Thank you Unilocal!for allowing me to discover this wonderful gallery as an artist I am always more than happy to visit any and all art venues and your Bön Voyage Bash. I thought the art was exciting and the space is great… I had a chance to meet up with Jean-Paul during the event and am excited to return for future shows!!!

Love this place. The space is understated and flows well, which really allows the artwork to speak for itself. Openings are fun events with complimentary libations and, occasionally, live music. The offerings are always eclectic and interesting; while the walls were initially decked with all local and regional artists, you’ll now see works from as far away as Seattle and New York hung here and there. Overall, a great gallery and a great addition to Freret St.

What can I say, but this is a cool gallery. It’s small and has great exhibits with truly interesting art. Their gallery openings are fun, laid back and not at all snooty. Plus they usually serve quality libations at the openings and lots of eating options are close by.

I was first introduced to this place at a Unilocal party. And I noticed that they had a great set up with great artworks. I always play a game of: where would I put this artwork in my house/office, real or imaginary. Because this gallery is in a shotgun, my imagination did not have to be stretched very far. Since then I have been to a few more openings and enjoyed what the gallery had to offer. Unfortunately, on a student budget, I could not afford anything, but would definitely buy a few pieces if I could. It is definitely a great stop in an evening walk down Freret.

Wonderful gallery. Thank you, Du Mois, Renee’ and jean-Paul for inviting the ISL students into the lovely space to exhibit their art work. My little kindergartner girls felt tlike they were real, grown-up artists. And they are now! Wonderful place and I wish you continued success with the gallery.

What a lovely space! It’s much bigger than it looks from the outside, and there’s a large outdoor space on one side, making it an amazing venue for a party. The owners are wonderful people, and if I were actually in the market for original art(not to mention had the budget for it) I would totally buy the fountain out front. Can’t recommend this place enough. If you haven’t already checked it out, do! And if you have, go back! They’ve got some interesting art on display at the moment.

Du Mois was kind enough to host the first Unilocal Elite event of 2011. I had heard about the opening of this gallery, but hadn’t had the chance to check it out, before I attended the event. I was really impressed. The place itself is small, but nice with three main rooms and a large room in the back. I was surprised to see some photographs of an old acquaintance of mine on the walls. I knew she was a photographer, but I had no idea she was so accomplished. I like that the gallery is brightly lit with a lot of open space. A great addition to uptown.

Daniel and I stopped by on a recent comic book store foray(full disclosure: I was messaged by the owner and invited to come by sometime; no swag or bribery offered or received). We’re on this block all the time and had never realized that this was a gallery since the sign outside says Realty and… well… it kinda looks like a really nice real estate office. With a fountain outside. And art hanging inside. Which it is. A cute, bright, shotgun house that doubles as a gallery featuring local artists. The show we caught featured three artists working in different mediums. One woman’s work is done in oils about birds, huge and bright. One woman’s sculptures are in clay and about bees. The last artist’s installations involve wire and eggshells and all sorts of beautiful breathtaking found and broken and reconstructed objects – obviously my favorite. Unfortunately, pieces are out of my new-to-the-workforce price range but I can see any of these pieces being featured in a home or workplace that enjoys supporting local talent and beautifying locations with original art. Agree with Jen. L that the space is breathable and enjoying the art is easier when the space is people-sparse. I’m looking forward to the reception for their next show(apparently free Stella for all!) and just may update with thoughts on the crowd.

Housed in a beautifully renovated craftsman shotgun, this neighborhood art gallery drew quite a packed house for their art opening tonight. How could I resist a show entitled, Whimsy? Of course I found a piece that I really want & may have to come back after considering the piece a bit. The crowd for the opening was substantial for such a small space… I thought all the parking was being taken up by folks at Happy Hour at Cure(almost next door) but I was wrong. ALL of them were for the gallery, a great party scene but it made it a little difficult to view the art. I’m going to have go back and check the pieces when it’s a bit more subdued.

Tonight I had a chance to check out Du Mois Gallery for the Whimsy Opening Reception. I loved it on site. As I walked up I saw Jason Miner’s water feature on the porch. Absolutely breathtaking waterfall that I wish I could take home, it truly made it a welcoming and peaceful spot. Once I entered the gallery I absolutely enjoyed the set up. Smaller rooms bringing more focus to the specific pieces chosen for the space, the placement in the gallery was perfect and appealing and definitely made me want to buy some art on spot. I definitely enjoyed the art by one of the three features, Denise Gallagher who was in the gallery to talk with admirers and buyers. I definitely will go back for more shows. I love seeing a home being transformed into a place of true beauty housing art.
