BJ was very nice (in person). But this isn’t a review of his personality, it’s of my experience trying to get my laptop fixed. He looked at my laptop ($ 20 charge to see what was wrong, which seems fair), then called me a couple days later to say that he couldn’t fix it without certain parts. He said he would call me back when he had a new estimate. When I hadn’t heard from him in another couple of days, I called and left a message. No returned call. I called again a couple days later, and he said he was having trouble finding the parts. Said he’d call me when he found them. Well, I found the parts myself with a google search within 15 minutes. Still haven’t heard back from him. I don’t know if he’s just super busy, or he just didn’t want to fool with it, but either way I feel like I’ve been strung along. I hate to give a bad review to a cat person (very sweet cats at the shop), but ultimately he’s $ 20 richer, I’m $ 20 poorer, nothing has been done, it’s been over a week, so I’ve had to contact another business. If I could have seen this review from another person, I could have saved time and money.

I brought an external hard drive here after my husband accidentally synced our computer with the external drive. This resulted in years of pictures being overwritten.
I called Magazine Street Computer Services and told the owner, BJ, what happened. He spoke with me about his background in forensics and told me that he would do his best to recover the data on the drive. WELL… a few days later, BJ called. He recovered everything that was missing and then some!
With that being said, for any computer services that I need in the future, this will be my go to guy!
