I came here for a laser hair treatment and it was wonderful! Torrie was so sweet and gave me all the information beforehand. The laser is wayyy better than other lasers I’ve used and great prices compared to others! The only downfalls were that she has minimal appointments and also charged me a $ 50 consultation fee that I was not aware of. I had done laser before so I figured that I wouldn’t need a consultation; my misunderstanding!

Pro: The cold burst of air when getting your treatment done.
Cons: (For me) Everything else.
I’m also a «perfect candidate» for treatment with fair skin and dark hair. However, I did not receive the same results as the other client. I went here almost 2 years ago before I moved to Los Angeles. Unfortunately I had to stop treatments completely then and start all over 2 years later.
First of all, her prices are much higher than out here. She charges $ 220 for full face and in L.A. I found a reputable Dr charging $ 149, and with a 6 session package she gives 20% of, which is $ 720…I paid Torrie about $ 650 for 3 and a consult. (I’m not sure if it’s the same everywhere, but California only allows Physicians and registered nurses to perform laser treatments)…and she charged $ 50 for a consultation. I was not charged for that here.
Second, although I didn’t have ANY discomfort, I did not have the same results after my first treatment there that I did after my first treatment here. I still had to shave daily. I do not have to do that now. My skin was also not as soft as it is now.
Third, I found out I was moving on short notice, and to accommodate me, Torrie suggested I come in for my 3^rd (and last) appointment only 2 weeks after my 2^nd. (The recommended is 1 month) I appreciate her working with me, but I believe now that that was a bad suggestion by a professional. Again, I felt and saw more of a difference after my 1^st treatment out here than I did after my 3^rd treatment there.
Last, I may have just caught her at a bad point, but my 1^st treatment was in a different location from my 2^nd and 3^rd. (Her current location) And when she changed locations, she was using an older machine because she was not able to retrieve her new machine from the original location for whatever reason. Had I not paid for a 3 session package in advance, that alone would have kept me from continuing my treatments. I felt that it was strange and a bit unprofessional.
I understand that everyone’s hair reacts differently, but I believe that it also depends on the person performing the treatments as well as the equipment used. It was a complete waste of my money and time coming here. I just hope that everyone takes their time to really find the right person for them. Torrie was NOT the right one for me.

If you’re thinking of getting Laser Hair Removal (LHR) in the New Orleans area, you need to go to Jakes Aesthetics. No question.
I started my LHR treatment with Torrie last month, and I am beyond happy with my results. After just one treatment, the majority of hair in the treated area has stopped growing (disclaimer: I am the perfect candidate for LHR with very light skin and dark hair so my experience with LHR has been more successful/​easier than it has for others). I have had little to no irritation afterwards and no ingrown hairs. None — and that’s very important to me.
Equipment: COLD. AIR. BLOWER. Seriously, I cannot say enough good things about Torrie’s LHR equipment. I have been to LHR places in San Francisco’s swanky Financial District that have not had the cold air attachment to the laser wand. You don’t even need numbing creams or advil because the blasts of cold air take care of any pain you might feel. Torrie knows what she’s doing, and her equipment reflects that.
Price: Jakes Aesthetics’ prices (regarding LHR) are very typical. Perhaps, a little cheaper than other LHR places. And you get exactly what you’re paying for.
Location: Jakes Aesthetics is located in a little strip mall on Earhart so it is easily accessible, and there is always plenty of parking (unlike most places uptown/​downtown). If you have trouble walking, the strip mall has an elevator to the second floor, where Jakes is located.

As the saying goes, you are your best advertisement. And Torrie is exactly that! She helps give you the look and flawless complexion that you desire at an awesome price. Not to mention, how engaging and personable she is with her clients! I go to Jakes Aesthetics for facial threading (I’ve also gotten the VI Peel and laser treatments) and each time I’m amazed at how fun my experiences are! Jakes Aesthetics offers a fun, upbeat, yet soothing atmosphere. I’m a dedicated, lifelong customer! :)

I like to get my hair cut by a person with a great hair style, and similarly if someone is going to work on my skin I want to see them glow and glow she does that Torrie Jakes — the best and most top notch skin care professional in New Orleans — doesn’t matter what type of skin you have — Jakes is your place for avant-​garde skin products and techniques. She stays on top of skin so you don’t have to — btw: try the VII peel. Awesomeness.
