Elmwood is one of my favorite places to shop because it has so many stores, restaurants and one of my favorite movie theaters! It even has a one of the nicest gyms, Elmwood Fitness Center, which has an indoor pool, posh locker rooms, and fun Zumba classes. It really feels like one stop shopping for me! I agree with what other Unilocalers wrote previously about it not being maintained as nicely with carts everywhere and litter but so be it. There are so many speed bumps but it’s not a deal breaker! Some of my favorite restaurants here are La Madeleine, Sake Café, Chipotle, Zoe’s, The Fox and the Hound etc. they also have Five Guys, Applebee’s, and many more! As for the shopping they have shoe stores like DSW, Payless, and Famous Footwear, craft stores like Hobby Lobby(which is humongous) and Michael’s, a home improvement store like Home Depot, home decorating stores like Cost Plus World Market, Pier 1, Kirklands, beauty stores like Ulta, Sally’s and Bath and Body Works, electronic store like Best Buy, cell phone stores with Sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon, jewelry stores like Charming Charlie and Kay, and my favorite discount stores like Marshall’s and TJ Maxx! They even have a K Mart where you can get snacks if you want to sneak them into the movie theater! Hehe Overall I really like shopping here bc the earheart expressway makes it easy peasy to get to from Mid-City and Uptown and there are so many store and restaurants to choose from! Happy shopping!

I think that this is the ideal layout for a shopping mall. It is one level, open air strip mall. It is quite long, encompassing one long string of stores, and several groups of buildings set out in front of the main mall. There is plenty of parking, and a wide assortment of stores and many dining options. The movie theater is behind the strip mall. Yes, the parking lot could be worked on, and better directions for where the stores are. The individual stores could use some repairs, as has been mentioned in other reviews. I think mid-day during the week is the best time to come. Holiday shopping is made easier by not having to walk through an actual mall and having to listen to holiday music, or the smells that certain stores are fumigated with. I love coming to this center to shop, eat or for entertainment. The convenance in my opinion outweighs the hassles.

Do not buy from Kay jewelers they advertise easy returns but give u hell when You try to return merchandise. I was given 3 items from the store as a gift. I returned a few weeks later to return the merchandise but was told there wasn’t enough cash in the drawer, to my disdain I was also told that because it was a web order and the purchaser used a debit card that the funds could only be refunded back to her card or corporate could mail a check addressed to the purchaser. As a consumer I am infuriated, as the recipient of these crappy gifts I am now stuck with. I called the 800 number and they told me that as long as I had the sales slips which I did that I could receive a cash return. That was in fact a lie. Seems like they unload these junk diamonds and don’t want to accept their own merchandise back. I couldn’t even pawn the items, they were made of silver and one guy even offered me 10 bucks for all the items. Beware of this cubic zirconium mill.

The main draw here for me has always been the restaurants. Yes, there’s a wide assortment of shopping options(even a RadioShack, a rare endangered species) but there’s also Five Guys, Chipotle, Nacho Mama’s, Fox & Hound, and more. The biggest problem here is navigating the parking lot to get where you want to be. This clearly wasn’t designed with everything here in mind. In fact, it was done pretty much ad hoc and is a hodge podge of connecting roads between miss-matching sections of parking spaces. Lastly, the main center itself could use some spit and polish. And repairs. Mostly repairs. The area is often littered and needs to be cleaned up. But even with this wear and tear it’s still a decent shopping center with some good food options.

Mike provides great customer service! He is very knowledgeable and not pushy. The layout of the store is set so you view/sit/lay on mattresses by brand. It’s not large, so you won’t be overwhelmed with the shopping experience. Prices are very reasonable… would highly recommend.

I shop hear a lot… really y’all too often. It has a nice selection of stores: Home Depot to Ulta. It has some decent spots to eat, the new Theo’s to Nacho Mama’s and a bunch of chains. It has a daiquiri shop so you can drink & shop if necessary. It’s close to my parents’ house so I’m in the neighborhood pretty often. So convenient for me(and really most of Uptown NOLA since it’s just upriver). The parking lot is sort of a jigsaw puzzle but it has multiple entrances/exits with lights so you don’t have to fight Clearview too hard. The fitness center is INSANELY popular so parking near it can be a pain. I just wish the owners kept up the space better. On rainy days, you’ll see plastic bins collecting rain water inside the stores. The parking lot & sidewalks are often dirty/littered. Maintenance, it’s important.

I find myself going to Elmwood once per week if not more. Apparently they carry most of my needs in some way as well as yummy food. Here is a selection of what they have to offer: ULTA, DSW, Frock Candy, Charming Charlies, Kay Jewelers, World Market, Pier One, Dress Barn, Marshalls, TJ Maxx, PetSmart, Rue 21, Bath & Body Works, Old Navy, Kmart, Big Lots, Party Central, Guitar Center, Elmwood Fitness Center, Famous Footwear, Kirkland’s, Best Buy, Sally’s and a few other stores that I forgot. So as you can see there is a little something for everyone. What I love about this location is all the new food additions in this strip. This includes: Zoe’s Kitchen, Five Guys, Chipotle, Nacho Mama’s, Applebee’s, Theo’s Pizza, WOW, PJ’s, among a few others. I’m particular partial to Zoe’s Kitchen. The fun things to do in this strip include a laser tag center and Fox & Hound a local sports bar, where pool is also available. There is ample parking in the area so you shouldn’t have too much of a problem, just don’t expect to find sacred prime top parking real estate right in front. Best Times to Go: If you can, 10am-11:30am period is good times to get out in the area and get things done quickly.

I hate strip malls but I seem to end up at this strip mall more than any other. They do have some useful stores in and around the Elmwood Shopping Center that make trips here a necessary evil. There are some good bargains to be had here also. We also can’t neglect to mention the Elmwood Fitness Center that is located here which is one of the hugest fitness emporiums in the state.

i think Elmwood deserves a major kudos for its progress this year. I think a total of ten new businesses have opened if not more which is great for the area. I’m loving seeing the boom in growth in this area since it was a little stale before. I’m looking forward to see what comes next!

Elmwood shopping center hearkens back to the malls your parents first knew, multiple buildings where you walked from store to store in the heat, sun, and/or rain. No AC comfort while window shopping. Or maybe it is the retro wave of the future? I’m at this mall more than I care to admit. After saying that, I realize I have 6 reviews for stores in the mall.(That’s probably enough to start a list just for this mall. Hummm…) The advantage is that you don’t really feel like you are driving to a big mega mall where you have to park in the back 40 and hike to the central building. You pull up in front of the store you want to enter and go about your business. That’s probably why I would rather go here than Lakeside if I can avoid it. The mall continues to grow… Three new buildings are sprouting as more national retailers realize the value of the mall’s location. And there is suppose to be at least one new restaurant per building. Sure there are more speed bumps than I feel are needed. But arguing out both sides of my mouth, the bumps work as I have never been struck by a speeding maniac who insists on driving from one store to another rather than walking.

Even though there are way too many speed bumps in the lot, I love being able to go to World Market, Old Navy, PetSmart, and Michaels all in one place.
