The staff are friendly and polite. The store looks a little run down inside, but the prices are pretty good. Better than the average dollar store. I just reviewed a dollar store. Time to get off of the internet and go to bed. Sigh.

Dollar generals are not the greatest stores in general but this one is by far the worst. If you’re looking for somewhere to go with an unavoidable wait time that reeks like spoiled meat stop looking. If I could give this place negative stars I would. I try to patronize this store bc it’s in my neighborhood but I’ve come to realize I’d rather drive to a family dollar at the furthest reaches of hell before I step foot in this place again. The employees are like the horrible topping on an already fantastically horrible Sunday. This must be the one place that a person who can’t get hired anywhere else on this planet can find a job. I’ve never had to wait in line while an employee finished their conversation with a customer/another employee or finish their private phone call/text or walk(as slowly as they can) to the back of the store to check signage be they don’t know what their own sales are before. There’s no other word for this place except horrible.

Do I feel ashamed to review a Dollar General? Absolutely. Do I have the pride to stop me? Hell no! After going through the process of finding a place to stock my fridge, I came to find out Dollar General had food… I argued a bit because of my stubbornness, but checked it out.(I thought they just sold crappy mops and cheap toys) I was shocked to find that there was a little assortment of food. Much better than anything in the Bywater I might add. I was going to Walgreens for quite awhile, but this place had just as much to choose from. I now alternate between the two, but my laziness brings me here more and more. I wish I could review the Bywater as a whole and give it 4⁄5 stars for the inconvenience of grocery shopping, but it’s actually safer than the Garden District and has a tight knit community. If you are close to where I live, check this place out. It doesn’t have it all, but you can get most of the stuff to get you by. It’s better than spending an arm and a leg at the«local» places.

This dollar general is pretty sweet. I live in the Bywater, about 5 blocks away. In NOLA we have this lack of grocery store problem. DG definitely fills the void between trips to Metairie, MidCity or Uptown for real groceries. I used to be kind of wary of going to dollar stores. I guess I wanted to feel fancy or something, but I make a trip to this Dollar General several times a week! The staff is … unique. Haha. I won’t say they’re super friendly, but they like to joke around with you. Overall I’ve had great experiences here.
