Jen and Marielle said it best: Not as bad as 2014, but still really irritating when it’s 80 degrees on Wednesday and 40 degrees on Thursday. This week especially highlighted how ready I really am for spring to come. I mean, please, can we have the 3 months of beautiful 70-to-80 degree days in a row I moved here for? The wee pup and I would like to return to our regularly scheduled programming of afternoons sunbathing on the deck with a glass of wine in hand.(Don’t worry, the wine’s for me, not the pup.) It’s March, and we’re all ready to move on with our lives, Winter 2015. You’ve come, you’ve apparently killed everyone’s plants, you’ve raised Entergy bills for months. Time to pack it in.

It is March 6th and the feels like temperature at 9 am is 24 degrees fahrenheit. This is unacceptable for the subtropics. February was the 14th coldest as ever recorded by the National Weather Service… c’mon Mother Nature, we’re sorry we take you for granted. Yep to lost plants. Grossest being my neighbors who let all the frozen elephant ears just rot on the ground. Plus y’know my work is never warm and my house… well at least the weather inspired me to actually pay to have insulation sprayed in underneath it. But of course that means money that I could have spent on snacks goes to the house… for something I can’t see, but oooh child, I can feel the difference. In summation still not as bad as winter 2014

This winter could have been way worse. Yeah, it was cold, but at least we didn’t have any snow or «ice days». Look, I had to sit in traffic for 3 hours last year because the bridge was frozen over with ice. That didn’t happen this year, thank goodness. I actually kind of like the cold weather. What am I, some sort of freak? I don’t want it to snow or anything, but as long as we don’t have day after day of hard freezes, I’m pretty okay with it. Also, NOLA summers are brutal, so the longer we can go without dealing with daily 95+ degree heat the better. I’ll tell you what really grinds my gears, though. I hate it when it’s 80 on Wednesday and in the 40’s on Thursday. Super irritating.

WTF Winter? As much as we like to complain about Summer heat here, many of us live here to escape the Winter cold. If I wanted to freeze my jimmies off this late in the Year, I’d live 300 miles North or more. I have a garden to start. You already killed my lemon tree and my mango tree. What more do you want from us? No. Just No. Stop it already. Get your sh(7 together weather. It’s Spring’s turn. And to all you people who just moved here and don’t know what the fuss is… We’ll talk again in July.
