If you are looking for a real New Orleans food experience without pretentious of fancy pants items on the menu this would be a great choice. At first glance it looks like a bar but the mouth-watering display of oysters, crab legs and shrimp front-and-center when you walk in will tip you off to its real purpose. Lüke is buzzy, fun and the food, delicious. Diners at our table had everything from the étouffée to then fried oyster salad and all of it was delicious. They had an excellent selection of local beers, too. Casual, lively, great service and all at a reasonable price. When next in NO, we’ll be back.

Fantastic! Shrimp and grits are a Southern staple. — and Luke has it down to perfection. The presentation was superb-cast iron small plate. The shrimp were soft and succulent. The reduction gravy was on point. Damn GOOD! Nice size portion as well. But wait… BREADPUDDING + Bananas fosters + a scoop of ice cream on top= sweet heaven on earth. Whooooo Doooooogy it was GREAT! –and I don’t even eat sweets like that.

Came here for brunch on a Thursday morning at 10:30; we had reservations, but there were plenty of tables. Service was great, and the ambience of the place was old-school and cozy. I ordered the pain perdu, laughing at the irony that the dish has both challah and bacon, and excited for some sweet/savory goodness. It. Was. Delicious. And HUGE. I mean, really massive. I couldn’t finish it. The mascarpone sauce was really yummy, so much so that I hardly used any syrup. I enjoyed every bite. I also tried some of my husband’s fried chicken and tabasco honey biscuit sandwich(very yummy, only a little kick from the tabasco) and cheesy grits(yes).

The reviews did not lie. The bread pudding by itself deserved 5 stars. Completely awesome. You can taste the rum in the pecan sauce. OMG!!! The shrimp n grits had soooo much flavor, the shrimp were not over cooked, soo good. You would not be disappointed with this selection. Go for it. Make a reservation, it gets packed.

We had reservation at 3PM and of course we arrived 15 minutes early, Great! We can grab a drink at the bar. There were many empty tables so the host said there will be a little bit of a wait since they’re waiting for the table that they were planning to seat is at to close their tab. Of course I didn’t mind since we are early. We sat at the bar and ordered many rounds of drink until I notice that it’s 3:30ish, wow our reservation time had pass and the seating are being all filled up. So I walked up to the host she said it shouldn’t be anymore longer until we get seated… Ok we had reservation and didn’t even get seated until 45 mins later! Which I told myself I wouldn’t let that ruin my meal. We bumped into Happy Hour. Yay! $.75 Raw Oysters and $ 1.50 Fried Oysters. The raw oysters were so fresh but it wasn’t clean, I was biting into little particles of shells crumbs in my oysters and some looked dirty. The fried oysters tasted delicious and even the dip that came with it taste just right. I even ordered the Brussels Sprouts skillet, that was top notch. The seafood gumbo was okay… There was a few oysters, a few shrimp and some sausage. It was kind of bland to me. But at all it’s worth the experience!!!

My girl friends & I came here for brunch & I must say: EVERYTHINGISONPOINT. — The Nutella stuffed French toast was crispy, crunchy, lightly sweetened w/Nutella & on a bed of fresh whipped cream. — The brussel sprouts were lightly crisped, sweetened & delicious. — The flambé was amazing w/the melted cheese, large chunks of bacon & caramelized onions. — Wow, the crab omelette had huge pieces of crab meat. It also had nice chunks of tomatoes & stalks of asparagus. And the vinaigrette on the salad was lightly sweet, adding a nice touch to the greens. — I think I went to heaven when I ate the bread pudding… Vanilla ice cream on a bed of soft warm cup of bread pudding, yum yum yum. Soft, fluffy & lightly crunchy exterior topped w/candied pecans. YES! The service and food was so amazing, we ended up coming back for happy hour. Yes we did & boy, it was so worth it for those fat oysters & cheap drinks! A must when you’re in NoLa! Make reservations for brunch. So. Worth. It!

First, shout out to Kayla(spelling?), you were awesome!!! Came here during Happy Hour and decided to go light on the raw oysters because ACME Oyster Bar was scheduled for Wednesday. [ Good catholic boys can’t eat meat on Ash Wednesday =) ] Well, in retrospect, I regret that decision. Lüke served better oysters. They were delicious, fresh, big, and not gritty at all. ACME’s oysters had so much grit. However, this is about Lüke so… Be careful with the horseradish, it was really strong; you’ll clear any nasal congestion by overdoing it. I also got a half-dozen order of their fried oysters which is served with some really good dipping sauce.(5 out of 5) Crab Bisque: got a cup portion because my friend and I wanted to split multiple dishes to taste the menu but don’t do it guys, ordering the cup portion that is. This was so good! This creamy soup loaded with tons of shredded crab meat was my favorite of the night. Don’t pass on this! Must have!(5 out of 5) Crispy Brussels Sprouts: I wouldn’t call it crispy. UCHI in a Houston, Texas serves«crispy» BS and they’re worth every penny. I really liked this nonetheless; they come second after UCHI’s. The Marcona almonds gives a nice nutty tune throughout each bite and the Espelette honey gave it a sweetness that didn’t make you feel like you were getting a sugar overload.(4 out of 5) Shrimp & Grits: this has a little spicy kick to it from the jalapeños; somewhere between mild and medium on spice level. The Louisiana shrimps were meaty and tender and the grits very creamy in an andouille sauce with pieces of andouille sausages. I enjoyed it, it wasn’t packing with flavor so I wouldn’t say I’d order it again.(3 out of 5) Brendan’s Bread Pudding: I was told this is what their known for dessert wise. Though I liked it, I can’t say it was the best bread pudding. I would suggest you ask for an extra side of their pecan sauce because that’s mostly where the flavor will come from.(3 out of 5) The noise level was HIGH. I don’t know if it was because it was Mardi Gras week but don’t bring your sleeping baby here.

I was quite impressed with this place being one of the first places we went to in NOLA. The shrimp and grits are on point, even though I’ve never had it before, but I loved it and the whole experience was great. *Cooked and layer crusted Oyster — This was a smashing hit for me. It was hard to tell that these were even oyster because of what was on top of it. I believe it was scallop encrusted on top the oyster and it was delicious. They may have the happy hour oysters, but I think it’s worth it to pay more for these cooked oysters. **Shrimp and Grits — MUSTHAVE. This is what of the lick your plate moments where you wonder how have I not eaten this before. Shrimp and Grits is a common comfort food here and Luke knows how to mastermind it. The grits is covered in a great sauce and tons of large shrimp inside. Great from beginning to end. ***Fried Pork Belly Thin Crust Pizza — If you want to have a headache from eating too much fat. This is the pizza that looks like it should be healthy at first glance, then you see the fried pork, and its not. The only thing thin is the layer, but the toppings are heavy.

Came here solo during Mardi Gras. No wait for the bar although a table would have been a short wait. Brunch menu is very short. Only about 7 – 8 dishes, but that’s not a bad thing. I ordered the pressed pork sandwich(it comes with skinny fries). Huge portion. Great tasting. Good service. No real wow factor but this is a solid choice for brunch. Oysters are freshly shucked right in front of you by the friendly servers. Would recommend.

DIDSOMEONESAY75CENTOYSTERS?! Yes, 75 cent oysters everyday at Luke from 3−6PM! It was my second day in New Orleans and although I had already eaten oysters at ACME the night before, I was eager for more — ESPECIALLY at such a steal. I walked over to Luke from my hotel and immediately got a seat at the bar. At around 4PM, the restaurant was not too busy nor crowded. The atmosphere appeared classy yet casual at the same time. The bartender greeted me after a couple minutes and provided me with a menu. In addition to 75 cent oysters, the Happy Hour at Luke also included half-price wines by the glass, some cocktails, house brand liquors and draft beers! I ordered a dozen raw oysters and a cocktail — all for just $ 16! The oysters were shucked right by the bar and presented with cocktail sauce, horseradish, lemons, and a red transparent sauce that I was unfamiliar with. The oysters tasted juicy and fresh, well-worth the HH price! While the bartender was not too engaging, the service was pretty prompt. I also got a chance to chat with some locals, which made my experience more memorable. PLUS, if locals were there, you KNOW it’s a legitimate place! Luke, I will be back in the future!

Had a good meal here with work colleagues. We shared several appetizers including oysters, fried brussel sprouts, and crab and cheese dip. The brussel sprouts were quite good unexpectedly. The crab dip was good and I didn’t taste the oysters. The menu is interesting with burgers, fish, shrimp dishes, steak and pork schnitzel. I had the shrimp etouffe which had the shrimp on top of pasta. The taste was good and i enjoyed it. The restaurant is in a Hilton hotel but better than many hotel restaurants. I’d go again.

When in New Orleans, do not miss the opportunity to have a meal at Lüke. The ambiance is chic without pretention. Service is top-notch. Drinks are strong and made well. Food is out of this world! My party was seated promptly, and taken care of by a very friendly waiter(I think his name was Kevin). He was attentive and helpful with his advice on what to order. I started my meal with a Sazerac($ 10); the perfect apéritif. For my entrée, I had the Jumbo Louisiana Shrimp en Cocotte, aka shrimp and grits($ 24); hands down, the BEST thing I ate during my stay in New Orleans. It had the perfect amount of flavor and spice, and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. For dessert, Brendan’s Bread Pudding($ 8) was recommended, which was so decadent and also phenomenal. The bill for our party of 7(6 drinks, 4 appetizers, 7 entrees, 1 side dish, and 4 desserts) was just under $ 400 before tip; not bad for the quality of food and service!

This restaurant was recommended by a friend and so we decided to support the owner because he was a Marine. The food was great but the service was slow, in that it seems that we had to wait over 15 minutes just for orders to get taken. Overall they had a very good selection of beer and with a Pleasant atmosphere. The staff was very friendly, easy to get along with, and down-to-earth. The food was not too pricey and it was worth the price. I would have given this restaurant a five-star rating but its level of service was very poor, minus the pleasantness of the waiters. For my meal I had the chicken and red beans and rice.

I decided to come here in order to take advantage of the happy hour specials. They offer 75 cent oysters and half off beverages from 3pm-6pm which to me is a total steal. I walked inside and the hostess was on the phone, talking to another customer. This didn’t necessarily bother me how long it took her to seat us, it was that she didn’t really seem to care or acknowledge that we were there waiting for her and it seemed she took her time chatting. When we finally got seated I ordered two dozen oysters and a glass of Cabernet. My husband got the Tabasco honey chicken which is featured on Mondays. My oysters were very good, the only problem is that there were little pieces of shell inside my oysters so I was having to constantly pick out the little shells. On the other hand the oysters were large, plump and fresh. My husbands chicken was out of this world. It had all the flavors of New Orleans in one magnificent dish. The chicken was crispy with great texture and flavor. If you come to Luke this is one dish that you must try. It has a nice heat to it while also being very savory. Our waitress was polite but was not very attentive, she maybe came to our table three times; to order, to deliver our food, and our check. In all honesty though the food was good and we aren’t very high maintenance so it didn’t bother us . I will definitely be back to have more of that chicken! Thank you for the food!!!

Alright, so I saw this restaurant on a list of best restaurants in the kitchen and made it a point to have a meal here while on a recent trip. Not to mention, I’m a fan of John Besh. I chose to dine here for lunch during the middle of the week. It wasn’t too difficult to get a last minute reservation and it seemed to be full of a lot of locals, which was a good sign. I couldn’t decide what I wanted because I was was past the point of hungry. It took what seemed like at least 10 minutes before anybody came to even fill my water glass and give me a menu, but when they finally did, I asked my server for suggestions. He seemed completely uninterested in talking to me and pushed for the Croque-madame. I should have gone with my gut, but listened to the server. While I was waiting– for what seemed like another 20 minutes before the meal even came, I asked for bread, which I saw on all the other tables. The server forgot about it, and by the time he came by to where I could ask him again, it finally came with my meal. The sandwich itself was okay; I enjoyed the fries much more. Now it’s been several years since I’ve had a Croque-madame, so maybe I didn’t know what I was getting myself into. The sandwich was covered in what tasted like a thick bechamel sauce and broiled. In between two thick slices of bread were the ham and cheese. Oh, and let’s not forget the fried egg on top. Honestly, it was so rich, I ate a quarter of it and boxed up the rest. The service was extremely slow, the server seemed like he could care less about serving me, and the best part of my meal was the fries. I was disappointed, and wished I would have come on Monday to get the honey tabasco chicken special. Coulda, shoulda, woulda… well I’m not sure I’ll be back. Sorry, John.

Dear John, You always welcome me with open arms, and this is no exception. My first visit to Luke Bob was more than a little grumpy because he was hungry and air travel is so damn annoying and let’s face it… he is a little jealous of you, so maybe halfway there he was like«here’s a place, let’s just eat here» or «how much further?» I ignored him and just kept moving. And hot damn… we found it. John — all of your restaurants are different, yet wonderful in their own special way. This one is more casual than others, kind of a Shrimp and Grits and Burger kind of place. It’s also on the small side, so it can get crowded(and loud). Bob settles down when you put such a wonderful burger in front of him, and that makes me happy. And the Bread Pudding… OMG the Bread Pudding is to die for. Even Bob loves you after the Bread Pudding. This is also one of the best happy hours in NOLA. Drinks are delish, you can get me drunk for very little money except I fill my stomach with your half price apps. I met my first Unilocaler here — Rene D. suggested we meet for happy hour and raw oysters. Raw oysters just aren’t my thing(flashback to a Friends episode where Joey stepped on one and said it was the biggest bugger he ever saw), but I’ve been told they’re some of the best in town and she sure enjoyed them. I didn’t mind sharing you with her when you walked up, cause that’s what friends are for. You know, so many people make the mistake of thinking Unilocal is «just a review site» but it’s so much more than that. We are family, I got all my Unilocalers and me. Don’t get me going. So just keep doing what you do best, and I’ll look forward to seeing you in the Spring. You know I can’t stay away. Miss L.

Upscale bar/restaurant with an adjoining elegant dining area. The establishment is large, has a full bar equipped with TV’s and fresh oysters clearly on display for you to witness the art of shucking. Daily Chef Specials are available Monday-Friday. I visited on a Monday and therefore went with the Honey Tabasco Chicken special. However, I started with a cup of Crawfish Bisque soup; a delicious choice to get my palate fired up for the main course. The Honey Tabasco Chicken was the perfect combination of sweet & spicy atop a succulent lightly battered chicken breast, accompanied by red beans and rice, putting a southern twist on a classic dish. I enjoyed it immensely but could only eat a small portion. My eyes are always bigger than my tummy. Jackson, my server, was a real gent & wrapped the remains for me. Lüke is a perfect NOLA spot for date night, business meetings and hour happy. ~Christy

HAPPYHOUR! HAPPYHOUR! That’s the absolute best time to visit LUKE… reason why? 75CENTOYSTERS. No this is not a drill, delicous huge raw oysters sold for a tender 75 cents each which equal 9 dollars for a whole dozen for my math challenged friends. As soon as I found out about this I knew we had to check them out(we stayed at the adjacent hilton). anndddddd happy hr is from 3 – 7 every day can you really get better than that? We actually visited twice in our short 4 day trip to NOLA. Both during HH. 1st visit it was just me and my boyfriend. we were able to snag two seats at the bar and we ordered a dozen oysters. I also got a glass of wine as it was half price during HH. The oysters came out so quick it was insane. Already plated with the oysters were horseradish and cocktail sauce. They were perfectly shucked and we slurped them down with huge smiles on our face. I knew we had to come back, just to make sure it wasn’t too good to be true. Second visit was today. We had to head to the airport but had time to kill before our flight which was during HH so got 2 dozen oysters today. We were with my boyfriends sister. She does not like oysters, but under pressure tried one and even admitted«they are not that bad». she ordered matzo ball soup. Again– our oysters came out extremely quick(quicker than her soup actually) just as amazingly delicious as the first visit. She did not really like her soup, but really just get the oysters. I cant say enough about this place and their amazing deals, if in NOLA make at least 1 trip to LUKE during happy hr, you will not regret it.

4.5 Stars I’m going to combine two reviews into one for Lüke. We had breakfast/brunch here and later in the day we came back for Happy Hour. Breakfast first: We sat in the front of the house and enjoyed the French Press coffee served with heavy cream in a pewter pitcher while waiting on our food. The ambiance is very nice with parquet wood floors, tin paneled ceiling and dark wood bar providing a cool vibe. The Shrimp & Grits was spot on, served in a cast iron dish with SSU eggs on top. The sauce had just the right bite with an excellent concentration of flavors, the shrimp were fresh and large. The Omelette of Local Crab was crazy rich with nice local greens to help even out the flavors and textures, minor glitch was that we felt it was a bit oily. The frittes were really good as well but wow; how do you finish all that food?! Service was fast and friendly, we wanted for nothing. Happy Hour: We sat in the back of the house which was quieter and gave us a view of the action taking place in the kitchen. Oysters OTHS Special Deep Fried Oyster Special Half price beer! Raw oysters were very fresh, very clean and very cold; this is what propelled Lüke to the top of the NOLA Oyster Odyssey List. The deep fried oysters were good but nothing out of the ordinary. Lüke Fru, Covington, Kolsch was crisp and cold; a perfect match with the raw oysters. Our server was awesome, she made the whole experience light and fun. Lüke is a little walk from the crazier parts of town but totally worth a visit; especially for their Happy Hour. Cheers!

Had to make reservations 2 – 3 days ahead of time! It seems like this place is a well known, fancy spot. We showed up in leggings and hoodies. Happy hour was half price wine/cocktails which was awesome! BRUSSELSSPROUTS! GETTHEM! WEGOTTHREE for our party of 4. lol I also got one of the salads and it was weird and not that good. Don’t get it. Our service was really weird, he was just really casual with us and kinda grabbed plates in the middle of convos and stuff like that. Odd for a place that is fancy. You should go during happy hour(until 6pm) and get brussell sprouts + cocktails + wine: D

What a nice place but SO pricy. This is the first restaurant I tried in New Orleans, Louisiana. Nice ambiance. Loud and busy. Service is fine and little bit slow. Food: Gumbo soup — delicious flavors. It has a perfect spicy kick. Definitely recommended Crab bisque soup — one of the best crab bisque a I ever had. Very rich and creamy. Jumbo shrimp and grits — ahhh this is a must to try. It is like a party of great spices in your mouth. Best one I ever had !

If you want a break from the rowdier restaurants in the French Quarter for a more classy dinner, this is a solid option. It’s not too loud. The service was impeccable. Not only were our waters always filled, but several of waitstaff came up to us to apologize when our sides of fries took longer to come out than expected. As for food, we ordered a half dozen of P&J oysters, matzo ball and chicken soup, shrimp and grits, mussels and frites, the Luke burger, and steamed chocolate for dessert. If you’re ordering oysters, I think there are definitely better options elsewhere in the city. These oysters were fine but probably only worth it if you’re getting them for the happy hour price. I generally find it hard to mess up dishes with shrimp and mussels, and these versions did not disappoint. While all the food was good, the truly memorable dishes of the night were the fries and the burger! Not sure there’s anything unique enough on the menu that makes it worth rushing back to eat for a second time, but my family and I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and would recommend this for a classier night out!

I had one of the best things I’ve ever eaten in my life here — shrimp and grits. Now, I don’t know if their shrimp and grits are just that exceptional or if ALL shrimp and grits are the best thing in the world… now, for all the non-Americans and non-Southerners, grits are corn, something like polenta, only coarser. Shrimp and grits are grits, sausage, shrimp, cheese, probably a ton of butter, sauce… OHMY! It was incredible. I also had the baked oysters and a cup of gumbo. Way too much food, but I wanted to eat everything(and I did). I liked both the oysters and the gumbo, but neither blew me away like the shrimp and grits here.

John Besh. Brunch. You’d think you’d be in Creole heaven, but the experience was a bit dissatisfying. I ordered the Friday express, which included a soup or salad and an entrée. I forget what it’s called but it contained shrimp, oyster and a tiny crab claw. It was okay. Nothing stood out. After eating the Shrimp and Grits at Café Amelia, we were excited to see how others compared. At Luke, you get a sizable portion and it’s good but not great. Overall, there were better samplings of brunch and creole food elsewhere.

This place is a nice restaurant; very upscale and classic décor. They do take reservations so be sure to reserve ahead of time. Due to the reviews, I ordered the shrimp and grits and the stuff O&J oysters. Both dishes were delicious! You have to order both! I think this is the best shrimp and grits I ever had. I absolutely love the andouille & green onion sausages and the big plump shrimps in the dish. It was so flavorful! Since this is pretty heavy dish, I recommend sharing it with another person. The O&J oysters were amazing. I would say it is similar to the charbroiled oysters, but on a higher level. The O&J oysters are stuffed with shrimp and crab. Can you say seafood heaven? Give it a shot, you won’t be disappointed. I tried my friend’s grilled ribeye and french fries. If you love thin cut crispy french fries like I do, be sure to order some on the side. It won’t disappoint.

So glad I had so many recommendations before coming to NOLA. Luke was one of the recommendations and it was right in our hotel. I went with the shrimp & grits which were delicious! What stole the show though was the Brussels sprouts. They were probably the best I have had in my entire life! What ever sauce/seasoning they use is fantastic! We ended the meal with the delicious caramel bread pudding. I’ll also add they have a happy hour from 3 to 6 with 75 cent raw oysters. Usually I’m weary about hotel restaurants, but this one was great.

A must go to for happy hour and dinner! Some things on the menu are a hit, but there are many things on the menu that are a miss… choose wisely… FOOD: 1) Shrimp and grits: –On point! –The grits were very creamy and the shrimp was plumped. –The sauce was delicious, perfectly spiced! –If you get fries, I suggest you dip it in the sauce. 2) Mussels: –OMGDELICIOUS! –The garlic has a great kick to it, you can tell it is fresh and not the jared garlic that had been sitting around for a while. –They give you a lot and the herbs give it a perfect slaty garlic taste. –I highly suggest you take the shells and scoop up the sauce while you slurp up the mussels. So bomb! 3) Gumbo: –Eh, had better elsewhere. –It wasn’t as flavorful and taste bland. –Missing the southern spice. RAWBAR: 4) Raw P&J oysters: –0.75 each! definitely worth the wait and worth getting a dozen or 2 or 3 maybe even 4. –Down fall. the shells are very dirty so get your napkin ready! –I didn’t expect such a huge meaty piece for the price. I am not usually a fan of larger oysters because of the bottom feeder taste to it, but these were perfect. 5) Fried oysters: –Can’t go wrong with anything fried! –The batter was delicious, but a little on the thick side. Made the oysters look small, but still yummy. –The tarter sauce was creamy with a hint of tart. Great match for its breaded shell. 6) Shrimp: –Was’t my favorite from the raw bar, but it was easy to peal and had a good crunch to its bite. –They were kind of small though… 7) Thursday special: Jambalaya $ 17 with soup or salad –Not a big fan of this dish. DONOTORDERTHIS! –I was so disappointed with this dish. I was expecting something grand since the day before I had an amazing lunch with their mussels and shrimp and grits. Was not a great way to spend my last meal in New Orleans… such a bummer… –It taste over cooked and the sausage was way to smoky and salty. –There wasn’t as much sauce as I would like and the corn bread taste a bit stale. 8) Crab Cake soup –Creamy delicious! –LOVED the pieces of meat inside the soup. They definitely know how to deliver a cab soup with a mix of seafood worth the price! –Although you can get this at anytime, it was included in the daily special. SERVICE: –The first day I went here, we had 2 brothers(forgot their names) and they were super nice and friendly, very attentive. –The next day, we had this nasty waiter and ruined my experience that I had previously. He seemed very annoyed with us from the moment we sat down, not a great way to great your customers.

The interior feels like it’s part of an old, classic, and fancy hotel. It’s small but cozy. The service is nice. There are revolving doors at the entrance but they don’t work. This restaurant focuses solely on food although breakfast is in the category. They don’t have anything else beyond coffee and tea, which was fine. I ordered the fried chicken biscuit. It was the most expensive $ 14 biscuit I ever bought. The fried chicken was entirely tasteless. Maybe that’s what the honey was for. However, the meal came with a pile of grits that had a subtle salty taste and grainy texture I enjoyed. The biscuits were baked well. Everything but the chicken was great.
