I was alerted to the magic of Fluevogs by a friend and have been salivating over the unique shoes online. Yesterday, I finally made it to the store and met these jewels in person. It was like meeting celebrities. It was amazing to see these shoes in the flesh. The two young women employees were fun and helpful. The shoes are generally too expensive for my budget, but the sale shoes are all near the front door. You look at the shoes or boots you like and there is a tag that shows what sizes they have left. I tried on four pairs and bought one. Then I came home and bought the same shoe in a different color from Amazon for $ 20 cheaper. We are so lucky to have a Fluevogs shoe store in New Orleans as the closest one is in D.C. I can’t imagine paying $ 300 or $ 400 for a pair of shoes. But the super high class Vans-type slip on sneakers I bought for $ 70 were originally priced at $ 225 so I do feel like I got a great deal. And I feel like a total hipster when wearing them. What more could you want?

The sign in the window says«Life is too short to wear boring shoes». And these are anything but boring. They launched this past Saturday with a second line parade to their Chartres Street shop. Having«discovered» the brand in San Francisco about five years ago and already enjoying six pairs to suit my mood and occasion, I greatly anticipated the opening. I dropped by to check it out and walked out with pair number seven. Prices range from $ 150 to $ 500 for shoes unlike any you already own. The staff was very attentive, but not pushy. And the corporate/headquarters folks who came down for the launch were obviously excited to be opening in New Orleans.
