I don’t get it. I truly don’t. Every time someone comes in from out of town they want to go to Katie’s. I tell them if they want to get a $ 14 poboy and not talk to anyone because of the noise, I’ll take them to Sammy’s and we can eat the poboy under the interstate and then they can tip me $ 6 for my genius. On a more personal note, every single time I have gone to Katie’s my food is consistently cold. Cold fried oysters are an abomination. Part of me said, «Shut up Rachael, eat your cold oysters.» But my fiercer nature said, «Dammit, you deserve hot food today!» I sent them back(like the fancy lady I am) and they put them under a heat lamp for 3 minutes and then brought the plate back with wilted greens and all. I told the server that they were still cold and maybe just a tad more mushy and asked if they had put them in the microwave, she shook her head and said«No! The heat lamp!» If I’m going to pay $ 16 for fried oysters, I want them right out of the grease. So, after much eyerolling, she took the plate back to the kitchen where they fried fresh oysters for me. Well. Thanks. All my buddies had finished their food by the time this dog and pony show had wrapped up. Some permeation of this has happened every time I go to Katie’s. I’m baffled. Maybe I’m on a blacklist.

They do NOT take reservations, silly us came at 2pm for late lunch/brunch on a Sunday. We still had to wait 30min. The place was hopping. But, it was worth it– we love these little local neighborhood spots. Fro. What I understand they were closed for 4yearsafter Katrina! Take note of the plaque at front door marking the water line – it’s eye level! YOWZA! Okay.the food — Yummy! Husband had the The Iberville Pizza — amazing flavor & so light he ate it all! I opted for Eggs Cochon, I must say I was quite impressed with the generous serving of Cochon de Lait, which was delicious! Service– excellent! Ambiance– okay, let’s remember it’s Sunday, bottomless Mimosas and a neighborhood joint… so yes, it was loud. But hey — if I lived nearby, it would be my choice for a Sunday brunch with friends!!! It certainly wasn’t loud enough to determine me from a future visit! We did purchase their famous BBQ sauce to enjoy at home.

This place is amazing. Total neighborhood gem with a diverse menu and great specials that check every box for local NOLA fare. Friendly staff, great bar/drinks, and a place where everyone seems to know each other. Makes you feel right at home. Pizzas are terrific. Grilled oysters rival any in the city. As do their Po Boys. I’ve been to both Parkway and Domelises and this is the best shrimp Po boy I’ve had in New Orleans. Must go especially if you want a locals vibe in Mid City away from the tourist traps.

Not much to update, because I ordered exactly the same thing as last time-cheese fries and gravy and cochon de lait po’boy. Just that I wish they’d ship a whole crate of that pulled pork back to Kansas City for me. Yeah, to Kansas City, the barbeque capital of the world.

Went for lunch with two toddlers, a seven year old and three adults. They got food out quick for the little ones to keep them busy. The beer was cold and delish. The veggie muffalata was wonderful. I missed having a real one since becoming a vegetarian so this veg option hit the spot. My dad had the legend, and it said it was superb. The fried oysters were great too along with the shrimp rumalade Po boy. It’s definitely on our short list for places to go before heading over to city park!

My favorite boozy brunch spot in town so far. I wasn’t really into their menu as far as food is concerned. I wouldn’t even remember what I ordered honestly without my picture. Not that the food was bad there just wasn’t anything that stood out to me. If you’ve never been here and you plan to attend their boozy brunch on Sunday mornings be prepared to wait. Depending on what time you get there the wait can be anywhere from 30 min to about 2 hours. Crazy right? They serve unlimited mimosas, sangria, and bloody mary’s for $ 15. Their Bloody Mary mix, to me, is one of the best in the city. If only they would get on the OpenTable or NoWait app.

What a great Sunday mimosa brunch! Bottomless mimosas, sangria, or bloody Mary’s for only $ 15! I had ordered take out many times from this place but never experienced brunch here until today. The food was great, service was quick and I will definitely return in the future.

This review of for their catering service: Their small bites were super duper tasty(those fig and cheese flatbreads were amazing and wow, those apple porkbelly things!!!). The people heading the bar were so good too! Nick mixed some the best drinks I have had at any catered event. Fantastic service.

My wife and I went to Katie’s for the first time today and we’ve lived in the area our whole lives. We saw them on Diners Drive Ins And Dives and knew we had to come in! We started off with the Crab Cakes as an appetizer. They were 2 lightly fried cakes of heavenly flavor! The first bite of the crab cakes truly woke up my tastebuds with a light crisp and the perfect balance of flavor and just enough spice to give it a kick. We then ordered the Buck town Alfredo pasta with Cajun spices with penne chicken and Katherine’s Cajun Cuban sandwich. The pasta had that good olé southern Cajun twist to it and the penned chicken was cooked to perfection still maintaining a juicy interior. I absolutely loved the Cajun Cuban. It was moist, juicy, flavor full, and pressed perfectly and the bread had a great crunch to it too! The restaurant made you feel write at home with a CLEAN modern home style environment and a friendly staff! We had Beth as our waitress who did an excellent job serving us, as well as her patience while we looked through a tough menu because everything just sounded so good!!! We later found out she just finished training and she was on her own for a week but she had us fooled! All around this was an amazing experience and we will definitely be back in the near future! If you want a taste of New Orleans, this is the place to go too!

What I really enjoy about Katie’s(aside from the fantastic food, of course) is just the overall ambience — it feels like a great«local» hangout, much different than restaurants you’ll find in the French Quarter. I don’t go to Mid City too often, but when I do it’s often because I’m craving lunch at Katie’s. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but my personal favorite is the«Boudreaux» — a perfectly thin crust pizza featuring cochon de lait, garlic, cheese, scallions, onions, and all sorts of other goodness. The first time I had it was a revelation, and now whenever I go back I usually find myself ordering it just because it’s too delicious to pass up! For me, I think the«Boudreaux» at Katie’s and the Carrot Pizza at Domenica are the two best pies in the city. Depending on when you go, there may be a line, and service can be a little inconsistent, at least from personal experience. My only two minor nitpicks with an otherwise excellent restaurant. OVERALL: 4⁄5. Great local restaurant and delicious food — come hungry and get the Boudreaux! You won’t regret it!

Went for Sunday brunch and have to say the wait wasn’t too bad. I had the shrimp and grits with sausage and cheese grits. The grits were perfectly creamy, and cheesy, the sausage made a great addition(it’s a premium upgrade). I tried a rum milk punch for the first time and have to say the combination was refreshing, and the nutmeg added a great spice to this southerly charming drink. Sadiki was an amazing server, very prompt and had great suggestions regarding the menu. Can’t wait to come back and try lunch and dinner.

Thanks to several visits in a relatively short amount of time, Katie’s has fast become one of my favorite spots for brunch, lunch, and dinner! What I love most is that the menu is so diverse. Every time I’ve eaten here, I’ve tried something new and haven’t been let down. I’ve come with large groups and everyone has been able to find something that suits them. Some highlights: the crawfish beignets, the Boudreaux pizza, the fried green tomato and shrimp remoulade po-boy, and the blackberry jalepeno ribs. My mouth is watering just typing these out! Sunday brunch is still madness so plan on arriving way early. But since the upstairs dining area has opened, I’ve noticed that the wait times are much more manageable at all hours. The service has always been friendly and knowledgeable, despite the large and hectic crowds. I enjoy the mimosas at brunch and I’ve been told with authority that their bloody mary’s are killer!(I’m not much of a bloody mary drinker myself) Katie’s location is also a plus. It’s tucked away from the main Carrollton and Canal strip, but is still quite accessible after a morning or afternoon spent in City Park or after riding up and down the Canal streetcar line.

I feel the same way as Angie T. … I’ve been waiting to try Katie’s for a hot minute, but am always deterred by the large crowd of people outside and trying to find parking that won’t leave me with a ticket. After church one Sunday my large group of friends was only a duo so she ran in to put our names on the list. We ended up not needing it because we grabbed seating at the bar which was definitely a better deal. Despite the hustle and bustle from the brunch crowd service was stellar! A-1 really. I opted for the bottomless Sangria(because why else would I be here?) and my friend had the mimosas. Great flavor on the sangria and the mimosas were good but premade. You know I’d rather a LITTLE(very little) OJ with my champagne… but that was nothing a few shots of Grand Marnier couldn’t fix. On to the food. After scanning for a while and asking our bartender what was his favorite I opted for the Eggs Sardou and I added a side of fried oysters to the dish. Listen… listen…like this will change your life. Imagine eating spinach and artichoke dip, topped with poached eggs, topped with creamy hollandaise sauce topped with fried oysters with a few dashes of Louisiana hot sauce. Got the visual? Good… because I have no picture to show you because I inhaled my food before I could remember to take a picture :) Just know that our cool bartender said that my little creation needed to be added to the menu. Happy Eating!

I really wanted to like this place more than I did. It had a very homely feel when I walked in. The bottom floor was busy with great energy. Unfortunately we were brought upstairs. It was kind of dead up there, aside from a very loud patron at the next table. It’s a long walk up the stairs. I was expecting a knockout lunch, but I was a little disappointed by the food. The cochon in our Poy-boy lacked flavor and was kind of dry. I had to drown it in ketchup. It came with a side of very plain chips. The gumbo was good if you like it dark. Overall my experience was just, okay. I would try it again, but I wouldn’t drive out of my way again to eat it.

My hubby and I ate here Saturday night during Mardi Gras after spending hours on the Endymion parade route. Katie’s was within walking distance from where we were and I had heard good things about the restaurant so we decided to give it a try. The restaurant was bustling and it was very loud! I suspect that it’s usually not this loud but given that it was during peak of carnival season, this didn’t bother me. We were quickly seated and it was instantly apparent that all of the servers and staff were working very hard to accommodate parade goers turned into hangry diners as well as other patrons. The menu is quite expansive, ranging in dishes from seafood to burgers to pasta. A number of items caught my eye but I decided on an order of the feta fries, a bowl of gumbo, and my husband got the dozen charbroiled oysters. His oysters were large and piled nicely with cheese and broiled to perfection and came with a few slices of french bread. He really enjoyed them and said they were worth the $ 20 price tag. I enjoyed my gumbo which was packed with chicken and sausage; I was a tad disappointed that the bowl didn’t come with any bread which is a must for sopping up gumbo but I was able to order some french bread for a mere $ 0.75(which gave me about 8 – 10 slices which was plenty). I had high hopes for the feta fries and while we munched on them, the flavors weren’t melding together very well. The fries tasted like regular fries and only if I grabbed some feta cheese and peppers on my fork along with a fry did it taste like a new concoction. otherwise, it just tasted like fries, feta, and bell peppers separately. Because of this, my rating leans more to the 3.5 side. I really think this restaurant is good to bring guests who may be visiting Nola and want to sample some local cuisine. With such a wide ranging menu, everyone should be able to find something they like without having to force every single person to get a po-boy! I’ll be back when hosting friends/family in the near future!

3.5 Stars For some reason, I haven’t had a great experience here like everyone else yet. Maybe the long talked about hype led me to have an expectation that hasn’t been met yet. The first time here I ordered the most expensive dish on the menu. the lamb. I’m normally a big fan of lamb, but I really didn’t like it. For the price I was paying, I certainly was not happy at all. The second time I had the fried catfish night special, a night of endless fried catfish to eat until our heart’s content. The catfish was good, but I’ve had better. The atmosphere here has the true New Orleans vibe and is the one reason why I continue giving Katie’s Restaurant & Bar more chances. I’ll be back and I hope for a better experience my next visit.

Katie’s does so many things right. That patio. That neighborhood. Those plethora of hot sauces on the table. That sandwich which is simply known as the Legend. I’ve been wanting to try Katie’s for a while… finally did with my(never waits in line) guy this weekend. It’s always packed. ALWAYS. Now don’t get me wrong, he’s a keeper, but I happen to have a keeper who hates lines. And never waits in them. Luckily a little female persuasion sometimes helps. We sat on the patio and waited for the 35 minutes our hostess predicted. Was it worth it? YES! Debris fries-order them. Just do it. Crawfish beignet-skip it… you can do it at home ten times better. The Legend-holy heck yes. I cannot stress enough how much you need this sandwich in your life. Who’d thought that BBQ shrimp and cochon de lait would be perfect partners. So damn good I wanted to lick the plate. When you go order only one of the Legend. It’s enough for three people. I’ll meet you there!

Love this place — always. Sometimes the wait is horrendous — but that’s just the outcome of consistently hitting it out of the park. Where to begin — the crawfish«beignet» a blend of cheese, sweet onions, a few jalapeños, and a TON of crawfish enrobed in a delicate bread dough — think very very thin crust pizza dough, and baked served with a swoosh of a flavored bechamel based sauce… Nirvana. Then, as if you have any room, where to next… Salad — pick a favorite — wedge, blue, spring mix, plain or topped with a protein — shrimp, chicken, etc. Not a salad day or night? Po boys — dream it up — BBQ shrimp and pulled pork? Fried green tomato? Meatball? Shrimp, oyster– all of them — yes!!! Not a sandwich evening — try an entrée… Tonight I had scallops and paneer a veal with a seafood pasta. Hello! Scallops were well over salted — but cooked to a turn. The veal and pasta very good. Maybe you want catfish menuiere — oh yes. Seafood platter? A smoked double cut pork chop with mashed potato and veggies? Okay — none of that — well then — I guess it’s pizza for you!!! Yes — they serve pizza!!! Cocktails, a wine list(yes — really) and you can show up cute as a button or cargo shorts and a questionable t-shirt and it doesn’t matter — good service, good food and there really isn’t anything else ya need
