This is a really nice bar with super friendly people. We stopped in here after hanging out at Mimi’s for a while. The bartender couldn’t have been friendlier and the patrons were happy to chat. It’s obviously a neighborhood bar full of regulars, but everyone was nice and inclusive. The atmosphere is pretty dark and murky– it seems like a good place to go if you want to get lost for a few hours.

I stumbled in here during my NOLA visit last week… really glad i found this place. I didn’t know it was a gay bar, but that didn’t bother me. Bartender was very nice, and all the patrons were extra pleasant. I would definitely bring some girlfriends in here and have a good time.

This bar is kind of weird in a good way. I’ve always seen it across the street from Mimi’s but never ventured in until some friends invited me to Cutter’s «gay night». I’m not sure if Cutter’s is a gay bar all the time or just once a week, but the crowd definitely got poppin’ and everyone there was cute! It was a little hipster, not that that was surprising, but it was still super fun. They had a random table of free clothing and old school porn videotapes for the taking, which people happily perused. The DJ was awesome, bathrooms were clean, drinks were reasonable. Overall this was a cool spot. I don’t know if I’d make this my watering hole, but it is worth checking out.

We swung in here after a long night of rambling through the mardi gras crazed streets. It’s a small, friendly bar which wasn’t too crowded, a relaxing change from the sweaty crush in most other neighborhood bars at the time. My wife & I chatted with the owner and as he said«it’s not a gay bar, it’s a neighborhood bar». Cool spot that reminds me of some of the mellower moments at the Eagle in SF.

I’m kinda shocked to be the first review for Cutter’s, but seeing as it is by and far my favorite neighborhood bar, here it goes! And since this neighborhood has a healthy gay population, this is reflected in its clientele — however I think the nomenclature of «local watering hole» is perfect for this favored place of myself and many of my(straight) friends. Comfortable, wonderful bartenders(JR is one of the best bartenders in the city bar none), free fantastic food frequently, fundraisers for fabulous causes, local artists regularly rotate through, and even live music on occasion. If you’ve heard the awesome music of Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes, Mr. Sketch himself lives next door — so my boys even have gigs there every once in a while! I actually ended up having a birthday party here — as did another friend of mine — you can basically have the bar to yourself and have your own private party, complete with play big screen Wii. If you’re lucky, you may even get to take over the music and have your own personal dance party. Saturday night at Mimi’s, where it’s gotten too sweaty and need a break? Stop for a nightcap before going home with your newfound sweetie on the way back from Lost Love Lounge? Just walking through the ‘hood and wanna stop at a place where everyone knows your name? Go to Cutter’s — Cheers of the Marigny.
