Tried to go to King Creole, but there was no business at the address. Appears to be permanently closed.

Snowball reviews in November, yep, that’s how I roll. Here’s what I look for in a snowball stand: — the GOOD syrups, not the ones that taste like my mom’s homemade«Snow-o-rama» 2% maple syrup/faux strawberry flavoring mix — fine, soft ice — the ability to get a snowball into my hands before they melt off — general proximity to both my living quarters and the curb, so I can roll up on my bike — NOLA quirks and local color — low enough prices that I can have buy a cold one every couple days without bankrupting myself Sure, King Creole isn’t the best in the city. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t good! I like the ice. I like the syrup. I like the location. And I like sitting under their umbrella, eating snowballs on April weekends with my feet propped up on my bike. Deelish. Accessibility notes: No braille menu. Loud ice machine. High counter in a narrow hallway.

08/10/2011 — 11:13 am Few minutes into my strides from the Garden District towards Warehouse District, I began to regret the decision as very little obstacles on Magazine st. can block the sunlight from giving me a full tanning session en route. The street seemed never-ending and more treacherous the longer I stay outdoors. I had to strategize from one shady Tree to the next as if I was Ninja Training. As my mid-stride towards the next Tree, I felt some coolness coming out from a certain doorway. That comfort feeling pulled me backwards to see the«King Creole Snowballs» sign which was perfect-timing since I have yet to experience the New Orleans style SNOWBALL and secondly I needed to re-hydrate anyway possible as I have no clue how much further the next rest stop will be. I’m not a big Fan of Snowballs /Snowcones /Freezies /etc but during the extreme weather, I’m more than pleased to dish out the reasonably priced fees to obtain one. As long as it doesn’t look YELLOW because where I’m from Yellow Snow is a rare Flavour only for special moments. Come to the North in the Winter and ask for one. :D Watermelon Snowball($ 1.50/8oz) Not very Watermelon like and quite sweet but the Staff Lady took a good 5-minutes carefully pouring the syrup to over-coat the finely Shaved Ice that came out of what looks similar in shape to a Commercial Toaster-oven. I’m not complaining… I would have been happy pouring the whole thing down my shirt at this point. Feeling recovered and ready for what Magazine st can show me.
