Loyola offers free gym access to all its students and with varying cost for non-students, it’s a gym to consider. Located at the back of Loyola’s campus, right off Ferret St with it being the top 2 levels of the parking structure, it is very easy to get to. There’s a machine weight room, a free weight room, a pool, basketball courts, running track, running machines, cardio machines, and a multi-purpose exercise room, there’s always something to do here. I find myself using the running machines and the machine weight room as they house the most useful workouts for me. I tend to avoid the free weight room as some of the equipment is pretty dated leaving residue on your hands from the equipment, which isn’t good. The gym’s house are pretty flexible too. If you’re on a schedule, you should be able to find an hour or two free that the gym is open to cater for you. The only downside to the gym is that the equipment is pretty old and breakdown are frequent in the weight machine room. They could use some new mats, too.

I’ve been coming here on the reg for almost 3 years now, and using this gym for free(ok sorta free. Its included in my tuition) will probably be one of the only things I’ll miss about law school. It’s not glamorous but really has served its purpose for me. Mostly Loyola students come here but there are tons of, um, more seasoned individuals who work out here. Memberships are available to the public. The weight room has everything you need. The Recplex has an indoor track(8 laps=1 mile), treadmills, stair climbers, ellipticals, a couple rowing machines, bikes(the regular kind as well as spin bikes), an indoor lap pool, whirlpool, steam rooms, classes, etc.
