I wrote a review of this restaurant on 5÷19÷14. On 5÷23÷14, I received the following message. Needless to say, it does nothing to change my opinion for the better. Very unprofessional! Dear Shannon, I am the waitress you took time to complain in detail about. Let me begin my response to your harsh review. First of all, I apologize for the bad experience that you had at the restaurant, I’m not in agreement with the restaurant’s functioning either.(that’s why I left). Most especially, I apologize to your husband that is, «never cold.» Im so sorry about that! Now this ‘misinformed waitress’, me, had been there for one week with only one single day of training. As you could see we were short staffed: I tried as best I could to serve, bus, put in the orders as fast as I could, in addition to hosting. The ‘womelets’ were explained to me as just that, simply omelets with a different name.(That was the explanation that the chef himself INFORMED me of). You waited and waited, as I too waited and waited for the food to come out. Remember, I am not in the kitchen, right? I’m sure you know that though, both you and your husband were in the food industry. Imagine my situation, though I doubt you did that day, as I had to bring out uncooked food, wrong orders, and and orders at different times. It wasn’t me, however people like you made the experience exponentially worse. And I almost forgot about THEAGONYYOUMUSTHAVEFELT, when I was at the computer, «for 10MINUTES.» Again, my first week with only one day of training, and with brief training of the computer system. As for my «argument» with my co-worker, there was none. He is my friend and the customer that we were so «viciously» arguing for was as well. Maybe you should mind your own business. It seems to me that you are a petty person, zeroing in on stupid things such as not remembering who ordered what. As I remember, I was very sweet with all of you and I’m sure you all saw the chaos of the restaurant along with my running around. As you said, «lots of staff standing around doing very little», is a very difficult environment to work in, and I find it funny that of all the things to complain about, you specifically picked the person that was working hard. Shame on you and your husband. My tip, a total of 1.77, was a huge slap in my face. It was disgusting, in fact, I wish you never gave it to me. You did not consider, probably because you were taking to diligent notes on my mistakes and that of the restaurant’s, that I had an extremely bad day while working. I had to apologize for the chef’s mistakes time and again, and I was overwhelmed with too many tables in too many hours. I have dealt with really horrible sexual comments from men that work there. I am twenty, I am a student, and I am financially independent. Thank you for that 1.77 and thank you for your lack of empathy. As for the rest of your complaints, write a book. As for the ‘funny note’ that you included in you review, a signed check is not the higher priority that made me RUSH to your table, that just happened to be a moment I had when my multi-tasking slowed. I remember the other man at the table(not your shivering husband), was very sweet with me and I appreciate that. P. S. No further complaints because I have since quit due to trouble with management, the chef, and the owner. Maybe you can go back and have a better server, but be sure to bring a sweater for your husband.

The Fat Hen takes FOREVER. We were there for 45 minutes until we were served. The couple sitting next to us was so tired and mad that they left after sitting there for an hour. The burger I ordered was mush. Stay away from the $ 6 fruit bowl as it is simply frozen fruit and tastes like grass. The food is not worth the wait at all. Stay away!

By far, the worst brunch experience of my life. In fact, it was so bad that it motivated me to create a Unilocal!account. It took almost 80 minutes to receive our food. I ordered the French toast which was described as 2 fat pieces of French bread. The product was actually quite different. On my plate was 4 thinly sliced pieces of baguette. Another member of my group ordered the same — one plate came with syrup, the other did not. It took almost 10 minutes to get more syrup. The waitstaff was nice, but there is definitely a management problem. I will never go back if I could give this review 0 stars, I would.

Disappointing… Went here for brunch and was let down by the quality of food. I ordered steak and eggs and my wife ordered the crawfish étouffée omelet. The first few bites of steak were cooked medium, and tasted good. The steak gradually became more rare as I ate and by the time I reached the middle, was completely rare. The back half looked like it had been pan seared for 2 seconds and was not cooked at all. The crawfish étouffée omelet was decent, but with all the great options for brunch in NOLA, ‘decent’ just doesn’t cut it. They also brought french fries with my meal instead of home fried potatoes, as I had requested, and the fries were also undercooked and mushy. Home fried potatoes were ok though. The second cup of coffee that was served had a lot of coffee grounds in the bottom of the cup. Overall, I am sad to see the old Fat Hen has left for good. And that the new Fat Hen does not live up to any of the standards this amazing city has set for food & drinks. We gave it a shot, but will not be returning.

Great ambiance but it doesn’t live up to expectations. I had eggs bacon grits and a biscuit. The biscuit was COLD and the grits were lumpy and tasteless. The eggs and bacon were cooked perfectly. My wife ordered an omelet, but it was full of some kind of rock hard black pieces(maybe black residue from the pan?) so after two bites she did not finish it. Maybe lunch is better. I hope for their sake it is.
