This was my first time to visit The Irish House and it couldn’t have been more PERFECT! We started in the upstairs private dining area. The moment we got signed in we were directed to the bar for an Irish beer, in fact, MY favorite Irish beer, Smithwich’s. This helped to lighten the stress of driving through downtown in 5:30 traffic hell which made me a little late to the party.(I parked in Bob Geldoff’s reserved parking spot out back, but promised to move my car if Mr. Geldoff showed up.) I was surprised to see only 4 tables set up for our party.(Even more surprised to see that a whole table’s worth of folks didn’t even show up to this exclusive event!!!) This was the most intimate gathering for an Elite event I have seen and I was very happy to be in that number. After a little meeting and greeting, we sat down and were given a brief, but informative schooling in Irish Whiskeys followed by our tasting and pairing of some of the Irish House’s menu selections. The food was flavorful and the whiskeys were smooth. THEN, we went downstairs for a rousing round(or three) of pub trivia. These were some serious trivia questions. I thought I knew some trial stuff, but even with the four brains at our table we were unable to keep up with all the fun facts that were being asked of us. But, even lacking the trivial knowledge to get out of the bottom of the scores, we had a GREAT time, made some new Unilocal Pals and discovered some new favorite Irish Whiskeys. Thanks Irish House! And, BIGTHANKS, of course, to Morgan and Unilocal! We will be back!

A HUGETHANKYOU to the Irish House all-stars Damien, Jeb, and Chef Wyatt. Your wiskey wisdom, and appreciation for it, is exemplary. Every sip and bite was paired amazingly well(even if they weren’t all hard and woody, haha). I want more of the orange glazed pork ribs with white bean purée and caramelized onions, please… with a 2 Gingers of course! I’m not sure if Morgan has decided yet if she’s brilliant or regretful for putting Trivia Team #1 together(aka BETTERLATETHANPREGNANT). But I vote for brilliant. I haven’t ever laughed so much at one event. Good times!

Winner, winner, whisky dinner! Actually, a pairing with informative, lively staff and fun Unilocalatude companions. I kept thinking of the Indian chief in the western«McClintock!» who walks around saying, «Great party! Where’s the whisky?» Normally, I have no answer. Now I do! Thanks to the luck of the Irish and deft skills at trivia, I have a sweet bar tab to quench my thirst!

Update: whiskEy = Irish. whisky = Scottish. Alana = drunk by either. TKO = technical knock out, not total knock out. Alana = TKO(you decide what the T stands for) via whiskEy. Honesty, y’all…I’m not a whiskey gal. As the wise Mo’Nique learned ‘dem Flavor of Love: Charm School girls, «Stay away from that dark liquor.» In 2007 when this tidbit of knowledge was shared, I was secretly terrified that if I did drink that dark liquor, I would end up a Charm School recruit. Eap! So, for the last 7 years I’ve stayed with that clear liquor plus that grape drank. Not going to pretend, those beverages brought me close to Charm School ;-) I thoroughly enjoyed the Irish House’s presentation of whiskey paired with three courses. Take a look at the pictures I snapped below and you’ll get an idea of the quality of nibbles and sips presented. I was surprised that my favorite course was dessert; a lavender lemon cake with fresh blueberries paired with Tyrconnell. The next time I go for dinner and see white bean purée on the menu, I will be ordering that entrée! Wowza that purée was perfect! Post-dinner entertainment was trivia. Team 1, Better Late than Pregnant, may not have won in points, but we won in humor and creativity! Thanks to the staff at the Irish House for welcoming Unilocal to the upstairs dining space and for explaining the whisky and food pairings. Thanks to Elites that attended for the fun company! Finally, thanks for Morgan for organizing a fun Fight Club event! Total KO!

Thank you Irish House for a great event! I really enjoy whiskey, and it was such a treat to have it paired with food and to hear why certain whiskeys went well with certain foods! My team didn’t do very well with trivia, but it was still a great time, and I love seeing all of my fellow Unilocal Elites. I would definitely do an event like this again.

You said there would be Whiskey. You said there would be food. You said there would be trivia. You said there would be friends. I said HELLLLLYES. Who doesn’t like Whiskey, food, trivia and friends you may ask? Communists. That’s whom. SIDENOTE: I wasn’t hung over today! Cheers to that. So Morgan, you don’t need to EVER create a Sober Unilocal Event. EVER. («Better Late than Pregnant» will eternally go down in history as the most winningest team EVER)

This was our second Flight Club party in a week. Another home run hit by Morgan and with the help of The Irish House we pass a grand time enjoying our Unilocal membership. Besides the pleasant and convenient location with off street parking was the food paired with Irish Whiskey. All was enjoyable and what added to the affair was the education on a liquor that I have little exposure to but completely enjoyed at this get together. The Chef, General Manager, and the Mixologist created an evening that will cause us to return. Irish Whiskey is something that has to be further investigated in the near future. And this is the place to seek out the facts and throw some Irish Whiskey on the old taste buds. And a thank you to Niki M., our Trivia Team Captain, who made the night even better over and above the Irish Whiskey.

Morgan does it again! Had a fantastic time at the Irish House! We had our own private area upstairs where we sampled some of the finest whiskeys and bites in town. They did a great job pairing the whiskeys and the subtleties of flavor with flavors if our three course meal. I was previously not a huge whiskey fan… most of my experiences involved chugging mystery brown liquors a 1am in college, followed by a night hugging the porcelain throne. These whiskeys were refined! I enjoyed smelling, sipping, and appreciating them. After our tasting, we moved downstairs for trivia. The trivia was really fun, although I think we only got about 2 questions right! Team Better Late Than Pregnant for life! Will definitely be returning to the Irish House for a drink, a meal, and some trivia!

The parings were amazing. All of the food was matched perfectly with the whiskey. The chef knows exactly what he is doing. We had a great time eating, drinking, and meeting new friends. The. Came the trivia… I never felt so dumb. To our defense the questions were really hard and I did not stop drinking. Not looking forward to tomorrow!
