My wife and I had a stay-cation in the French Quarter! We had heard great things about Mr. Ed’s Oyster Bar & Fish House after visiting the Kenner Mr. Ed’s(which is AMAZING, great home-cooking style dishes). We went and we were EXTREMELYIMPRESSED! We ordered raw & charbroiled oysters, which were the best I ever had! We ordered the red fish with etoufee & the seafood platter and it was OUTSTANDING! Highly recommended, great portions, amazing food & drinks and the prices were not bad at all, especially compared to other pricey French Quarter spots.

This was the last really good meal we ate in New Orleans and we saved one of the best for last! I almost made myself sick on their crawfish, the flavor was excellent and very spicy which is how I like it. My husband had gumbo which he said was really good. Also, we ate a bunch of oysters while in NOLA, and they probably had the freshest tasting ones that were served nice and chilled with all the fixins.

Sat at the bar and enjoyed a hurricane beverage before dinner. Bartender was very friendly and chatty and atmosphere was nice.

My friends, sister and I accidentally fell upon this place. Greeted with smiles and sat in Brian’s section. OMG this man is so knowledgeable with the menu! Being a server this really impressed me! Food was amazing! Friendly atmosphere! Must dine here if you visit New Orleans. Must ask for Brian!

Came here for our first experience with crawfish, and we were not disappointed! The service was awesome and the food was amazing. $ 9 hurricanes aren’t too bad, considering the location. It’s probably a little pricier than other places, but it was good. I would definitely recommend it to anyone!

Was very pleased with the oysters here. I came in for lunch and shared a dozen raw, a dozen southwest chargrilled and a crawfish poboy with my husband. It was a lot of food, but we finished most of it. The raw oysters were very fresh. Our waitress was nice and helpful with menu suggestions.

Really good, nice big clean oysters and a phenomenal banana crème pie. It’s a must have.

The causal place to go for fried seafood in the French Quarter. Not too fancy, not overpriced. Their take on oysters Rockefeller is great and so is the spinach crab dip. Babes loved her grilled oysters. So why only three stars, not sure. My po boy bread was not fresh and was dried up. I would not return, probably, too many other places to go in my favorite town.

We were in a 40 minute line for Acme when we decided on Mr. Ed’s. Food was fantastic! Great service. Comfortable restaurant, not as crowded as Acme the way they crowd the tables together. Raw and grilled oysters were delicious! Red beans and rice had just the right amount of spice! Highly recommend.

We’ve had many a’chargrilled oysters from all over the Southeast but DANG were these great AND unique! They don’t pile on the parm which I loved because it let the briney beauty of the oyster shine through. There’s almost a Mediterranean flavor or slight Italian seasoning touch to them which was surprisingly wonderful! Use the crunchy bread to scrap out all the buttery breadcrumb deliciousness left in the shells! Neil was wonderful and showed us beautiful and true NOLA hospitality! The staff was fun, inviting and passionate about their cuisine! Will be back!

In New Orleans for Jazz Fest and walked by this place on our way back to the hotel… decided to go back for diner, and very glad we did. You have to get the crawfish bread!!! It just mighty be the best thing I have every eaten! Great food and great service. A great place of the normal tourist map.

This location is newer than the others and I think the tourists have yet to catch on. Its small, like most NOLA restaurants but I have gone a couple times in the afternoon on weekends and not had to wait. My favorite is the charbroiled oysters, mostly because they serve a buttery loaf of bread to slop all the leftover oyster juice with. PHENOMENOL, who doesn’t like buttery, cheese sauce and bread?! The gumbo is pretty good too. Service is fast and nice which is what always pushes me to a 5 star review.

I was completely underwhelmed. The food looked tasty, but it was«meh». We ordered the bbq shrimp app and charbroiled oysters. The shrimp was bland. The oysters were too charbroiled. I was still tasting the over char hours later :( Our server was really nice and attentive. I wouldn’t recommend this place based on what I ordered, but maybe it was an off night

I wasn’t expecting much when I stumbled across Mr. Ed’s Oyster Bar and Fish House, the inside is full of cliché décor, nice but a bit cheesy, but I was more than pleasantly surprised by the service and food. Service was great, waitress was very helpful, quick with the service, great personality and overall fun. Guy outside was a good host and helped to convince me to give it a try. Food was a real treat, shrimp po boy was well made. Shrimp were a good size and were fried right. Bread was well toasted and fresh, tomatoes and lettuce were crisp and and the dressing was flavorful without being overwhelming. I can’t remember what it is called but I had this bread dish and it blew me away. Fresh, flavorful and all out awesome. The sauce was nicely seasoned with a decent kick, one of the better dishes I had in New Orleans. While a bit cheesy to look at, Mr. Ed’s was well worth a visit.

Every time I think about oysters I of think of Mr. Ed’s. I visited New Orleans back in August and this was very favorite restaurant. I figured I should really write a review about how much I enjoyed the oysters! The raw oysters, omg, they were so creamy and meaty. Slight sweet and not too brimy. I wished I remembered to ask the waiter what type of oysters it was. The charbroiled oysters were delicious. They were garlicky and buttery. Came with half a loaf of bread to soak up the juices! Crab cake over linguine was good. Just a little too salty for my taste. The crab cakes were huge and full of chunks of crab. The dish looks and taste better then my picture. Skip the hurricane cocktail. I thought it tasted like fruit punch. If I ever visit Nola, I would go back to Mr. Ed’s just for the oysters!

Went here on a Saturday night when visiting NOLA for the first time, and the food was just OK. I had the Crawfish Crabcakes with a side of jambalaya and they were just decent — not great, but not bad either. I would say they quality was not up to par with the price here. With that being said, the server was very friendly and we did not have a wait time even with a party of 7 on a Saturday night.

So what I was looking for some oysters while on a trip with my boyfriend and his family and couldn’t wait to eat some juicy wet oysters, so I walked down from the hotel. Thanks to Unilocal’s old un-updated pictures and reviews I was under the impression that this place was reasonably priced, but boy was I wrong. I ventured out of the room, not afraid of such a city in search for some oysters. The seafood that supposedly suppose to boost your sex drive. Yeah, the interior was nice, but it definitely had that sports bar feel to it. My waitress seemed odd as she thought I was way too young to be out at a restaurant all by myself. She wasn’t friendly either. The menu was expensive for what you get. Portion size was small and the price tag was huge. The oysters were OK; definitely wasn’t enough to fill me up. So, I ordered a small sized gumbo which I specifically asked my waitress if there was any pork in it as she said no. Even though, I found several pieces of LA sausages in it. I removed them all. No crabmeat at all. I’m glad my bill wasn’t an outrageous price as what I assumed it would be. I’d learned my lesson never to leave the group you’ve traveled with if they are the ones paying for everything.

Some of my favorite eats on my latest NOLA trip! I didn’t care much for the atmosphere but the food is what it’s all about. The place was packed on a Monday so we grabbed a couple seats at the bar. Our bartender was super friendly and we really enjoyed the conversation throughout the evening. We drank a delicious bottle of wine and it was almost $ 20 cheaper then when we ordered it at the bar before, crazy. I wanted to try everything on the menu and I told him we were about to order a lot. Luckily he put the food in one by one and by the 4th dish we gave up and ended up not trying the taste of New Orleans, I kind of regret not getting a side of the étouffée. We started with the oysters on a half shell, they were fresh and delicious some of the best we had on this trip. Then the charbroiled oysters were calling my name but since I had so many already we opted for the southwest version of them which were just as good but they added a jalapeño for a little spice. These oysters were the bomb I could have ordered a dozen more, Next up was the BBQ shrimp I love BBQ shrimp and this version did not disappoint. The BBQ shrimp was served on top of bread I think everything in NOLA is served on top of bread:) Overall a super tasty meal and I would definitely visit Mr. Ed’s again. They apparently own several other restaurants throughout the city as well.

Don’t let the reviews fool you, there are much better places for food in New Orleans. The location is convenient for tourists, the service is friendly, the décor is cute, and they are open Sundays. The food though? Very forgettable. Their Po-boys are made with seeded bread. Why?! Maybe if it were flakey and soft like the plain Leidenheimer bread, I wouldn’t have minded the change. But no, it was dry and way too thick. At least the Fried Shrimp in the Po-boy was good and very generous. The Gumbo with Shrimp, Crab, Chicken and Andouille was enjoyable, but it wasn’t outstanding by New Orleans standards. The best gumbos have intense layers of flavor and this wasn’t at that level. I could barely detect any crab either. Yes, the food is still tasty and it’s probably awesome for unknowing tourists… but if you are experienced in eating Cajun food, this will be a letdown.

On a complete whim, we decided to try out Mr. Ed’s Oyster bar because we were looking for a place that served good oysters and this place had pretty good reviews and the staff was friendly. We ordered Fried Alligator Bites and tried the Rockefeller Oysters as well as the Southwest Oysters… SOGOOD. The sauce they pair the alligator with is so good I could pair it with anything… The oysters were nothing like I’ve ever had before but they were hot out of the oven and served with warm/fresh bread. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. They’ve got cold beer on tap as well to cool off from the Louisiana heat. Our server was extremely good and my boyfriend and I were highly surprised that he was more friendly and on top of his game than the expensive dinner we had at a well known place the night before. Highly recommend stopping in here… it was well worth it!
