INMEMORIAMOFOWNEREDWIN«GARY» WEHLEN This review for E&G Pest Control, Inc. is over 4 years late in the making. And what is even more tragic is that E&G’s founder and president, Edwin«Gary» Wehlen, passed away on July 2, 2015, and I never got the chance to honor him with a suitable review while he was still with us. Our relationship with E&G began in 2010 when we finally found a home in Lakeview that we wanted to purchase. Our realtor, Charlotte Rivet with Gardner Realtors(R.I.P.) recommended we use E&G for our inspection. We met Gary and were immediately impressed with him. Unfortunately, the home we bought had a current termite certificate with another company and we opted to keep it rather than buying a new treatment and contract. Fast forward one year and we discovered termites in our master bathroom. Low and behold, our existing company never sent out a renewal notice and we were now on our own with no contract. I was distraught by the sight of termites eating through my bathroom ceiling and could not tell where they had entered the house. Gary came over almost almost immediately, walked the perimeter of the house and quickly deduced where they entered. He pulled up the toilet and voila, there were thousands of them. They entered via the microscopic space between the sewer pipe and the slab, crawled under the ceramic tile, up the wall and into the ceiling. Gary had to install 2 unsightly, but necessary above ground bait traps in the bathroom and bedroom so the termites could take the bait back to the nest. He placed Sentricon bait stations around the entire home and then sprayed Termidor along the side of the house where they entered, as well as drilling and spraying directly into the space in which they entered. He then traced the below ground corridor to an old pine tree stump and quickly discovered the nest, which he also treated with Termidor. He told us to leave the bait stations alone and they would kill the colony in a few weeks. He came back a week later to inspect the above ground bait stations and they were filled with thousands of termites, all of which were taking the poison back to the nest. Two weeks later and we never saw another termite. His quick action saved us and our home. E&G’s inspectors came every six months afterwards and inspected the home and bait traps for any activity, which we are thankful there was none. We especially enjoyed it when Gary personally came out, but are very pleased with all of his employees, particularly Desmond. They are all extremely polite and very trustworthy. On November 3, 2015, we received a letter from E&G advising us of Gary’s passing. According to his wishes, he merged his company with Terminix, which is also locally owned by Entomologist Ed Martin, Vincent Palumbo and Terry Bruno. There will be no interruption to anyone’s service and the same E&G employees will continue to service existing E&G customers. Although I am glad to still be covered, I will miss Gary. He was a consummate professional and will be missed by all. However, E&G Pest Control, Inc. and Gary’s legacy will live on through Terminix.

Initially I used E & G because it was the termite contract that came with my home when I purchased it. Every year they send a very nice man to inspect my home for termite activity. Occasionally we will find activity and they are quick to handle up on it. Last year my contract was up, and even though I ignored their mailings and allowed my service to lapse, they were sweet enough to allow me to re-sign as though nothing had happened and even came out to treat areas that were being worked on when we did some renovations last fall. Nice folks. Great service. The only reason they aren’t getting 5 stars is that, truly, I have nothing to compare them to, as far as termite control is concerned, but I have only received 5-star service from them!
