chocolates were a bit overpriced, but they were pretty tasty. Original flavors like cream cheese and graham cracker, raspberry jam that had the texture of thick jelly, and the caramel apple minuette was delicious. They sell a bunch of random stuff so check the store out even if you’re not there for candy!
Pralines are tasty and not too sweet. There are also many good sauce tastings. However, prices for everything are overpriced and exorbitant. You can find similar brands at Central Market store or other praline candy stores for 30−50% cheaper.
How can you visit New Orleans, French Quarter, and not stop by?! The good, kind folks here make you feel like longtime friends and their fresh treats are soooo delicious! The hand-spooned pralines are cooled on cold marble slabs, and once ready, these water your mouth with buttery — crisp goodness. Also try their eyes-roll-back, toe-curling pecan brittle. Mm good gawd.
