Last night, my boyfriend and I split the Yaka-myun, described on Koreole’s site as(New Orleans old sober meets Korean old sober. It was very flavorful beef broth with a spaghetti noodle(which, if you ask the owner, she can give you a very interesting back story about why they use them!). The corn was the most Creole element of the dish but it was a very Ramen-seque meal. It would have been nice to have a few custom garnishes but in a place like this you can’t expect too much! I am very interested to see what Koreole’s new menu will look like when they move to their new location. I truly hope that their expanded restaurant maintains the same quality of service and customer interaction that it currently has because that definitely adds to the appeal. More than anything, I plan on going back to try the crispy and amazing looking chicken wings I saw in front of me as well as the shrimp and dumplings. Koreole, with this upcoming space, has an opportunity to take over the Korean cuisine market in this area, as long as the prices don’t change, the quality remains, and they add more bibimbap(my favorite!).

This is the best lunch I’ve had in St. Roch Market. The owner was super friendly. The bibimbap and shrimp spring rolls were delicious. I’m used to tofu and kimchi coming with my bibimbap, but be prepared to pay extra here. Portions were about right, but the spring rolls were a bit small for the price. Overall, I’d definitely recommend this place if you enjoy Korean food, or just want to try something new. I left feeling very satisfied.

— went to dinner tonight. i have been there before and loved it. — no one was at the counter for about 5 minutes so i asked the vendor next door if they were closed? she said no, the girl was in the back and she would go get her. when she came back she said the girl who worked at Koreole would be out in a few minutes. when the girl came out, she made NOEYECONTACT and never asked us if we needed anything so we just stood there for about 5 more minutes and then kind of felt stupid b/c obviously they did not want my business. she just kept her back to us doing something else. we left and ate somewhere else. –nothing I HATEMORE than bad customer service. if you don’t have customers, then you don’t have a job… something that this girl clearly doesn’t understand — will not go back

Deliciously fantastic. I don’t know a lot about Korean food, but my lady does. She lived in Korea a year and said this place is legit. What I know and can tell are when ingredients are fresh and delicious and made with heart. This place is spot on for me personally.

Koreole is a great addition to St. Roch Market! I’ve been to St. Roch several times and have tried Koreole before, including their appetizer plate which is easy to share and provides variety. I went to Koreole most recently before the Chewbacchus Mardi Gras parade. St. Roch was PACKED! It still only took 20 minutes for Koreole to prepare my order and my group of 4 were easily able to find a place to sit. I had the fried chicken wing plate with corn and rice. The chicken wings are AMAZING. The sauce is flavorful and the wings are super crispy without being over-battered. Corn and rice on the side… can’t beat that. I love corn and Koreole’s corn was well-seasoned and had a corn maque choux — feel to it. I would come back for the chicken every time… and every time I come, I will eat that chicken.

Attended the Koreole Pop-Up Launch(Korea New Year) event with high hopes, but left disappointed. Went with a friend and we ordered two bibimbap for dinner and to be honest the bowls were room temperature and a bit small for the price. Although I gave it to the staff as they were running late. I overheard the cashier tell the couple in front of us that they didn’t have kimchi. As a Korean fusion cuisine, this was something that grabbed my attention. How are you Korean fusion without kimchi? Because of this I scratched off placing an order of the andouille kimchi pancakes. In addition, the beef in our bibimbap bowls were not cut through and required assistance from a pair of chopsticks scissor style.

Inside St. Roch Market, Koreole offers an Korean-Creole fusion mix of dishes(hence the name). Every so often she mixes up the menu and you can get a poboy, or whatever comes to mind. This isn’t your typical Korean spot, but it’s definitely flavor packed, delicious, and enough to satisfy a tiny bit of my quite-often-Korean-cravings. Sometimes when the owner isn’t there, I find that the quality put forth for the food isn’t as great. Of course, that’s with many businesses, especially start-ups. Every time I see the owner, Kayti Williams, I know that the food served will be fantastic. Overall, the wings are delicious, the bibim bowls are good — I just wish the meat options were more consistent.

I always pass by Koreole when I do my loop around St. Roch and finally one day I decided to try Koreole. I ended up getting the pot stickers, wings, and and gulf shrimp spring rolls. I could have eaten and entire bowl full of the pot stickers or the wings. The wings had a glaze on them that was sticky but not so sticky that you couldn’t taste the breading or the meat. The pot stickers were really perfect. Cooked to perfection and the dipping sauce that came with them only made them better. The springs rolls weren’t bad at all, but I was fine after having just a few of them.

Please note this is one of those reviews I wish Unilocal would let me give half stars. It had been a few months since I’d visited St Roch Market and I noticed that a few of the original places were gone most noticeably The Sweet Spot and their lovely cookies. However St. Roch favorite Koreole is still standing firm and delivering on their brand of Korean Creole fusion. My co-worker and I share the appetizer sampler and it is a great deal for wing, egg-rolls and dumplings. I got the wing plate and while it is good my biggest complaint is that everything on my plate and the appetizer sampler was room temperature at best. I know there are some limitations to the set-up but steam rice isn’t steam rice unless you can see steam and I feel that the flavor of he wings would be augmented if they were hot.
