Kitchen Witch should be the First place you think of when needing to acquire a cookbook for yourself, a friend or family member! However, make a note, Kitchen Witch is much much more than a cookbook store: it’s a slice of true New Orleans. Nestled in an small strip mall a stone’s throw past Esplanade on Broad street, Kitchen Witch is like walking into your friends kitchen: you’re warmly welcomed, it’s got cookbooks and kitchen wares and bric a brac and art and Debbie and Phillipe!!! You instantly feel at home when you walk through the door adorned with pretty lights. Featuring an array of New Orleans cookbooks, both new and gently used, Debbie and Philippe also specialize in acquiring hard to find titles that are out of print or just on everyone’s wish list. Another special thing about Kitchen Witch is their custom spice blends which are out of this world!!! On most Sundays they host a little social/happy hour from 2pm –4pm. Make time to visit this true New Orleans gem!

My husband I discovered this store(in its original French Quarter location) and absolutely fell in love with the store and its wonderful owners Debbie and Phillipe. We go to New Orleans about twice a year and always stop in several times while we’re there to chat and browse. Their selection is amazing, including old, new and local cookbooks. They are very helpful: their knowledge of their inventory is fantastic and they know how to find just the right cookbook for you or as a gift. And they also have lots of classic vinyl LPs of every kind to sell! This new location is an easy walk, cab or bike ride from the Quarter, so definitely come out and have a look around — it’s well worth the trip.

What a treasure! Just about anything and everything you can ask for in a friendly, unique store. If you can’t find what you need, just ask the charming owner Debbie and she’ll either find itfor you or order it. A great place to find that special gift for friends and family…

The Kitchen Witch is about as New Orleans as it gets, right down to the dogs lounging around on the floor, the year-round Christmas lights, the good time attitude that the store and owners Debbie and Philipe exude. Their move from their slightly claustrophobic French Quarter has allowed them to expand their almost absurd amount of books, music, well-used cooking equipment(including a stove that’s also full of Christmas lights) Philipe’s paintings, spice mixes, odd signage etc. into a wide-open space without losing any of the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the old spot. Whether you’re an out-of-town visitor hoping to learn your way around New Orleans culture and history, or a local wanting to chew over current events, just get Debbie started talking. The woman has never met a stranger; you’ll feel like a local before you walk out, wherever you’re from.

A great place to shop for gifts, Kitchen Witch has a cookbook for everyone. The store is absolutely charming, and it is a homey relaxed place to shop. The owners are wonderful and passionate about what they do, but no hard sales, just a desire to spread their love of culture. This mid-city shop is easy to get to, and it has plenty of parking, an added benefit of their move from the French Quarter. Also, be sure to grab a pack of their seasoning blend. It is my new favorite.

Great little shop with the friendliest owners, Debbie and Phillipe! Unique in that it has the greatest collection of Creole cookbooks, among others. Also other knick knacks, and their own spices. Short cab or über ride from the French Quarter!
