Love this location! Live jazz and great food. I always order the smoked salmon, kale salad(off the menu, and the Hawaiian Ribeye. The crabcakes are awesome too! We usually split the steak and crabcakes. Crabcakes on top of Ribeye. Hell yea! Houston’s is my hubby and I’s favorite steak restaurant despite it being a pretty large chain. Reservations are only available at least two hours in advance.

This was our first time coming to Huston’s in New Orleans. We frequently eat at sister restaurants Hillstone in SF and Rutherford Grill in Napa Valley, CA. Hillstone in SF recently discontinued the Hawaiian Ribeye but New Orleans still has it! We were excited also to have the Skillet jalapeño cornbread we normally get at Rutherford Grill. This location was the BEST of all. We had impeccable service from or waiter, Nate, making us feel at home. We will definitely be back and will recommend to all!

This place used to be known for its great service — I can’t say that’s true anymore. My date said there was nothing Hawaiian about her«Hawaiian steak,» which used to be one of her favorite meals. I don’t think we’ll be tolerating these kinda of prices at Houston’s again. The location and ambiance are nice, though.

Great ambience and food. We ordered the steak and noodle Thai salad and we’re delighted with our choice. Just right for a late dinner. Everything was perfect. Don’t miss it if you are in the area.

Love the atmosphere of this location. I have been visiting Houston’s– St. Charles since I was a little girl. If making a reservation– try to get a table near the Windows. The live music at night is a perfect addition to their food. Note: if you dine here and want to socialize a bit– hold off on ordering your entrée. They tend to bring out the meals quickly– making you feel a bit rushed. My husband and I usually stick to the same thing: spinach dip to start and we each get the grilled chicken salad. The peanut dressing is great! I recommended reservations, especially on a weekend.

This was one of my favorite restaurants when I lived in New Orleans. I frequented the Metairie and St. Charles location often. My favorites were The Spinach and Artichoke Dip, Cheese Toast, Chicken Tenders, Traditional Salad with Buttermilk Dressing, Crab Cakes, and Hawaiian Ribeye. The spinach dip is the one I measure all other spinach dips by and none have come close to this perfection. The Hawaiian ribeye… Oh my! Give me a moment while I reminisce. Their house made buttermilk dressing is also at the top of all dressings. Yes, it’s busy here, but that’s to be expected of a great restaurant. My next trip to the city will include a stop here.

My sister told me this was the best service she ever had and boy she was wrong. All the servers did was bring out my food and take out my order. So pretty disappointed, especially this is like a ‘higher end’ restaurant. On the bright side, the Hawaiian rib eye is really delectable. Sweet and savory. One of my favorite steaks at a steak house. You get one side with it. My boyfriend loves the smoked salmon dip(not on the menu, but they still offer it). MAKE A RESERVATION. We were told an hour wait, but in reality it was about 30 mins. We got lucky. My favorite part about this restaurant is that it has a live band playing smooth jazz and frank Sinatra. Really nice addition.

O.m.g. the food was delicious! The ribs were tender. I mean fall off the bone, i don’t wanna share, tender. The mashed potatoes, home run. Then, the drinks were STRONG. Can’t even tell you what the glass looked like because they never let it get empty. Yes, HOUSTON, yes. I’ll definitely be back(in Arnold Schwarzenegger voice).

Being from Dallas, TX, I never thought I’d be a fan of Houston’s, but I am! It’s a nice restaurant on Saint Charles Avenue for a fancy meal and great service. They have their own parking lot, which is essential, since Saint Charles is a busy avenue. As you walk into the restaurant, your pupils dilate to take in the dark, wood-grain, candle-lit ambiance. I’d describe the atmosphere as a 1920’s-ish, speak-easy that was demolished then remodeled into an elegant Copacabana flapper style, that was transported into Central City neighborhood, New Orleans. That atmosphere, contrasts perfectly against the clean, visible kitchen. Any restaurant that has the guts to show off their kitchen gets an extra star in my book, because that means they pride themselves in cleanliness and the utmost standards in food preparation. The live music was great, not as traditionally jazzy as I’d thought it’d be, but it was nice nonetheless. The food was amazing, with aromas and flavors that speak for themselves and often leaves you speechless merely because your inspired to keep your mouth full. The oysters(pictured below), was an appetizer that was so tasty I was tempted to lick the oyster shells. Luckily the Garson service was on point and so timely that our steaks and loaded baked potatoes came out moments before my tongue reached for the shells. The wine recommendation was also nice, and paired well with our steaks. The food portions are large, so I ended up having to take some home with me to-go. I am pleased to note that they have exceptional to-go containers, that are not only reusable, but are also microwave safe! All in all, when I have money to splurge, spending it at Houston’s restaurant is a sure way for great food, great music, and an overall great experience.

Came for lunch and was surprised by how packed it was for a Tuesday. Classy joint; service was on point. Had the Oysters St. Charles to start and Thai Steak & Noodle Salad and Sashimi Tuna Salad — great portions, perfectly seasoned meat and dressing was just right. I absolutely get the hype and why people love it here. Can’t wait to try it out for dinner!

Food was good, but with prices at $ 36 and $ 44 per plate, it better be! The service was BAD! We waited 20 minutes to be seated which was Ok, but then we had to wait for another 30 minutes for our food. During the long wait, we did not once see our waitress come back to check on us again. We were left with our small child size glass of water and abandoned. After 30 minutes we were starting to wonder if they just completely forgot that we were there. I was ready to just leave and pay for the one drink that was delivered to my husband 30 minutes ago. My husband went to ask the hostess about the food. And it finally arrived. However, my daughter’s steak was not well-done like she had asked, nor did my husband get the baked potato that he asked for. Half way through our meal, we had to ask for someone to refilled the small child size water cup. The food WASNOT worth the wait nor abandonment. It is expected that the food is decent for the price.

Just finished dinner with my big sister. Delicious spinach and artichoke dip and fantastic apple cobbler. As much as I wanted a cocktail, I’m too tired so I had an amazing Arnold Palmer. The lemonade was super fresh and the tea was perfectly sweet. Perfect ambiance for a date, but great for a sister dinner.

Came for lunch on a week day. They were doing a fabulous business and we waited about 30 min for our table. A comy booth, so yay booth points! Server was not the warmest type, but she got the job done. Just went with the burger. Simple, perfectly seasoned, cooked to perfection. Hit the spot. Popped my Pimm’s Cup cherry and glad it happened here. It was the tits. This is a good option right off the trolley.

$ 22.00ATHOUSTON’S: Sashimi tuna salad, diet coke — no refills. $ 20.75ATCOMMANDER’S PALACE: Turtle soup, pork shoulder confit with Mediterranean pasta, and 3 vodka martinis. A TARTEDUPOLDHO For the life of me I have no idea why a family of 4 would choose to spend $ 100* at an institutional Houston’s chain for cheeseburgers, fries and a cold drink; but they do! We stopped in for lunch today and were gobsmaked by how high this dowdy franchise’s prices had gotten, yet how packed it was with families and fanny-packing casual diners. $ 13 for a ramekin of 1990s era spinach dip and store bought chips, $ 6 cole slaw side, $ 7 for corn bread, an $ 8 slice of key lime pie. …next thing they’ll ask patrons to pay cash up front and leave it on the bedside table. *($ 16 cheeseburger & one $ 3 soft drink x 4 diners x 9% tax x 20% tip) = $ 99.40

Hmmm, what separate’s this Houston’s from all the other Houston’s I’ve been to… easy… The French 75. It’s a popular New Orleans cocktail that consists of champagne and cognac with a twist. This drink, the ribs and cole slaw complete my night.

Recently stopped in for a post graduation lunch. The service was good & the food was as well. I recommend the smoke salmon dip & the grilled artichoke ! I haven’t tried anything like the grilled artichoke before. Probably because I shy away from ordering it though! Smoke Salmon Dip is well known & it should be. It’s cooked so well ! Mostly known for their Hawaiian Ribeye, which I pass over because it’s to sweet for me. I decided on the BBQ ribs, side of fries & coleslaw. The rib meat was extremely dry for me & I would’ve asked for a side of BBQ sauce had I not been full from the appetizers. The Sear Ahi Tuna salad is perfect though.

Does Houstons really need another review? Who knows but here goes… As usual immediately after entering your senses are tuned up to the sights and smells from the kitchen. Open wood fire grill, smoky goodness wafting in the air and slabs of meat all in sight. Atmosphere is so Cush cool. Dim lit, leather seating multi-tiered dining room. Take your seat for the main event. Not a large menu but everything on it is great. The wine list is not large either but works well. Service is knowledgable and just enough attentive. I could go on and on. I could also come back again and again, love it!

I love Houston’s. Literally everything about it. We consistently come here and get superb service, quality and consistent meals, and leave with happy bellies. I don’t think we’ve had one bad experience yet. Some of our favorite menu items: –Spinach dip. A must. I’ve tried to imitate this famous app many times and have failed miserably. I don’t know what they do, but whatever it is it has me feigning for it like a crackhead on a regular. –Hawaiian rib eye. By far the best steak on the menu. –The ribs. Lawd I can’t say enough good things about these ribs. –Kale salad. Amazing. Perfect. Crunchy. –Last but not least, the apple cobbler. Sadly it’s only seasonal but when it is in season, it is a MUST that you order this. Those are just a few of my favorites. Other items ice ordered and have been very pleased with as well. Yes it is a chain restaurant and they do have other locations around the U. S but no other chain I’ve been to can top Houston’s. Period.
