Delightful! I do believe this was the best breakfast/brunch I’ve had in New Orleans. Period

Alright, I thought after last time that we wouldn’t be back. Fortunately for me, my friend really loves this place and 6 of us met up for a late brunch yesterday. There were a little bit too many choices for me… so we may just have to go back to try more! I don’t know what changed, but things were 100% better and back to more like the first time I tried this place out. The Saturday brunch menu had everything from regular breakfast fare to chilaquiles. They still ask for no substitutions — but our server, Lauren, was awesome and very accommodating in helping our friend with a lot of dietary restrictions. She patiently explained ingredients in different dishes and brought out the pancake/waffle syrup so that she could check the ingredients. On top of the options, they even have gluten free waffles($ 11.75), which were reported as tasty. Well, good to know that things are much better. Perhaps we caught them on an off day last time. I mean the photos of the food from our 2013 visit are just so incredibly different from the ones yesterday. Glad that we went back!

Went to brunch here for the chicken and waffles… They were not nearly the best I’ve had. Hubby’s French Toast was good though… they also have a smoothie and juice bar that’s good! Service was good. Good atmosphere!

The atmosphere was nice and I’m sure the food would have been good but they told us it would be a 30 min wait when there was no one else in line and the table behind the host stand was getting ready to leave. We asked to sit at the bar but were told there was no room… There were 3 open seats. We’ll try again another time but for now, I can’t say I’m too pleased with how they run front of house.

I know that I have been here before, for brunch and for lupper(lupper is that meal between lunch and supper, also known as linner, the meal between lunch and dinner), but can not remember what I have had in the past, though I do not have bad memories of this restaurant. It is a very cute setting, the chairs are wooden, so not conducive for long meal times. Very neat and clean on the inside. This last weekend, I had the Hangtown Fry which consisted of an omelet on the bottom with bell peppers, onions, chopped bacon and layered on top were fried oysters and fried onion rings. It came with a biscuit and I got a side of fresh fruit. The service was beyond reproach. It is a very nice place to go with the linen tablecloths and linen napkins. The wait staff is very friendly and willing to go through anything on their menu or on their special items of the day to ensure you get exactly what you want to eat. They do open a bit late for breakfast, but I haven’t had an item that I did not like. They were also very friendly to a group that had come in for something they did not have on the menu to point out other places in the area with that on the menu. I look forward to putting this into my rotation of places to eat on the weekends when I have the time to sit and relax more during meal times.

This is the second time I’ve come for breakfast and both were great experiences. Last time, a few days ago, we had a table of 5. Everyone ordered something different and each of us enjoyed what we had ordered, food and juices. I would definitely come again. It looks like it can get a bit busy so it is probably best to make a reservation when possible.

Finally made it here before the buzzer on a Saturday. They close at 2pm! The menu is best described as breakfast on steroids! They have a fantastic smoothie and juice bar with everything from the greenest greens to the freshest fruits. They also offer a large selection of coffee and espresso drinks. Wait… and they have a full bar! We started with the boudin balls — delicious and served with a sweet pepper jelly! I should have ordered the chicken and waffles!!! I went with the belt sandwich which was great — except every other plate coming out of the kitchen was the amazing looking chicken and waffles(Belgian, no doubt). The grits were in my top 5 ever of creamiest grits! Yum! My husband had an omelet stuffed with mushrooms and crabmeat finished with a poblano green sauce. It was terrific! He opted for the biscuit which was clearly homage and so light and fluffy! I also had a Mexican Coke in a bottle. I had not see this anywhere, and had to try it! I’m going back… I must have the chicken and waffles!

Overall: Quaint restaurant with menu items made with fresh ingredients. Definitely a fusion between your favorite Creole dishes and Mexican cuisine. Our very small group of 3 went around noon and waited about 20 minutes for a table. Food: We all did the«Build-Your-Own» Omelet. The grits were fantastic including the biscuit. Service: Like the city, our waitress had major southern charm and didn’t hesitate to let us know her favorites and constantly checked our tabl. e

Wow! They were able to fit our party of 13, as a walk-in, in less than 20 min. Service is amazing, staff all smiles and friendly. Food was delicious and everyone’s dishes came out at the same time; hot and yum! This will definitely be one of our favorites to visit when in New Orleans. We came for brunch. Though we didn’t order any of the juices, I saw several being served and they looked fresh and colorful. The chicken and waffles is no joke in size. Chicken the right level of crisp. If you choose the waffles with fruit, you’ll be pleased to see fresh fruit topping your waffles. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros; eggs were perfect, loved slicing through and getting that fantastic yolk flavor streaming throughout plate. All the flavors worked well together, nothing overwhelmed another. Hard wood floors, intimate setting, a bar for quick seating, nice/quiet fans keeping air circulating, cloth napkins, and great lighting. Can’t say enough nice things about the staff, they really are an amazing group of people.

On our way out of town we decided to stop for a proper New Orleans brunch at this spot who multiple locals had told us about. They have off street parking next to the building. We were lucky to get right in without a reservation because this storefront is very small. This brunch is exquisite from the white linen table cloths to the well executed brunch menu. I ordered a coffee and the chef’s omelette. They also had fresh made smoothies/juices that sounded very refreshing. Especially if you had a hard night of drinking the night before. The coffee was exactly what you would want in a New Orleans style cup of java. The crab meat was fresh and the poblano cream sauce was the perfect compliment/flavor tie in for the omelette. Those cheese grits; oh my don’t even get me started on the decandence of them because I will need them right now. Our service was 5 stars and it was nice to dine at this establishment. I would definitely come here again next time that I am in town.

This is, hands down, my favorite brunch in the city. The staff is knowledgable & professional, but also super-friendly. The fresh juice/smoothie bar is wonderful! A great way to get started. There’s also a full bar for those mornings when I’d rather start off with something hard. I always start with the lobster crêpe. How can that be bad… Right?!? And the sauce is crazy awesome(as are ALL the sauces here.). For entrée, I switch it up every time, and I’ve never been disappointed. Everything I’ve had has been delish, so I would just recommend ordering whatever sounds good to you. My boyfriend and I always split some pancakes, though, because of their fabulosity. I usually am too full to have dessert, but I did have the Black Forest Cakelet & it made me very happy :). Lauren(next week is her last week) or Will are our usual servers, but everyone I’ve met there has been wonderful. We have also gotten their catering & we’re pleased.. I’d love to write more, but my table is ready ;)

Loved this restaurant. It was our first time, and they were empty at first, but filled up later in the night. Hours are a little strange, but it’s a family run restaurant in New Orleans, what do you expect – they make the calls. Ambience is cozy and comfortable, very chill. Apps: started with the lamb chops(2), and queso with portobello and poblano. Lamb was delish. Perfectly seared with a side of greens and roasted potatoes, topped with an au jus that was very flavorful. The queso was great too, not your traditional liquid queso, this was a cooked piece of cheese but was not lacking in flavor at all. Main meals: I had the quail, and oh Em gee: perfection. I’m picky about quail, and they nailed it. Very meaty, cooked to perfection, and came with with a selection of sauces; a sauzo sauce, and red mole sauce. Both were phenomenal and complimented the already perfect quail. Other entrée was a tenderized piece of pork. Thin, breaded, and paneed, again a t asty dish. Overall a deliciously authentic home style cooked meal. The items on the menu have Latin influence, and the flavors are bold and balanced. Will def be going back. 5

A very lovely spot in Mid City. We came in for lunch; the staff was very helpful in helping us make decisions when we were between options. And they have a tequila cart.

I have been wanting to try out this sweet little place in mid-city for a long time. Today was the day! I am going to put this place into rotation when we want a «nice place to go»; a cloth napkin kind of place, you know? It was brunching at it’s finest. Mimosas made with pulpy fresh orange juice; available by the pitcher. There were so many good things on the menu it took us a while to decide what to choose from the fantastic options. Our table finally ordered the chicken and waffles(served with REAL maple syrup), the Bayou St. John, which is a stack of crab cake and latke with quail eggs and a poblano cream sauce(whoa.), and a couple of omelets(they do the thin rolled kind — YUM.) with the steak fries as the side, all of the plates were cleaned off thoroughly. Excellent choices all around. We will be back for sure!

This place is awesomeeeeee! It always looks closed but finally decided to check it out today for lunch and it did not disappoint. Our waitress was wonderful and the menu was diverse enough for any group of people. Can’t wait to visit again and enjoy the outdoor seating!

We are thrilled to have stumbled upon this Midcity wonder. Everything from service to execution of a fantastic meal gets 5 glowing stars for this spot! We were greeted with a smile upon arrival and seated almost immediately. I can always appreciate a restaurant a little bit more when the chef and/or owner takes pride in walking the floor and speaking to the customers. Ingrid was a pleasure to talk with. The story behind this NOLA eatery is quite admirable! The rest of the staff was as friendly as can be as well. As for the food… The presentation was beautiful. My tastebuds were delighted with every bite. I ordered the special of the day, an egg scramble with green onions and bacon topped with perfectly crispy onion rings and some of the best fried oysters in the city. It came with a fluffy and full delicious biscuit and I ordered a side of cheese grits. I’m a bit of a snob for grits and I can humbly and honestly say — best grits in New Orleans. My boo had the steak and eggs, cooked perfectly and with a fantastic flavor. The restaurant also features a juice menu and I highly recommend trying one if your looking for something fresh and tasty to sip on. The blend of ingredients will make your mouth dance. We’ll be back for sure!

I almost selfishly want to keep quiet about this Mid-City gem so I won’t have to share it with anyone else! A majority of the quality brunch spots in New Orleans require a long wait time, bring a somewhat chaotic atmosphere and can be cramped. However, to my surprise when we chose to go to this place today, there was no wait, the atmosphere was relaxed and the tables were well spaced out, so you just felt comfortable. They’ve got a full juice bar with a large variety of fresh made juices. The menu ranges from your basic breakfast items to twists of cajun and Mexican. I got the steak and eggs which was cooked to perfection. Also, they definitely win the award for best grits in New Orleans! Very creamy. You can tell the wait staff enjoys working there and we even got a visit from the manager of the family-owned and operated business, Ingrid, who spoke with us for several minutes about the history of the restaurant, the way they prepare the food and what we should order! I will definitely be adding Canal Street Bistro to my list of regular spots to dine and I plan on spreading the word!

Well, there were no bottomless mimosas, but. I won’t be jaded! It was a lazy Sunday. My fiancé’ exclaimed ‘let’s do brunch’. I said Yes! First stop was a disappointment because there was a 45 minute wait. Keep in mind, we are in the brunch capitol of New Orleans. We decided to Unilocal nearby places and found this one. Walked in and sat at bar to wait for a window seat. Ordered mimosas to get this day started! After our first sip, we were seated. It reminded me if a café in a bigger city. I enjoyed the chicken and waffles with blueberries and strawberries. My fiancé’ was in the mood for an omelette. He BHOO and enjoyed it(built his own omelette) and was satisfied. Love me some cheese grits! Ordered these just to see if they could cook. I really enjoyed them, then proceeded to chicken and waffles.
